I think the winger should have put the motor pod up close to the board. Otherwise there is too much drag once he pops up on foil and uses his hand wing.

It would be great to compare folding prop of Lift type e-foil vs Foil Drive taped mast vs Foil Drive Cedrus mast!

Hi Joe. I did a full comparison of foildrive vs efoils few months ago. Project Cedrus just reduces drag but everything else is the same

As always. Thanks a lot for sharing! You look great. May be the motor could be a little bit higher? It seems to create drag? But I assume you tested a lot. When will you test an eTow like device? Nice cap BTW ;-)

Great video! Why don’t you put the motor up higher on the mast so when you surf you don’t have the drag of the motor?

When using small sinker boards and the png 1010 how long can you ride waves for? Please let me know if that duration includes efoiling back out after catching waves. I believe you mentioned in the video that you can no longer get on foil once the battery is below 40%. Thanks

I have 3 batteries. I am very heavy and out of shape so I can only efoil and cant pump more than 20-30 seconds. So I mostly burn battery and constantly efoiing. With 3 batteries my session lasts about 1.5 hours with small breaks. When I fall and battery is not full I am not able to lift up on flat water anymore but I use the trick that I showed- we use a help of a wave to lift up, then I can still lift up even at 40%!

the front foot positionning is just so weird because of the battery/controller box. I understand the advantage of having assistance to get up, but then it's done. This is definitely not an eFoil setup, the controller will get hot very quick being closer to the battery, it's more an assistance to get up on the foil.

  • @JetSurfingNation

It does not get hot at all, it works very well. I constantly efoil for almost all battery time except when gliding on a wave and little bit of pumping. The light riders can even efoil on the flat lake for about 20-30mins.

@@JetSurfingNation the fact that you are getting a big loss of power around 40% is due to voltage drop & heat. There is no magic to a system which is not water cooled or in contact with water to cool it down. As said, it's a good system to 1) learn efoiling for beginners (but you need a lot of packs) 2) get the surf foil discipline accessible to people that have disabilities and cannot paddle (shoulder or joint issues) 3) get on small waves but all in all... it has also a good stake of drawbacks. box placement and big drag (even with a foldable prop). I'm using one for 1 years +++.

yes the drag of the cable is the problem, I am waiting for the new integrated mast that will be released this season, it will have no drag and the cable is inside like in all efoils

  • @E-sk8Fr

@@JetSurfingNation drag of the motor is the bigger problem but you cannot have it all. as soon as you're in the air; then it's about the weight of the battery & controller and pod/motor clearance from the bottom of the mast. but here same, you cannot have it all. interest of the foil assistance is smaller batteries, smaller weight.. but having that big box on top of your board is still not very nice and a bit of a garage setup. A killer move would be to make a surf eFoil .. which means a foil assist, with the mast inside the pod... then going on the top.... with a removable battery. All embedded... but that would then go into a complete "eFOIL" and it's against the purpose of the system.
