    Thanks for this - my instructor also says it's trim adjust, not de-power. But so many people on the beach call it de-power or power adjust. Just last week a guy said he hadn't been out for awhile and asked me which direction of the adjuster would be power or de-power. I didn't want to have a discussion, so I just agreed with him on what he thought; basically letting the center lines out is the same as pulling the outer lines in by the same amount - which is shifting the trim at any given arm position. The "power" aspect I suppose people are thinking of is whether when the bar is all the way out it still hangs in the air or will fall out of the sky - but that also depends on the wind.

    Great information! Keeping the kite low in overpowered conditions was a little counterintuitive at first based on what I was initially taught (bring the kite to 12 to slow down). I get why it was taught that way looking back, but you really have so much more leverage and control over the kite when it's down low, even though it can feel like it's pulling more at times. Combine that with a deep edge, bent knees and in a sticky situation a lot of excess power can be scrubbed. Although I guess the overall lesson is to not ride *that* over powered in the first place, but things happen!

    Hi Ben, When you are back in Punta Trettu, I suggest going out with the (kite)foil one day. You have to walk to the channel, but it just takes a couple of minutes. It's worth the effort, you can go to Calasetta, Carloforte and back, and if the wind is good you can even pass by Portoscuso. Three cities on three different islands! an amazing and beautiful trip. Get better and see you🤙

    I was in the same condition and couldn't hold the kite anymore, what worked well for me (although disagreable) was: - ride slowly with the kite almost at 12 (sorry I really couldn't hold the kite low at all being so much overpowered) - ride slightly downind (the kite will lose a ton of power) - in emergency, go in the water and bodydrag, keeping legs spread open for maximum water resistance

    Hey Martin, Thank you ! I use my adjuster mainly to trim my kite straight after launching it. To prevent backstalling during the session. Aswell you can move the pressure point of the bar towards you. This might be very helpfull for smaller riders with shorter arms. On modern kites, the whole performance of the kite can be controlled with only the bar already (no adjuster needed). What people think often is that the kite generates extra depower in the high end, but that is not completely right. Depending of the kite and brand, the kite might have a little less power (when the bar is completely depowered) but aswell it will fly very bad and indirect. That‘s why I try to tell people to use edge control for compensating overpower. Was that helpful ?

    Hi Ben, question: what do you exactly mean by "using the adjuster to adjust your kite"? are you talking about e.g. preventing back stalling? when I am overpowered it always helps to pull in the "adjuster" to feel a little less pressure in the bar :)

  • @BenBeholzVlogs

    @BenBeholzVlogs

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Pablo, I personally use the adjuster to prevent back stalling only. If you're pulling the adjuster to have less pressure on the bar, you only moving the pressure point towards you - but over all the kite is not really loosing power. It just feels like... The big downside of this is, the kite will fly very bad and indirect. That's why I always prefer to not use the adjuster, instead learning how to use your body, board and the kitecontrole for compensating the oversized kite. Was that helpful ?

    @@BenBeholzVlogs Hi Ben, I have heard now a couple of times in your videos you’re not using the adjuster to de-power. Not sure if I can agree with what you state above that moving the bar towards me by pulling the adjuster does not de-power the kite. Moving the bar towards the chicken loop of course provides me lot of room to de-power of the kite in case of a gust - and thereby reducing risks of being lifted or so in case of a gust. I would call this de-powering…What do you think?

    Hey, der Adjuster ist für das Trimmen des Kites aber nicht um ihn zu depowern. Mit dem Adjuster verschiebt man den Druckpunkt an der Bar. Man kann mit dem Adjuster aber aus einem 12m kite keinen 10m kite machen. Abgesehen davon fliegt der Kite nicht mehr gut wenn der Adjuster voll gezogen wurde. Hat das deine Frage etwas genauer beantwortet ?

  • @matthiasdiekhaus4965

    @matthiasdiekhaus4965

    Жыл бұрын

    @@BenBeholzVlogs So ganz hab ichs noch nicht verstanden. Klar du veränderst den Druckpunkt an der Bar, das ist mir klar. Du veränderst aber durch den Trimm am Adjuster auch den Anstellwinkel des Kites zum Wind. Wodurch er natürlich irgendwann auch beschissen fliegt. Aber du machst ja letztendlich auch nichts anderes durchs Wegschieben der Bar. Auch da veränderst du den Anstellwinkel des Kites zum Wind. Du hast schon Recht, der Adjuster macht aus einem 14er keinen 10er. Dass sollte auf jeden Fall jeder wissen. Aber du erweiterst den Einsatzbereich und machst den Kite kontrollierbarer, bzw. viele, die die Kante nicht so gut nutzen können, fahren dadurch kontrollierter. Daher würde ich schon jedem raten, nutzt den Adjuster nicht nur zum Trimm beim starten der Session, sondern nutzt ihn auch während der Fahrt, wenn ihr euch unwohl fühlt, weil der Wind zu nimmt.

  • @mm183300

    Absolut richtig Matthias!
