12v LED Strip light powered by Dewalt 20V Battery
Ғылым және технология
Hi everyone!
If you ever needed some lights in the storage, garage or any other location and you have a few extra tool batteries laying around, then you can easily install DC Stabilizer and run your led strip lights or puck lights of 20v battery or other.
Took me a while to figure out since I never came across this little stabilizer before, but it saved me so much time and is very efficient way to do it!
Please hit the like button if you don't mind, just for all the time I put into this video to share this with you guys!
Hope this helps! :)
See links below for the stabilizer and LED strip I used.

Happy to help!
the board in my RYOBI battery, has a place for a USB. 5V OUT. Now I'm wondering if it can also be for charging. Some off brand replacement batteries have it.
Now you need to make light box with an plexi glass diffuser or some other materials.
I've never had an issue plugging 12v led straight to the 20v battery, ran for hours at a time. Swap battery and go again
They sell a hobby socket that these batteries slide into , for YIY projects just like you are making and for power wheels and other conversions.

Cool. Good to know!
cool!
Does the DC stabilizer have a shut off feature in case the battery power gets too low? 4Ah / 0.75A = 5.3 hours of light on a fully charged battery. Or a bit less if the power is being cut off before the battery is completly drained. I think you can get these lights with an USB plug now. So a USB adapter for the battery would be an easier setup. You can also get the Harte led desktop lamp and the Ledfyr fairy lights from Ikea to use on the adapter. They both have USB plugs. Harte gives good lighting and has an on/off buttom. Ledfyr also gives pretty good light, but doesn't have an on/off button. Get the adapter with the on/off button and the little led light on it. Because the adapter itself might draw a small amount of power from the battery even with no USB devices attached to it.

Yes, but you won't be able to run LED strip which is 12V since USB output is only 5V. Now they have other adapters specially for batteries, but this works great for my needs. Also does not have shut down on the battery, it will drain to 0. You can always look on the screen if voltage drops below set voltage and also press the button on the battery itself to see how many bars are left. For me was never an issue since I have bunch of batteries too.
would this converter be able to power a atv speaker? I dont want to run the speaker off my atv battery when I am parked, but I have a ton of big amp hour dewalt 20 volt batteries.

It should work no problem, if you using small portable speaker. I run full strip of led's for 3-4hours, change the battery and continue to run. It does not overheat and works great. Check the wattage of your Voltage regulator and your speaker to make sure you not overloading it, to minimize overheating. Safe riding! :)
Could of use the blade terminals from automotive type crimp system. Washers work to I guess.
Could a 12 volt deep cycle battery be wired directly to a 12 volt LED strip without burning it out?
@biesasuk

I'm not 100% sure what is deep cycle battery. Yes, you can hook up led strip to any size of battery as long as the voltage does not exceed 12v it will not burn out. Larger battery capacity is only going to increase the time of the light shinning, before it runs out. Bigger battery last much longer then a small battery, that's all.

@@biesasuk Thanks so much. Direct to the point answer.
Are the metal discs put into the slots on the battery and connected to the Yeeco your own making? or are they available online?

Those are just 3/16 washers wrapped around with some wire, only used it for testing. Thickness is perfect for this battery and sits right into the slot, but you have to see what works best for you. Hope this helps!
What would happen if you connect the lights direct to the battery?

They would burn out, I have tried and the strip burns right away. It's 20v output when strip is 12-13v.

@@biesasukwhy youd wanna fuse them if they were wheel lights for a car
Please can you send the link in here to the amazon product in the video?

Check video description or just search DC Stabilizer.
How long before you need a recharge? I wanna hook these up to my ice house.😮

Fully charged 4AH battery on one full strip gives me about 3 - 3.5hours which is not bad at all for a tool batter.
could you power a 400 watt inverter this way
@biesasuk
2 жыл бұрын
It might power it up, but most likely it will die or inverter will be cutting out as soon as you try to use something. It's a small battery, not enough amps
What’s that device called the one that steps down the voltage

Dc Stabilizer. I added the link in description.

I have a question 🙋♂️, can you just use a voltage regulator??
Buck converter you say.
Could I wire a 12v break light into a 20v battery? Would any fire start?
@biesasuk
2 жыл бұрын
Sure, if you need to wire it like that why not. As long as the voltage output is 12v. I would highly recommend to install fuse right after the battery, in case something goes wrong so then the battery won't be effected or wiring.
That's great so you bought something from Amazon it is not something that you came up with at home from household items like a MacGyver type deal that's what I usually look for on here and who really cares if you're putting lights in there and how can you possibly tell people about the negative and positive and if it's reading negative and switch the wires I mean do you think people are idiots you should just get to the point and your point is really no point at all because you went and bought
So you're running 20 Volts into an item that takes 12 volts? You need a resistor or your lights will burn out.
@biesasuk

No, you don't need any resistors in the circuit. That's the job of voltage stabilizer, it provides nice stable power at 12vdc 👌
