I personally am a light duty DIY home use kind of guy, I use skil 12v and honestly they're great for that. I understand that if I'm doing serious work I need something bigger but for my needs skil is great. I got the drill and impact as well and I have no problems with them. for the money, its hard to beat the skil with the diablo blade. Comparable performance at 60% of the price.

I've been waiting for this review. I'm still using an ancient corded green black and decker 7 & 1/4. Due to battery life and lockup I've seen on other battery powered circ saws. As always great video and good to leave a real world working option for viewers to see. Thanks for all the hard work.

Just for fun I got the Ryobi brushed 5-1/2" 18v circular saw for $15.00 from DTO during a sale back in May. Wasn't expecting much, but dang, it's my go-to circular saw for most things nowadays. Cuts great if you don't try and overdo it. I have a 7-1/4" Ridgid Octane and a corded Skill saw but still reach for the little Ryobi far more. And with the stock blade I cut up my whole hot tub, all the wood on the outside, all the pvc and hoses on the inside, the plywood and 2x4" platform underneath and the shell (after first using my reciprocating saw to cut it into big pieces). It handled everything I through at it. I made hundreds of cuts and the blade is still cutting great. Has not bogged down once on me, accept when I would get it jammed in a funky contour of the hot tub shell, user error. It's not built as well as these little 12V saws, but for $15.00 it was a steal.

Great review, exactly the comparison I was looking for. For me, weight is a major factor as my wrists and hands are feeling it more than ever. Have used the Dewalt 12 for a long time and works great for cross cutting but struggles with the big stuff. I have the rear handle Metabo for big stuff but need something in between for everything else. I like the specs on the Skil 12 but I'm going to look at a lighter weight 6 1/2. A new Bosch 6 1/2 weighs in at 6.1 lbs.

Excellent comparison! You beat me to it, I'll be putting my spin on it soon For just a few ounces more, the Makita XSH03 is my favorite saw for everything except hardwoods or the heaviest tasks. Basically it's the XSH04 except with more metal and less plastic (e.g. on the blade guard). CPO Outlets reconditioned is a good source for the XSH04 as well.

All great for up on a roof or working outside. But no dust extraction except DeWalt. My tiny little 12V Bosch mini circular saw cuts just 25.4mm - 1" but the dust extraction works remarkably well - so good for MDF and hardboard indoors (with a mask and open windows and separate vacuum to clear up dust that escapes the little port. It is amazing how many cuts are less than 25.4mm so I and my daughter use it all the time - far more than I expected when I got it.

Thanks for the video. I have a lot of M12 tools and was wondering about the M12 circular saw, but I just noticed that it doesn’t have a dust extractor port. I have so much sawdust from even small projects that I’ve decided I need that. The 12v Skil was tempting me at $99 with a battery but seeing the low power I am probably going to say nope. Currently thinking about the Kobalt for $149 - I have one other Kobalt tool and their batteries are really cheap.

Hey yo Marius! Been out of the running for awhile, recovering from bad case of Covid, including Hospitalization! Thank GOD I made it, thanks to great Healthcare workers! Great video. Your prowess with a circular saw is impressive. However, I think you were pushing them a little fast. I get it, it’s a test, but in reality they should do better. I’m real disappointed in the DeWalt, and I own and use DeWalt. Milwaukee is hands down a better saw. Look how it did with just the 2.0 Ah battery! Skil,, meh I concur completely on the choice of saw. These 12 volt saws are just ‘trim saws,’ and if used as intended, do alright. I will say the 5.0 Ah DeWalt 12 volt battery is a winner. I use it on my 12 Volt Xtreme drill, and it runs great! It’s going to be real interesting to see how DeWalt’s “PowerStack” batteries do, and where they will take it in power and runtimes!? Hope you and yours are well. Stay safe and Healthy! Best! 👍👍👍👍✌🏻😁🙏🔨

They also come in 36v in Japan and rival the smaller makita 40v xgt line that are emerging right now.

Thanks for the video. I've wanted to see the m12 against the new Dewalt. I have m12 tools and was curious how Milwaukees 10 year old saw would hold up against Dewalts brand new one. Looks like it did pretty decent. Most of the reviews I've watched give me the impression that the Dewalt was a decent amount better. Even with a 6ah and new diablo blade its pretty easy to get the m12 to stall unless you go slow and keep the saw perfectly parallel to the cut. At least thats my experience. Videos of the Dewalt with the 5ah battery make it seem like you almost can't get it to stall.

just got a skil and like it a lot - just wish that I bought it off amazon (90$ saw/drill kit) instead of at blowes (99$ saw only)

It's an 18v saw dude, of course it's gonna cut faster than the little 12v saws...

18 volt minimum is a good policy. There is very little benefit to having a lighter or smaller tool if I can not keep up

DeWalt 12v circular saw is way stronger than that M12 circular saw especially if you using it everyday to cut plywood

Dewalt for the win sounded like it had the most power, the stock blade on the dewalt has 16 teeth you have to go with 24 teeth or more

Very recently purchased the dewalt 12v saw for $149. I havent used it, however I bought it bc it came with a free 5ah and 3ah and charger. The 5ah costs $88 alone and Ive been wanting it. Was a Lowes bogo deal.

Obviously your not a builder. Of course 12v saws and tools have a place on a job site. 12v saws are trim saws, used all the time cutting trim in a man lift and sidewallers use them too. No it’s not a framing saw. And your wrong the dewalt is more powerful, better built then the m12

I sense some Milwaukee hate there. But bro I use my m12 while framing daily.
