Both of my boys are now in their early 40’s. This program reminds me of how very blessed I am. They were very active and naughty little boys. Bicycle jumps, skateboards, snow boards, climbing around on cliffs and in caves, surfing, motorbikes free diving, football…and so on. Oh, sure there were broken bones and surgeries..but, they grew up! They survived..! Both are great dads of little girls ( 😂 😊). They now deal with the girls falling off horses, volleyball, basketball, bicycles, skiing and so on..they both have come to understand how fragile and precious life is. We are blessed to have great trauma centers in our neck of the woods in the event of “worst case” scenarios. God bless these first responders, all over the world. They certainly are angels that walk among us. 🙏 ❤️

I fell off the top of a cliff when I was about his age. It had a lot of vegitation on the edge. Luckily I landed in a bush a little way down which saved me from a 100ft drop.

No, actually, there is very affordable insurance just for emergencies requiring a helicopter ride. Also, in the U.S., even if someone has zero insurance and zero money, they are still entitled to emergency treatment. Technically, one can get airlifted and rack up a huge hospital bill and never have to pay a dime. People don't realize that, but it happens all the time.

Well, somewhat not true. Here in the USA casualty tends to be used as an umbrella term for injured, and dead people, in a situation where multiple people are injured and it is unclear if any people have survived. After an incident, the USA uses the term casualty in it's correct manner, along with the term fatality for people who have died. But at it's core casualty means an injured person, and fatality means a deceased person.

I was knocked off a bridge by my horse. It was over a very rocky stream at the base of a beautiful waterfall. I first bounced against some large boulders and landed on my back on a rectangular rock about ten feet down from the bridge. My friends said my horse almost fell on top of me. The bridge had built up a thick, wet scrum from the falls and my horse was slipping and sliding with her steel shoes. She simply knocked me off. I was able to climb out of the creek, walk hanging onto my horse up a steep switchback to a tie line for horses. After checking my horse out, I sat on a log at the end and flipped her reins over the log. I looked through my saddle bags for my first aid kit but there wasn’t anything except a pain pill and a flask of whiskey to help with a fall. I took the pill and drank the whiskey, ate my sandwich and then rode back the ten or so miles to my camp. On the way back, we rode through some bees and my mare bucked a couple of times from getting stung; was told I rode through the bucks like a champ. At the ER, I was told I had cracked my neck. Guess riding back and through a couple of bucks was not the smartest idea. I had huge, dark bruising on my right arm and elbow but was told the arm was not broken and I had to wear a horrible neck collar for a while. I could of been flown out of the area but didn’t realize the extent of my injury. Heck, I even drove my truck and horse trailer home so my son could take me to the hospital. The doctor in the ER asked me if I had been drinking before the accident. No, but afterwards, hell yes! I thought the whiskey was for medicinal purposes, lol. It’s been five years and I still haven’t refilled the flask; keep forgetting. Oops.
