12 Week DIY Weight Loss Strategy

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I lost weight by focusing on nutrition, strength, and increased activity throughout the day over 12 weeks using the 12 Week Year method for planning and executing goals.
Things did not always go to plan and I share the details with you in the video -- but no matter what, the kickstart to forming healthy habits and learning what my body needed and was capable of was super helpful as I continue on.
To plan out and execute my quest for better health, I used index cards, or 3x5 cut out printer paper. I have the free download below (no email required). This is my third run of the 12 week year using index cards to work through it and stay on task. I attempted to use habit trackers on my index cards again and I share my experience with that.
The majority of the video DOES focus on how I setup my plan and executed it using index cards. Preferences for diets and exercise vary - also, budgets for hiring help, tests, and more! I hope you can find some of this helpful. I tried to be as transparent as possible and share my thoughts just coming off it.
A couple weeks off the 12 week year, I am now 22 days without sugar!! No candy, cookies, ice cream, sweetened jerky, flavored coffee creamer - nothing!!! That's huge for me and I plan on continuing with that. One thing I did cut out along with sugar that is a bit controversial is fruit. In attempting to cut out processed sugar over the past few months, when I was successful I would lean so heavily into fruit, that I felt like all sweet flavors needed to go for a bit.
Wishing you the best if you are where I'm at and want to get back to some healthy habits this year-
Jenn

I love your videos. Here's the thing about changing habits. It's only a very small amount of people that can focus on changing habits, implement it into their daily living and making it a lifelong process. The process is as follows - you have a thought, when you attach a meaning to that though, you will have emotions and feelings. When you have the same thought, same emotions and feelings for weeks, it becomes an attitude, have it for longer, it becomes actions and habits, and eventually it becomes a person's identity and then the thought process starts again - this is a mechanism, a neurological, physiological process that happens in our body. Many people focus on trying to change habits, whereas the focus should really be on changing the meaning of the thought. If you change the meaning of the thought, it HAS to give you a different emotion, feeling, in turn a different attitude and in turn different habits. It's a physiological mechanism - it will happen. The insights you've gain through this process, are a big win for you!

This is incredible!! Thank you so much for breaking habit formation down. Being where I am now in my relationship with sugar, it make so much sense.

I have been working with the card deck setting up my daily’s, weekly, monthly. I’ve also included the twelve week plan for personal and business mgt. my clients think I’m already organized more than they are, lol the secret is I’m not emotionally attached to their stuff so that helps me greatly. OCD. People have a greater need for tactile. Touchy feely you’re in control of it. I’m a control freak. Don’t look so down on yourself. It’s a process. You can do it!

So your video made me think about habit formation (especially in me). I could hear the disappointed in yourself as you reviewed the weeks. BUT! At the end of the 12 weeks you did see successes. Maybe not in every habit. You had a lot of habits you were trying to establish. This is exactly what I do too. These are my take aways from this video. 1. I want to cram too much into too little time. When I make my first 12 Week Year, I need to make it, then go back and divide it into 3, 12 Week Years. I will not work on all the goals I want that calendar year, but I bet Ill have better success that sticks. 2) If you or I had a little bird record what we were doing the 12 weeks before we started an intentional 12 Week Year we'd probably be getting scores of 10%-20%. So getting scores of 50% when we first start being intention is winning!!! We are better than we were! Chin up, ducky!! You got this! The 2nd 12 Week Year can be even better!😊

Oh my goodness, I wish I had that little bird around late last year, wouldn't that have been great! You are so right. It might not have been 80%, but it was much better than where I was at.

My plan is to eventually do a weight loss bundle with options for different ways of using the cards to lose weight for some flexibility in planning. Having the dates planned out on the calendar for 2024 has been a big help for me, because I can so easily get stuck in the consuming information stage too.

I’ve been getting active and losing weight in the process. I can’t afford a gym right now but lifting and move the excess stuff around and hauling it to the trash and dumping it. Donating things I can and giving back the things I borrowed over the years that got shoved back saying I’ll do it next time. This Has helped I’m doing this slow and steady. It didn’t happen overnight it’s going to take diligence and effort but I’ve found that giving myself permission, to have failures, stumbles, and mountains to climb, is proving that the long term will be worth it. I love how you’ve incorporated time for self examinations, now give yourself permission to hug yourself , appreciate what you have grown over the years. Enjoy life, it’s so fleeting . Children won’t stay young for ever, but then neither will you. If I haven’t thanked you yet, the twelve week year book incorporated in the S . H. E. Card-file is wonderful. I use it for my projects personal and business mgt. I also use this method for my clients in that I’ve created a smaller version of the card file for each one it helps me keep my notes and I can refer to them so I’m not over taxing my brain. It allows me to think clearly on one subject and move on. The one thing I did do is stop looking so intently at the past. It’s over and done you can’t change it but you can affect the outcome of it by making amends giving others the chance to have failures ,too.
