  • @Yakez42

    Well, it actually makes sense to make levitating track stretch over levitating train. Not so much when it is full system. Simple principle here is how much all your trains weight vs how much track weight. Trains are just multitude heavier than several hundred meters of levitating track. Assuming that you need energy to levitate...

    I've found the most effective way of building railways in Satisfactory was waiting for drones, and never building them at all. Why bust chops like that I have no idea. Even in Factorio, it was just more complicated than worth the effort. I'm quite happy with my drones so far... closing in on the last Spacey Elevator stuff, and my nuclear plants have now issues, so sometimes the best way to do something is NOT to do something! I do have to admit it took me until grad school to truly understand the empty set. What an epiphany.

    I really like the Viaduct look! It would suit my factory perfectly, though I noticed you didn't go through how to do a curve. I have some 90 degree turns and I am unsure how Viaducts work with curves. The single rail technique is what I'm using now, just putting some concrete pillars underneath, but I'd be curious to see more complicated curve designs!

  • @Yakez42

    @Yakez42

    9 ай бұрын

    Yeah, viaduct curves are in the ballpark of "problem for future me". I just tend to swap to pillar designs on the turns and make instant 30-90 degree turns over making monumental long curves. Also I kind of do not see the way to make an actual curve inside blueprint designer, since I need like 11 tiles of space for proper curve without using mods. This is why I just avoid them for now

    Levitation looks great, but best just for a few small things that would actually benefit - like the vehicles them self, or when spanning some part where support-pillars don't work or would be a problem. For trains i personally think some more slender but solid pillars look best for a futuristic setting. Levitating infrastructure in general are a disaster waiting to happen, costing a fortune and offering no benefits. Why would you waste energy and resources to make stuff levitate? Large building already have very strict requirements on their foundations, making them airborn just means that you would now have to have a way thicker and more solid base (making it more costly), somehow anchor the building in place, and you then still can't really have water, gas, electricity or sewage connections.

  • @Yakez42

    @Yakez42

    6 ай бұрын

    Modern supertall skyscrapers are already "disaster waiting to happen". They have active counterbalance systems in place, and those use power. In event of natural disaster they are not only exposed to power shortage, but also lose their active defense. And still it is a thing. And backups always exist. Also there are a lot of places nearly impossible to be covered with physical infrastructure at reasonable cost. Like straight of Gibraltar or Nordic Fiords. Having cheaper active system there would make more sense, than pouring like 20% of continent GDP into construction project. And we already construct things like huge drawbridges that is also purely active system to provide one axis of transportation. Why? Because they cheaper, than bigger bridge. They definitely not safer.

  • @ABaumstumpf

    @ABaumstumpf

    @@Yakez42 "They have active counterbalance systems in place" Most still use a simple passive tunes mass. But yes, that problem exists and would just be way worse if the buildings where afloat. "Like straight of Gibraltar or Nordic Fiords. " Yeah - as i said - the few regions where normal structures would be prohibitively expensive or impossible. "And we already construct things like huge drawbridges that is also purely active system " They aren't. Those are normal static structures that can be moved out of the way. The waterways are not powered nor is the bridged actively held in suspension when the other traffic is crossing it.

Try to find a place that has culture that interests you and plan it out well, then just go for it because international holidays are meant to be a great memorable experience that is worth it to YOU.

    Honestly I feel like 10/1 approach is ok on social media. Like make 10 things for free and then maybe ask for some tips with 11th. But yeah making everything behind the paywall is not really ethical. Especially when you create thing in medium that you do not even own.

    Great video, but... Why so much hate? Oh wait, I think you mean height, yes? It's pronounced like Hi! with a T at the end. English has some weird hold-over spelling and pronunciation artifacts from a former time. It's also a language with a whole lot of words stolen from other languages.
