Great channel and great explanations. You are right the issue with 12 volt car lights is they don't last very long because they were never designed to be used like residential ones. I did the opposite, in my previous car, I installed a 12 volt residential 3watt spotlight as a dome light and it lasted for ever.

Keeping it simple would be to change everything over to 48 volts DC…… Everything, not just your house but every kar, truk, power tool, Lawn mower, weed eater…….. house hold Applianses……. Everything…… Use AC only to transmit power over 300ft / 100 meters.

Installed some lights from Wish into a 4' light fixture when ends dried out and cracked. Works great.

I'm doing something similar on my RV and never even thought about getting 120V fixtures and converting to 12V. Especially since there's much better options I also found out I can use a 120V switch too so it'll look way nicer then the stupid rocker switches! Anyways, they also sell 12V LEDs that screw into the typical E26 base 😎 so you don't have to do what you're doing. You just literally wire it to the light and it should work as long as the bulb is 12V As far as the wiring goes, I'd also personally do the black wire as Red since in a house that's considered the "hot" wire

I like the idea and it works but wouldn't it be easier to just buy a 12-volt screw-in light bulb and run it on the 12 volts it's already coming out the wall there? God bless

I've been making solar lights around my house that are bright and last many hours. Solar lights on the market are such trash nowadays. Better to diy and get exactly what you want.

Is there such a thing as 12 volt standard light bulbs that one could just screw in and run 12-volt power through the existing wires in the house?

It would be simple to convert an LED bulb that's designed for AC... just rip out all the circuitry and replace it with a single resistor... boom 12 LED light bulb with standard screw socket size called medium or technically called an E26 Socket... I'm not aware of any bulbs already made like this, but there are videos showing how to open the base (the usually plastic area between the socket and the faux-glass bulb) and access the circuit board without breaking the whole thing. best of luck, cheers.

Yes, many choices in 12 volt light bulbs. Some with standard edison base, others with bases for track lighting, etc. And with LED, they don't use much power and produce the same light as similar LED bulbs using similar power at 120vac.

I wanna know that also. The strips are cheap and easily accessible. He wanted to show everyone about a diy project using a very efficient method using cheap parts. Also a watt is a watt. It's measure remains the same between whatever appliance being used.
