Off Grid -Shed to Cabin with Grumpy Mountain Man
SHED TO HOME Off Grid Cabin Homestead videos. This channel is for someone who likes being outside. This channel shows Shed to Home Projects. We happen to be Off-grid. Most videos are do it yourself homesteading videos, solar power how to videos. KZread helped me get going and learn and this channel is for passing it forward.

I’m with you, pure grifters.
Very helpful, thanks!
A regular thermcouple for furnace or water heater will not work wrong threads, 30 inch or longer and you can google Unique refrigerator thermocouple
This is 3 years after you put up this video and lithium hasn't proven itself enough for me to spend the money. Currently have 6 trojan 6 volt batteries and by the end of this fall, I will be upgrading to an IFLA (forklift battery)
THANK YOU!!!
Boiled Linseed Oil, Watco Danish oil (for color, and thinning) and varnish… I used roughly even proportions… Any more, though - I tend to use shellac…
I know this is an older video, but can you tell me what the point of the diesel fuel is? Can I use just use motor oil?
I want to thank you for posting this! First off, I'm a transwoman and I only say that for my safety. My husband and I do not believe in flaunting it or pushing ourselves down other peoples' throats. We're both in our 50's. He's into watching anime, and cooking. I'm into video games and handling the finances. We both work our butts off and are VERY reserved people. What we can't stand are liars, fakes and flakes. Thank you for telling the truth.
Should have left the carpet off, that is what hold moisture and rots the boards.
What about preventing termites and others wood eating insects?
I’ve read somewhere on KZread you can add Borax.
Good info. I have 2 from HF. Run led lights and charge stuff. Built batt boxes from Orlando Prepper. Charge from 100 watt panel. No problem 2 years.
I have the same fridge but it keeps freezing my food inside the fridge. What is your thermostat level at? Any idea why it’s freezing my food
Sounds like you have a bad thermostat
Amazing adaptation of Boss of the Swamp fridge. Saving money, usable and useful. Great job. Blessings
Very Nice
Has Wrangler star become cringe or has he always been like that?
I’m buying one tomorrow 👍
If you were really "off grid" you wouldn't even be on KZread much less the internet. Off grid means off the electrical grid
Thanks for setting that straight I was really confused.
@@GrumpyMountainMan so not even you are off grid. Makes your channel fake too
@@sgtstedanko7186 he has never tried to hide it and if you watch his channel. The running joke that he is a "Amish electrician" making fun of himself. Chill out Sgt Shultz.
Nice😊
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Lol
I❤❤❤❤
There's a saying in my neck of the woods. " Poor peaple got poor ways. Ya do what ya gotta do, untill you can do what ya wanna do "...lol
I'm fixing to build one for my tiny house. I want to run a full size frig lights and t.v. for now. I want to get to the point to have enough power to run everything.
Because of my budget I can't do it all at once. So I think I'll build it backwards. Batteries , inverter first. Charge batts with my gen or car...then when I get my panels there's no way I could run out after then I understand the concept, the components. I'm trying to figure out the sizing part...
Thanks so much! Totally agree with you.
Thanks for watching!
I like the idea and it works but wouldn't it be easier to just buy a 12-volt screw-in light bulb and run it on the 12 volts it's already coming out the wall there? God bless
This video is over 4 years old. New tech has come out.
When appplying a mixture, which solution is better - diesel or paint thinner like turpentine?
Diesel
@@GrumpyMountainMan Thanks.
We just bought one of these new, and plan to vent it straight up and out the roof of our cabin bathroom addition I just built. I plan to use just cheap galvanized 4 inch vent pipe, but I'm going to line the inside of the pipe with aluminum tape to slow the corrosion/rust process. We are poor and on disability, so we can't afford that B-pipe which is just aluminum pipe inside with galvanized on the outside, so I figured heck, a layer of that alum tape on the inside should do the same dang thing!. We have the tape on our wood stove chimney joints and it's held up just fine to the heat. I'm just gunna vent ours straight up through the roof and make my own flashing with a roll of aluminum I have that I got for a good deal and will alum tape the seams and then high heat RTV silicone all the joints/seams when done. I think with a CO detector, an 8 foot vent/flu going out, that this thing will be just fine. Heck we have a propane stove and fridge in our cabin and CO hasn't been an issue. I think these companies and government just make excessive overbearing rules to try sell more expensive products. I mean I get that there has to be rules for all the tap water dolts that don't have 2 brain cells to knock together that think things like Trudeau or Biden are great leaders, and thus they need to be spoon fed and protected, but for people with even a sliver of common sense these rules and bylaws are downright idiotic! lol!. We plan to make a video of our install and post it to our channel we are starting if anyone is interested in watching that when we are done just go check out "the modern Viking homestead" channel here on poo-tube. Anyways, thanks for this video, I stole some ideas from it and plan to implement them when I install mine. Keep up the good work Mr. Grumpy!. lol - Adam
I am about to do it. I dont have the cash for a regular fridge
Always buy an 8 foot bed
Its can be very comical watching people at lowes/home depot.
Bless his soul! 😂
Good to hear from you!
Same to you!
Good to see you again Love it😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks 😅
Thanks for the laugh😅
How have ya been buddy? Hope things are going good. Happy New Year
Great video! One question, are you running your Starling on 120 VAC or did you convert it to run on 12 VDC? I'll apologise in advance if you answered this in a previous video. Keep the great content coming when you have it and are able. Thanks for what you do!
It's on 120vac. It pulls 50 constant watts.
@@GrumpyMountainMan Thanks for the quick response!
This is the first alert I've received from your channel in months - must be a YT thing cause I'm subsribed with all alerts on! So I just checked your site and there's a bunch of videos I wasn't alerted to, so I've got some catching up to do! Great to see you are indeed alive and well! Guess I can't trust YT to do the right thing and live up to their end of the bargain and alert subscribers!! I'll make a point to check manually on my own from here on out - lesson learned. Wishing you all the best in the New Year. Viewing from my cabjn on the shores of Lake of the Woods in NW Ontario, Canada!
I have been living off grid for 1.5 years now. Tomorrow i will finally get a controller to hook up my solar. For 11 years and over 9000 videos , i tried to teach stupid people how to build a homestead. My friends want me to start an off grid channel , but i refuse because people dont want to learn , they like the fake crap
It's why there isn't much new content on here. It's not worth the headache. Thank you for confirming my decision.
@GrumpyMountainMan my computer broke a week after i bought my land that is why I have 5 subs and no videos 🙃. After so many years of daily videos , I have enjoyed the peacefulness of being alone and building my new property. I was going to sub your channel but noticed you also quit making videos .
hahaha Im SO sick of those T and A thumbnail videos and then the idiots who give them a million views! I'm not going to pimp out my wife for views. Good to see there is another Grumpy Mountain Man out there.
can the wooolly alegids spread to western hemlocks?
Yes, but in the west, you have a bug that can eat them. They refuse to import that bug to our region. Meanwhile, our trees are dying.
Its so great to see others utilizing Boss of the swamps backwoods logic into their own lives. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
@@GrumpyMountainMan Your welcome
thanks!
Thanks. Very helpful. I need to replace my 25 year old consul propane fridge so this looks like a good option
Glad it was helpful!
You mention American made cat 6E cable but the amazon link for the cable states country of origin as China. Can you confirm this is the cable (amazon link) that does work
Order from Nassau National
Chinese Cable dont Work??? Only American Made 🤣🤣🤣🤣 What a load of S.H.I.T.
Keep doing the videos. I haven’t seen a new one from you in a while.
Thanks for the videos. I like what you. I watch you and Boss of the Swamp.
I appreciate that...you made my day
i just wanted to live in the country. im capable to go with out grid power for consideral time. I work at a fulltime job. i bought my entire place out of pocket and its nice, but its not show model house.
Mayber your lower voltage standard is responsible.
