I'm 36 now, and I feel privileged to have been able to watch AMA motocross when I was young. I heard about a young kid coming up the ranks #259 riding a Kawi and dominating Loretta. He didn't disappoint when he came of age and turned pro. He rode with on the edge, 110%, all passion and grit. Riding on the edge did catch up with him with injuries, but he was always amazing and exciting to watch. It's sad, but I respect that he retired when the passion and love started to die down.

@@tomminoonan46 Jett has never shown the raw, sustained speed of Herlings or Stewart yet. He's smart and manages his races, he rides only fast enough to win. He's never been in a situation where he was at the back of the pack on a start and had to ride flat out the whole moto (at least not in the 450 class). We'll see what he's got then.

I think Stewart at his prime on a perfect setup will always be the GOAT in terms of raw speed. Carmichael even said that no matter what James always had a little something extra in the tank during a race, he could consistently push the envelope beyond what was thought to be possible on a motorcycle and challenge the best in the world to up their game to stay relevant. The fact that the true "Bubba Scrub" was something he only did once in a while proves that as fast as he was, he was so fast he could only realistically give it 100% when the stars aligned or else he would yard sale every race xD Jett is the next Stewart too in terms of pushing the sport to the next level, though I don't think Jett has the pure raw speed James did in his prime.

The comment section never fails. I believe the video is about how many impressive moments he had in his era of Moto/Supercross. No shit there were plenty of other accomplished racers in his time, but it ain't about that. He is probably the fastest I've witnessed, although he rode over the top way too much. If not for the arrival of 4 stroke bikes while Kawasaki was dragging ass in production, he'd have several more wins and wow moments to his name.

Seen most of the greats race, this guy when he was in the zone was faster around a track than anyone and could pull off moves no one else got close to. he was full speed win or crash. many times he could have let off with huge lead but was not his nature, he was WFO 100% do or die. I have seen in person from hannah to current riders. james was faster than them all. He had skills rhythm in whoops corner speed and ability to jump a house. Had no weak spots.

I was watching some old RC vs Stewart footage and it’s crazy how much better RC was. Am i missing something? Lots of comments saying Stewart was faster, but RC absolutely wiped the floor with him in every clip I’ve seen. I’m new to the sport, so please educate me.

RC was better racer in my opinion. But when it comes to raw speed and talent nobody could compare to James! Things he did on the dirtbike were unbelievable and for some it looked impossible until James did it. I think he changed the way of the sport! Like I mentioned in the video, he was thinking outside the box and was brave and skillful enough to do it! That's only my personal opinion though.

Because at that time the US was the top of the pile. They beat Everts they beat Cairoli and everyone in between. Around 2015 US talent took a nose dive. That why Jett’s undefeated season just isn’t as impressive as Ricky’s and James.

One of my favorite riders but let's be honest villopoto won half of the seasons in these examples. He got very very sloppy after his early 450 years. It's not to hate its just a fact, poto has the championships to show for it, James has the win list because he rode way way longer.

The 4 stroke switch is what killed James Stewart’s career the torque and speed went up and the injuries piled up. Also this video isn’t about who could put the best season together, because RC is unmatched he only got 2 or 3 seasons of SX in his entire career where he didn’t have a 95% podium ratio NO BODY else has that.

that's why track racing sucks. it's not about how fast you are, it's about who can cut someone off in a corner and line up again without feeling like a douche bag and doing it again. for upcoming supercross hopefuls, if you can do that with a straight face on the line, you're in. showboat. it's the rules, cry to the promoters and get sanctions on who's doing it back. do it when you're in the lead is different, doing while you're second making the final pass comes down to timing the finish line, wow. learn how to jump at home and cut off who's close. it's turned into hollywood, the old roller skate tv show in black and white, "roller derby."
