My college campus was right next to some logging routes and I would hear these everyday. at first I was annoyed but now I love the sound!

The reason I drive a rig now as a kid I loved the sound of the jack brake

Brings me back to the time I got to ride in the cab with my grandpa when he was bringing a cattle trailer back after hauling a load. Laying down in the sleeper and hearing the sweet purr of the Jake brake as we went down hill.

Reminds me of my boss coming to pick me up for work in his diesel work truck. I’d fall asleep on the couch in m boots with my hat on and everything and just wait for that guttural noise to let me know it’s time to go to work

The style and sound of US trucks are unmatched. Wish I could hear and see some in Germany but roads etc are just not made for these boys. Detroit diesels are a different breed haha

One of the most peaceful videos I have ever seen in my life

I used to drive Trucks in the UK and I’m working on my CDL and I can’t wait to use those jake brakes aghhh

My college is on the same highway International Paper, Georgetown and New South, Conway are. I take the same route as the log trucks so I get behind them on a regular basis. When they slow down to turn I can hear the Jake brakes on those things scream. Especially when we’re in class since the campus is located on the highway next to a stop light. The loggers take all the emissions bullshit off of their trucks so they’re straight piped. The Jake brakes and the engines are loud as shit since they don’t have anything to suppress the sound. I fucking love it. I could listen to those trucks all day.

I really want to become a semi trucker. It’s been my dream as a kid. My Uncle runs a logging truck business. I rode in his truck a few times. Ever since then I dreamed of becoming a trucker.

In colorado i have the pleasure of living next to a sloped section of high way, where every so often ill get to hear various jake brakes as semis slow down around the sloped bend to stop at the stop light below.

So satisfying to listen to

First time I heard jake breaks was in Mexican and now jake brakes are the best thing in can here frome a truck

Can anyone tell me what is the slowest rhythmically sounding engine when using a jake brake? Because i remember an engine on some trucks that would do a very powerful boom in about a 3 times a second tempo. I haven't hears one of those in a while so i am just wondering.

I always just called this engine braking. Like when you let the clutch out at high RPM in a manny tranny car. I never knew it was called a jake brake. I was watching the movie, "Black Dog" and that's what made me look it up.

Roads are mostly animal free here. Unless you get far out west in the states and have free range cattle

Because most people in this country don’t own cattle. And if they do they’re normally in a fenced off pasture so the cows don’t go in the road.

Alot of these are quieter then what they would typically be because alot of states have regulations for them to be quite to not "disturb the peace" 🙄
