Me too, been looking at blue ridge area for relocation. I'm getting tired of city madness. Seeking, tranquility, fresh air, flowing water, trails of adventure. Not forgetting great views n a sense of country life again.

Things tourists actually seem to do in Blue Ridge: 1. Drive r e a l l y s l o w l y (especially in the left lane on the highway). Speed up when a local tries to pass, then roll their BMW/SUV into a ditch. Good times for everyone! 2. Buy all the milk, eggs, and produce at Ingles and then let it rot b/c they're just going to eat out anyway. 3. Drunkenly scream "woo hoo!" all night like they don't care that the moldy kit "cabin" they rented from a cheap flip company is in someone's actual neighborhood. 4. Wander into the road wherever they please and hold up traffic downtown. 5. Wear ski vests/jackets when it's 50+ degrees outside. What the heck is this? You're not in Aspen. 6. Get lost in the woods. Or anywhere, really. 7. Talk super loudly in public places so nobody else can enjoy a quiet evening out. 8. Decide to buy a "luxury" vacation cabin here, but refuse to negotiate according to the local market, wasting their own money and driving up prices so none of the service industry workers who cater to them can afford to live here.
