Here's a letter I put in the mail on 12/25/2020 to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame : Dear Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Please nominate Dewey Bunnell, Gerry Beckley, and Dan Peek, deceased, of America for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I’ve performed, written, and recorded music since 1973. My website is almorarock.com. I’ve been an America fan since they released their first album in 1971. Like countless others, America’s music inspired me to become a musician, and the first songs I learned to play were America songs. The first song I performed onstage was “Horse With No Name” and I continue playing their music. Every time I play an America song the audience spontaneously combusts in vocal and spiritual harmony! America’s style is based on beautiful melodies; colorful, intelligent, romantic lyrics; rich chords; tasteful lead vocals; harmonies to match any band; the smoothest-of-all acoustic guitar playing; elegant piano; and grooving bass and drums. “Ventura Highway”, a poem of freedom with lilting lead vocal, three-part harmony, three interwoven guitar syncopations, and jazz bass and drums, is the archetypical America - and American - song. America songs are fine art painted from a palette of voices, wood, and steel, not algorithms. Their art merits the highest recording production quality. America's recordings are superb when they self-produced, and when crafted by the greatest producer of all, Sir George Martin. Their rock symphony piece "Inspector Mills" recalls the Beatles Abbey Road album, and shows that America's minimalist tradition was elective, not from lack of breadth or depth. America received the Best New Artist Grammy in 1972. America’s sales and charting performance during the 1970s is comparable with artists already in the Hall of Fame, including no less than Stevie Wonder. America has released albums in every decade from the seventies-to-date. America’s popularity sustains. Hundreds of America videos are posted on KZread with hundreds of millions of combined views. America's 1976 4th of July concert at Anaheim stadium was on a Woodstock latitude. America has given over 100 yearly performances around the world since the seventies, and they plan to resume as venues reopen. America’s message is progressive. “Horse With No Name” is pro-environment. “Sandman” is pro-peace. “Tin Man” is impressionistic. “I Need You” provokes love. Finally and ever so elegantly, America are worthy of their name. Their first album cover pays homage to Native Americans. Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell are America's finest touring cultural ambassadors. Discussions of America’s induction are unanimously in favor. America is already in the hall of fame of our hearts. On behalf of millions of fans and musicians around the world, I fervently insist on America’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Please reach me if there is anything more I might do to live to see America anointed in your Great Hall. Thank you, Albert Mora

Well, since this is #12, and their is a #13 from the same KZread channel..... you can find out by.... aww, it's Sister Golden Hair -- their most famous song.

Yup, Gerry have shown some moments of arrogance before. Bunnell, never ever! For their timeless contributions however, as underrated they have been, The R&RHOF org should be blasted about this.

If to throw them a bone for longevity, then yes. Other than that, America's music is/was not innovative not did it have an impact of any significance on the music industry.

@@ilovegoodsax When you have longevity (which not many bands have accomplished), then that meant you have a certain degree of relevance and impact which is worth recognizing.

First time I've ever heard an artist tell his crowd to "cease". Arrogant. P. S. Big America fan here.

I've been thinking that same thing since I heard it! Like to think that was out of character. I've seen them 3 times and they were nothing less than cordial to their crowd! Dan was still with them the first two times!

Great song. I brought this into the America tribute trio I'm in and both of the other guys vetoed it. Said they didn't like the song. Oh well, there's a guy here in Mayberry who purports to have a CSNY band but he HATES Graham Nash music. NC is a GOD-AWFUL place to be in a band. NC-SC-GA are the cultural wastelands of the east coast.
