In 1986, Oprah Winfrey had recently launched her talk show, but, as she told Mike Wallace, she always believed she would be a success.

Ya true but I was thinking her faith in god might have something to do with it, not just her faith in grandiose success. And I like how she doesn’t think the success makes her ok or worthy, it’s just a nice add on to her.

I love the way Oprah always spoke up for herself - extremely inspiring & empowering. She didn't let the man take the conversation in a way that would suit him. She just said her piece, and kept it moving. She's no body's chess piece.

This clip is from 1986. Lighting / Film technology wasn't calibrated for black skin tones back then. It wasn't until 1995 that Kodak introduced multi-racial skin color reference cards. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lmVqrrCBeaiwqtY.html Also the 1991 movie 'Boyz n the Hood' by director John Singleton pioneered many lighting techniques for black skin tones. Before then black actors would just disappear and look like a floating set of teeth in dark nighttime shots under typical lighting.

They catered cameras to white people's complexions back then they didn't want to look pale so it darkened their skin and our skin as well.
