This 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS spent time in Florida where it was acquired by the selling dealer in 2020 and now shows 12k miles. The car is finished in yellow over tan Connolly leather and is powered by a 2.9-liter V8 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a removable roof panel, air conditioning, a gated shifter, power windows, four-wheel disc brakes, quadruple Weber carburetors, a limited-slip differential, and 14” alloy wheels. Service under current ownership has included refurbishing the brakes and carburetors, and replacing the timing belt, water pump, and ignition coils. This 308 GTS is offered in Massachusetts with manufacturer’s literature, a factory tool roll, service records, and a clean Florida title.

Just saw one today at the gas station. It was a dog but still very cool. Yellow like this one. Sry, in Sarasota
The Targa was needed so Selleck would fit into the car as he was too tall for it and if you see an episode his eyes line right up with the top of the windshield frame.

The targa was needed for the helicopter shots that were planned for the show because they were already paying the cost for TC's 500D and that was all part of the plan. Selleck could fit in the 308 with the top, it was on when he stole it in the first episode. Of course he dumped it in that famous opening Bermuda grass peel-out and I don't think we ever saw it again.
What a beautifully done example as well as a well done presentation with Steve. Great show!
A couple of times Mr. Magnante references this as a 1979 model, while the emission plate clearly states it is a 1978 model. Fuel injection came out on these in 1980, and the "i" designation in the model number denoted a fuel injected vehicle. There were 2897 308GTB and GTS models made between 1975 and 1980 and only 808 of them were fiberglass. They were assembled at Ferrari's facility in Maranello, Italy. Exterior paint should be code 20-Y-490 which was called Nuevo Giallo Fly or "New Yellow Fly" in English.
This car actually looks good in yellow. Never realized they had a V8, very nice.
Has to be red, to be a real Magnum PI.
I know of one bought as a burned up body. Guy sold the engine back to Ferrari and used that money to completely restore it with the drivetrain from a Pontiac fiero.
30k damn
Why $30K for the service? We had ours done for about $8K.

8k sounds a lot better
Great interior!!!
If I paid $30k for a service on my Ferrari and they put a Fram oil filter on it I would ask for a refund.

The key is this - if you want to buy a 43 year old Ferrari and don't know how to take care of it yourself and then pay someone thirty thousand dollars to replace the cambelts, well... you're an idiot.
A lovely car but a $30,000 service means nothing more than somebody got their ass reamed. Don't buy a 40+ year old Ferrari (or any other exotic car of that age) unless you know what you're doing. A timing belt for a 308 is about twenty bucks and sure, you need two of them but come on.
who puts music over the fcar sound? seriously?
