I used to think it was “Obden” for years - comes from not having a colour telly until 1973 and the telly we had having a rubbish speaker!
Inflation calculator 500 quid in 1971 is like basically like £7227.50 pence getting posted through that letter box wow
Ken put a sock in in! Love how these early 70s episodes go to these clubs etc. - really works. Bet and Lucille rocked it.
Does anyone else notice how Hilda's stairs changed from one side of the room to the other . They used to be infront of the stairs.

Slowly but surely the good old actors /characters have died or moved on .aAlso since 2000s storylines have got either more outlandish,or boringly pc.Shame ,I used to love Corrie, now I’m indifferent, but love watching these old ,episodes full of humour and great characters.Sorry for being an old fart!
Hilda is a class act. Her comments are dynamite....” oh heck talk about Working class mentality “.

Them gogo dancers were still on the go in the late 70s up here in Scotland - i remember going to a pub with a girl from work - it was much like Bet and Lucille - i didnt know where to look
Oh dear! Annie Walker was overseeing serving beer slops. Lucille was complicit topping up that already filled pint!

That's how the drip trays got emptied back then. There'd be a riot if happened now.
What I would give to see Annie at the RNLI ball at the end of this month . . .
£500 in 1971 is about the same as £7300 in 2021 taking inflation into account.

Can't believe I was 6 years old when this was shown on itv I feel ancient now 😮
Wow. The dialogue re “the Bessie St job”. They don’t write like that any more. X
Ooh, if I was Stan and Hilda, I would have at best kept a hundred, maybe two, and waited to see if the remainder surfaced somewhere or else later on. Pay them off just enough to shut them up, then made some attempt to enjoy myself with what I held out.
