Yes, it’s a simple combo device and as long as you have power and a switch leg, you can hit two birds with one stone. Stay safe thanks for the comment.

If you are performing new work be smart and install a two gang box and separate receptacle & toggle switch. It ends up costing less ! I always purchased duplex receptacles in at least ten packs to save $. A lot if old homes do not have enough room to handle deeper devices. Worst is the extra deep combination receptacle / built in cell phone charger ports. Need two shoe horns and a rubber mallet to get them into a 2.5" deep wall case.

😂Yeah, the combo has its applications, but it is a little pricey ,most of the people that want these , want something that’s very minimalistic in existing single box . But new construction, I always try to talk them into putting a few receptacles and a single box in new construction. Most of the times i install these it’s a finish room and they have power at that box. lol one woman wanted a outlet like this at her foyer because she wanted to install a shelf to plug her phone up where she could stand at the front door and watch her kids get on the bus to go to school & can grab it before she leaves to go to work and it was a combo 25w USBC version she was very happy with it. Hey, thanks for the comment 😂 can be very hard to get some of those bigger devices some of those single boxes just gotta take your time .

Oh yeah I didn't mention that it has a light on this combo device, some people may like having this light to guide them to the switch if it's dark. This is truly a cool Device for many scenarios when all you need is a light switch and a single receptacle to plug things in to Power them up.

Violation around 9:00. The NEC states that you MUST use a torque device ( torque driver or torque wrench ) to properly torque every screw or bolt that secures wires. Has been in the code books for last ten years !

Hey, thanks for the comment. I’m aware of the torque specs. I use torque specs on all panels motor controls as far as switches and outlets go I’ve been doing them for 25 years and I just naturally know by the feel of them usually, if I check, it’s gonna be 14lbf.in

We all do that. At a IAEI continuing education class the instructor told us that UL labs went around the country and tested could have over a thousand devices & circuit breaker to check torque. It was either only 30 or 40% were properly torqued. Believe around 20% actually were over torqued and told us that is just as bad as too low of torque. If the price of the receptacles & switches that have the arm similar to Wago connectors you would only need a torque driver for circuit breakers , starters & VFD'S & for securing lugs to buss bars.

Hi, I will definitely slow it down a little & explain more on the do’s and don’ts . I have a video coming up on the topic of safety. But always making sure the electricity is turned off & identifying that before any project is the most important . Hey, thanks for the comment. It was a good question .

Is this the kind where if you turn the switch off the power to the plug is off as well?

This device can be wired to operate both ways . It works Independent right out of the box with the outlet staying hot constantly with the switch in ether off or on position , just like if they were two Separate devices .
