[110] Remove Realtor Lock Box using a Paper Clip

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Homeowners always call about these style Lock Boxes being left on their door after they purchase the home. Some realtors have forgotten the code etc.. and in this video I show you a simple way to remove it using a paper clip.
Note: This method will not work on all door knobs, but it will work on a large variety of them!

Great video Kilo, seems simple if you know, but if you don’t it’s gotta be really frustrating. Your video will definitely save some people some money-nice work 😊👏

Yeah, this is one of those calls where the service fee usually outweighs the cost of the customer/realtor just buying an entirely new door knob. This method allows them to bring the lock box into a shop and have it opened a lot cheaper than a house call would cost!

I came here expecting info on the Lock Box...I've realized how locked into a certain way of thinking I've been! Thanks for getting my head out of the box. I do now have a "poky tool" that I carry in my pick kit for removing knobs such as these. Glad to hear more videos are coming out soon! Looking forward to it!

So simple, yet so brilliant! Even I didn’t think you were gonna do that.😂😂😂 This just goes to show how seemingly complicated problems have stupidly easy solutions lol.

Customers always ask me to simply remove these, they don't care what the code is lol When they see me do this they are always mind-blown haha

How can I open a master lock realtor box on a faucet that the key pad is no longer working

If you use Kwikset door knobs, you're probably screwed. Unless you have the signature series line which has an allen set screw that you need to remove.

Right! Yeah, this video was for the other common knobs lol, Defiant is neck and neck with Kwikset now a days, it's always a toss up of which one you'll come across haha

@@LockandKilo Kwikset is my go-to brand for door hardware installations because of its secure SmartKey feature. I have it installed on every door in and out of my home. Defiant locks and other similar locks absolutely suck in my opinion due to how cheaply they're made (however at least Defiant at least made the effort to put security pins in the cylinder). I have no idea why people use the cheaper locks. I am not a professional locksmith, however it's always nice to watch your videos and I gain lots of knowledge from doing so -- keep up the good work.

@@sccpsteve Defiant is known as the "Landlord Special" due to their low price for bundle packs at the box stores. You see them a lot on homes that just sold, rental homes, apartments etc.. where the owners know the locks will most likely be changed by the new occupant eventually. Sometimes the new owners/tenants just decide to keep them as locks are just locks in their eyes and all that matters is a matching key lol Contractors also usually send their guys to pickup any cheap locks most of the time on flip-houses. Defiant markets themselves similar to Master Lock in that their price is hard to beat, their packaging and styles go with anything and local box stores always have a surplus of them haha
