Along with eleven others, Green died on July 28, 1982, when the Robertson STOL-modified Cessna 414 leased by Last Days Ministries crashed after takeoff from the private airstrip located on the LDM property. The small two-engine plane was carrying eleven passengers and the pilot, Don Burmeister, for an aerial tour[19] of the LDM property and the surrounding area. Green and two of his children, three-year-old Josiah and two-year-old Bethany, were on board the plane, along with visiting church planters, John and Dede Smalley and their six children. Green's wife Melody was at home with one-year-old Rebekah and six weeks pregnant with their fourth child, Rachel, born in March 1983.

"Your Love Broke Through" that was sang the night the Lord reached down and SAVED this lonely, devestated, heartbroken drug addicted abused and VERY LOST in the dark young girl at a little rescue mission in the heart of York PA in August 1980!!! The Lord literally scooped me up off the streets and carried me to that rescue mission and rescued my dying soul from hell!! I am, have always been and always WILL BE forever, eternally grateful for HIS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND NEVER-ENDING GRACE in my life. To this very day, i am moved each time i hear a song from Kieth Green and a message dear to my heart in each and every song! His wife, Melody has and continues to be an inspiration as she is used of God to continue the work HE began in Kieth Green many years ago! I recommend her book "No Compromise" as it is powerfully written, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and a message we ALL SO DESPERATELY NEED!! I had no idea he started out this way. A friend ( who no longer considers himself a Christian) introduced me to Keith's music in the mid-80s. I was raised Christian, but went way off course during my late teens/20s and into my early 30s. During that season, I would still listen to Keith's music on occasion (mixed in with Punk music) and it helped keep me someone grounded. I now only listen to Christian music and still occasionally pull out my old Keith Green CDs ( I think I had all of them). What an impact he made on not only my life, but the lives of so many. Praise God!

The point being discounting someone’s talents and body or work bc you don’t dig it or get it doesn’t detract from their talents and devotion. He wasn’t trying to achieve the world’s status quo’s but rather implementing his works in faith. He wasn’t even selling them at one point bc he didn’t think there should be a charge. The “hits” you’re wrapped up about, when the charts are burned and trophy’s are corrupted, his works are laid up for his eternal life and for the glory of the kingdom. Just watch Bob Dylan and see how much joy the so called charts and hits have brought him. He’d trade it all to undone that deal. I was just seventeen the summer that Keith died. About two months later, I accepted the Lord through a Christian retreat sponsored by CCF at the local university I attended; but never actually heard of Keith until the following spring. I had borrowed some magazines and tracts from my church, which were published by Last Days Ministries. The tract I most distinctly remember was, "Children: Things We Throw Away?" authored by Keith and his wife, Melody. I never even knew what abortion was, at that time; but I was horrified that people could actually _do_ this to unborn children: and so I adopted the pro-life worldview from that moment on. I didn't know that Keith had actually passed on until some time later, along with becoming acquainted with his music. Later my husband and I chose his _Song To My Parents_ as our wedding recessional; since my mother had declined to attend. It was in reading Keith Green's biography, _No Compromise_ that I first learned he'd had a secular music career before surrendering his life to Christ. Although his life's trajectory (up to that point) was significantly different from mine, I praise God that He intervenes in miraculous ways no matter where we might be, to redeem each of us for His eternal glory! 😇🥰 📖 🙏✝

hisdeathmygain Well actually, he didn't own the plane, but he did more than survey land to purchase for his ministry with that plane. He used it to fly around the country for concerts. In fact, he built a dirt runway on his property in Texas to make his travels easier. The day that he died, his plane crashed taking off from that runway. He was taking a visiting family on a site seeing tour of the area, but the plane was overloaded (mostly with young children) and crashed about a mile after takeoff.

God love him and bless him. The blonde hair looks like Josiahs. His son that was on the plane with him when it went down. They are buried side by side with his daughter. Gone way too soon! Heaven must have needed some more angels. There is no doubt in my mind that Keith is sitting near the throne. There are many Christians in this world but he was one that I call a TRUE Christian.

From his biography, I learned that Keith's path to childhood stardom was eclipsed by Donny Osmond. He turned to drugs, Eastern Religions, and a variety of escapes before becoming a Christian and a dynamite musician. His songs inspired me and encouraged me as a youth and his death touched me deeply as a college student.

I'm another one that remembers where I was when I found out about Keith Green't death. I was in my parents bedroom as a young teenager and picked up a copy of the local Christian newspaper in New Zealand, Challenge Weekly, that was lying on the bed. In that copy was the breaking story of Keith Green's death. Such was his impact on the Christian world because of his Holy Spirit-soaked music, he was known right across the world. I was certainly shocked at the time, but I also knew that he had reached the end of what he could do with music. He had already written and recorded his best songs, and was dedicating his life to global mission. But that was not to be. In a sense though, he had already done what he could for global mission by recording those songs. Think about it, anybody in the world can now listen to that anointed music on KZread and be touched in a profound way with the gospel.

Brian, Jesus taught what happens pretty clearly in the Rich Man and Lazarus, and also what He said to the thief on the cross "today you'll be with Me in paradise". Study more about why the early Christians used the term "sleep" instead of died. There's both a good short answer on KZread and a longer study if you google Our Souls Sleep until the Resurrection - Challenge Response. It's important to study the Bible in context.

maybe death, hell and heaven are outside time. I think in quantum physics multiple things can be happening at the same time. eternity is impossible for people on this earth and this world because GOD has set time limits here, but eternity is possible in New Heaven, hell/lake of fire and new earth because time doesn't exist there. the linear time line works here in this world but it doesn't apply to GOD.

Brian The LORD Jesus Christ doesn't lie and when HE told the thief he would be with HIM in Paradise HE wasn't lying. Here is an explanation about the difference between the resurrection of the body verses the soul. The Body Sleeps, Not the Soul Here is a fact that must be underscored. When the term “sleep” is used to depict the death of a person, the allusion is always to the disposition of the body, not the soul. There is no passage in the Scriptures that reflects the notion that one’s soul sleeps (i.e., is unconscious) in death. The case to the contrary may be argued briefly in the following fashion. The prophet Daniel affirmed that those who “sleep [katheudonton] in the dust of the earth shall awake” (Dan. 12:2). Note that the part of man that “sleeps” is that which is deposited in the “dust of the earth.” This obviously is a reference to the physical body. The awakening, then, is a reference to the bodily resurrection. Jesus once said to his disciples: “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep (kekoimetai - the perfect, passive of koimao); but I go that I may awake him out of sleep” (Jn. 11:11). In view of the subsequent context, the “awakening” clearly refers to the resurrection of Lazarus’ body (vv. 43-44). The verb koimao derives from the root keimai, “to lie down.” In death, it is only the “body” that lies down (not the soul); hence, it is the body that sleeps. W. E. Vine notes that keimai, “to lie down,” stands as an antonym to “resurrection” (anastasis - from ana, “up,” and histemi, “to cause to stand” - see: Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words under “Asleep”). Since that which will “stand up” is the body; it follows that the element of man that “lies down” or “sleeps” likewise is the body. The early Christians even called their burial grounds koimeteria, “sleeping places,” and from this term derives our modern word, “cemetery,” a place to which we transport the bodies of our loved ones. ➡️ The term sleep says absolutely nothing about the state of the soul after death.

j sclar The LORD Jesus Christ doesn't lie. like the article excerptt I posted above, the body and soul are separate. The body can sleep and remain on the earth. The Soul is separated from the body. Before the resurrection of the LORD Jesus Christ there was a paradise and lake of fire. The dead seen walking in the street after the resurrection of the LORD Jesus Christ came up from the Paradise side. The LORD Jesus Christ took the keys of hell and Freed the people who were separated from GOD (because they lived and died before the LORD Jesus Christ paid the price for their sins, their sins were covered by sacrifices of animal blood but only the Holy Blood of the LORD Jesus Christ could remove their sins so they could be with GOD for eternity.) Even in the Parable of Lazarus and the rich man the LORD Jesus Christ explained there used to be two separate areas for the souls of the dead. one was fire and the other was paradise. Luke 23: 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Very similar to Pat Boone, starting out as a popular artist. Glad he went into Christian music from there!

I still have originally released albums and cassettes of Keith's from the 1980s. Gone way too soon! I had no idea he was writing songs at such a young age.

This is so cute and endearing. I'm so grateful for what the Lord did with his talent to end up blessing millions and now, millions more, as they discover him through digital platforms like this one. Can't wait to see my brother Keith and worship the Lord together with him!

Thank God the Lord didn't allowed him to have success. Although it must have been very hard because he already was very talented but His plans are higher than ours. And later he wrote the most Scriptures inspired songs. They were very important to me and through them God brought me to be His daughter, almost 4 years ago now. What is amazing is that Keith and Melody ministry were in the late 70's and I am in my late thirties.. Their songs are transversal and will continue, thanks to the Lord. Help us all to trust in Your plans and not our own. Amen.

@belinda hawkins in the documentary about his adult life, he actually struggled a lot to get a record deal later. That's typical of tiny artists with huge success, it's easy to sign them as kiddos but difficult to maintain. The bottom line is God didn't want him to sign cause He had greater things for him, and us..
