    1. It's never too early to get started. 2. Take your Time. Nothing wrong with a long engagement. It gives you longer to research and plan. 3. Research Everything! 4. Keep it Simple. 5. Plan in bursts. Plan for two weeks and take three weeks off and don't even think about planning/wedding stuff. 6. Pawn off the little things. You don't have to do everything. Your family and friends are happy to help you with things so let them! 7. Trust your vendors aka the people you hired. 8. Cut the Silly stuff. 9. Put the Pinterest boards to bed. 10. Know yourself! and prioritize accordingly. 11. Enjoy the Process! 💕

Actually, I thought it was a great time. Absolutely no pressure to have anybody at my wedding. Nice and quick online elopement over Zoom. Crazy introverts like me weren't really looking forward to having a bunch of people at a wedding anyway, and covid was the perfect escape.

I'm nearing the end of a 24 month engagement. I got all of the big stuff out of the way early on, and now just have some small details to iron out. The biggest stress-reducer for me has been delegating to my mom (she's type A and can make phone calls/do research for days), and forgoing all of the things that don't matter to me (or, according to you, my guests). My mantra has been "I don't have to do anything I don't want to do". It's working great so far.

I'm using wedding planning (for a wedding that is presently non existent) as a sanity break from the stressful life of becoming a doctor of medicine 😂😂😂 I don't even have boyfriend right now. But I'm loving the process, even if im just compiling ideas, researching prospective vendors, compiling inspirations, watching vlogs and Jamie 😂. I love it. It kinds of give me something to look forward to in the future 🥰

I’m doing my reception a couple months after the ceremony when the weather will be better for an outdoor reception. Also, since the wedding is the part I super care about I’m keeping control of the wedding and letting my soon to be MIL run wild on the reception. She wants to pay for things so I’ve told her what our concept is and what will be 100% be skipping and have sent her forth to do what she will. It’s surprisingly non-stressful since I’ll be getting what I want for the wedding.

I'm getting married next week and have been binging your videos!! I 100% agree with every single tip here. I started to get whiplash from nodding my head in agreement so much!! Instead of a traditional wedding shower, my MoH and I came up with the idea to have some drinks and food at a local bar and called it "Wedding Planning is Hard, Let's Drink" and invited family and close friends. It was one of the best decisions, because it really kept everything in perspective :)

My finance and I got engaged in November and we decided to wait on talking about the wedding at all until I finished my fall semester at grad school. And I'm naturally a planner, but I absolutely agree with planning in bursts. We've selected our venue and photographer together and my fiance is a music teacher and musician so he's handling the music. And I like crafts, so I have ideas about how to DIY the centerpieces, bouquets, wedding signs and other decorations, but I'm not going to get into that until after I graduate this May. School has been a wonderful reason not to think about the wedding, because I have to focus on finishing and graduating. It also saves me from spending too much money at once lol. But it also makes me really excited to continue to planning and not feel like I'm rushing through anything

So my husband and I haven’t gotten to have our wedding yet. We are hoping in a couple years we’ll be able to afford it. But when we got engaged and were right in the midst of planning, we would take a break from doing all the busy and expensive things to just go do silly parts of the process. We were bored one night and didn’t want to discuss details of the actual day, so we decided to got to target, download the app, and go NUTS with the wedding registry. Trex salt shakers and all. We’ll of course need to redo it when our actual day comes since that was two years ago, but we had so much fun just imagining all these things in our home, running around target in sweatpants and messy hair at 9pm on a like a Wednesday. We didn’t take it too seriously and we just let ourselves laugh. It is so important to just make these moments fun with your spouse.

This makes me feel better for taking more than the normal 6 months to a year and buying up all of my pieces as I go it makes things so much more relaxing and fun because you don't feel a giant time crunch waying down on top of you I gave myself extra time since after we got engaged we also found out the at I was three months pregnant its been three years since then so now we are taking everything slow so we don't get over stresses with the wedding planning and being parents to a crazy and adorable toddler hopefully we can be married before he's five but if not oh well lol

Oh girl you are my lifeline! Personally I love having a long engagement, it gives me time to entertain all different ideas until I find something that really feels brilliant. My two big problems will be to settle with something and stop coming up with new ideas, and to make sure my fiance is on board. He's a bit more traditional than me and seems to think half of my ideas are crazy. We've been together 10 years so I know him and he's more laid back and chill and I'm definitely the crazy one. Any tips on how to make sure I don't make it MY wedding instead of OURS? Anytime we make plans to plan it ends up with him being a bit sceptical but not really having suggestions himself. I know he doesn't mean anything by it but it gets a bit disheartning and makes my anxiety prone brain go a hundred miles and hour. Since we have a long engagement there isn't a sense of urgent either which I feel is the main reason his so chill about it, whereas I want to make sure we book everything well in advance. So yeah, how do I make sure I dont steam roll over my chill fiance? Lots of love from an constantly over cafeinated swede ❤❤

I watched your video on planning during the pandemic, and now I found this one. My family thinks I am crazy, I got engaged 5/30/2020 and I am planning on getting married 10/2/2021, they think I should have it THIS YEAR YET!!!! We are in no rush to do so and would prefer not to get married during the height of a pandemic, even next fall could be pushing it honestly. But I am getting the big things that I can get done from my couch done now, guest list and addresses are almost collected, this may get edited down once we can officially secure the event hall, right now we are just "penciled in" due to the pandemic. Amazon is amazing as I can get things ordered to start any DIY projects and I don't need to worry about wedding dress shopping until after Labor Day. The shops in my state are already open by appointment only so I can physically go in and look at the dresses. That brings me to a question, by the way, any advice for dress shopping for a plus-size bride, I'm assuming I can't actually try on dresses in a store because they only carry sample sizes. At least this was my experience with brides-maids dress shopping.

Great advice for a bride to be! I get married this October and you hit all the major things that have helped me keep sane: 14 month engagement; planning in bursts (my #1 sanity saver); hiring a wedding planner; and planning ahead by getting any tasks done that you can ahead of time. I would add one thing: SPREADSHEETS. From guest lists to RSVP responses and logging who sent what wedding gifts... spreadsheets are a must!

Totally agree on the “never too early to start planning” point! I’ve done it in the extreme... I’ve been planning my wedding since I was 15 years old. What young girl hasn’t at least considered what their special day will be like? Although I’ve never been proposed to (it is now in the cards though!), I’m so grateful for all that extra time that helped me hone in on what I want. Over the years, the general aesthetic has changed slightly (of course I’m not into the same things as when I was 15), and obviously, when my boyfriend proposes we’ll discuss the ideas I’ve come up with so he can have his input - he’s actually seen the planning already and is happy with it and more than okay with letting me take the reigns - but at least this way, when the time comes, I’ll already be months ahead in the planning process! :)

I tend to bring a lot of anxiety upon myself so to help keep that at bay, planning as much as possible as early as possible helps me a ton! I ended up doing all of the research and booking all my vendors in 3 weeks which is great! But then I got exhausted so I forced myself to put the laptop down and Pinterest away for a few days which was so mentally refreshing! But working out, doing things that I enjoy doing like getting a mani/pedi, all while taking my time to fill in the details between now and the wedding are helping me keep the stress levels low. Probably until a month before the wedding then I’ll start freaking out again 😅

Our new goal is to book our photographer by the end of July, so we're searching them now. Then taking our time to book our DJ by the end of September and so forth. I understand you mentioned I should not have a friend coordinate the wedding day. But my officemate/friend has had experiences with events. Plus I'm saving. Doing a 12 month process though, and I'm type a A. :D off to my point, what I do to keep my sanity is, (im on my 8th month, wohoo!), I send links of your videos to my coordinator/friend! hah!

I'm having a 3 year and 2 month engagement, so I have been able to do one thing at a time and really focus on getting exactly what I want. Plus we booked the venue last December and the wedding is next December (2019) and there is a ball being held there this December - that is open to the public with really reasonable ticket prices and a theme very similar to what we want to do. So I'm getting tickets and we are going to go check out how they do the decor and get ideas that way. And I destress by baking and giving the goodies away.

I had 6 months to plan my wedding due to time constraints from my fiance's employer, as my fiance lives outside my state. We'll see how the wedding goes in December lol

good points but feedback would be to calm down your energy when you're delivering content about mitigating wedding planning stress. I was stressed out after trying to get started on piece of planning, which is why i clicked on the video, but now im feeling more stressed rather than less just based off the chaotic energy in the video. Again, good points overall for us planning brides but this is my honest feedback which can be rare to get from a stranger.

I like a lot of your stuff. But I do think there is a problem with 12+month engagements. Of course, part of the problem is people have no morals these days and live together and have no limits, and then wonder why they have problems… but if you prioritize your marriage, behave, shorten your engagement, plan small, and don’t try to make a “dream” - make a LIFE together. Make long-term marriage the priority over a one day party, by a long shot.
