Was just in Japan a couple weeks ago. Actually was supposed to be in the “old” business class from ORD but got swapped to the “new” business class. Definitely was the best surprise ever!

I flew the old product from SEA to HND in 2023. I seam to remember the entertainment system had an "ipod" jack 🤣

I love ANA business class, both old and new business class. Both are FANTASTIC!!! I agree on the ramen! Yummy!

This happened to me on my way back to America. I flew round trip first class. On the way there I flew the new product. On the way back, they had a last-minute product change to the old product. It didn't bother me that much since I got to experience the new product on the way to Japan, but many of the people flying in business class were heated 😅 although a downgrade, still a nice experience in first, but the business class is a clearly a much bigger drop in comfort and space.

It's good content to review old vs new! Seb was so hyped to finally fly "The Room." The disappointment on his face when he asked about it at the check-in counter, and the staff looked confused. 😅

I flew EVA from BKK-TPE-SFO. The 787 from BKK was their newer product, which is configured like ANA's old product. I really liked those seats. Like you I prefer the seat closer to the window. As a plus you have a buffer between yourself and the aisle. The longer TPE-SFO leg was a 15 year-old 777 with quite frankly barely acceptable reverse herringbone seats. At 196cm tall with size 45 feet I really noticed the lack of leg room and small foot wells. I only managed a few hours sleep and when awake the ancient IFE was small and blurry.

Would you say any JAL business nighttime beats the old ANA hard business product Mandy? Especially considering the limited menu?

I personally like JAL vs ANA old product. New product is a different story. ANA is one of the only airlines with a limited menu for red eye flights. Flown a few international business class red eyes before, and they usually go straight into dinner service and dim the lights after.

Spending the cash or points for red-eye business class is on the low end of the value scale for me. Also sad that you got a plane swap, but that happens.

Mistakes were made...lessons learned. Will be sure to check flight menus next time 😩 I don't mind red eye flights for domestic coast to coast, esp if I get a free upgrade to business class.
