Great ideas. I store my ink pads in a wooden cassette holder too. It’s huge and I only paid $5.00 for it at goodwill. Thrift stores are good places to find these along with other things to use for storage. I also store my alcohol markers in the same way as you do. Tiered stands for kitchen spices work great for stickles, Nuvo drops, pops of color, etc. I love how you store your stencils.

I store my Stamping up markers in a DVD case with a blank DVD case in every other section to form a "shelf" for the markers.

I store all my pens, brushes, markers, colored pencils, pencils, etc in reused jars or tin cans. Free! The color ones are broken into color families; pencils into softness (B,2B, etc) watercolors brushes, oil paint brushes each in own jars. I can choose the size I need, as well, including tiny tins for when the pencils get shorter. I struggled with a way to make sketchbooks accessible, without having to break down the pile every time I wanted a particular pad. Then it hit me - to store them like books. The main storage item in my studio is a 5' x 6.5' x 18" industrial piece with 5 shelves, where the spacing between the shelves is adjustable. So then I relegate categories to each shelf - paper, mark makers, inks, paints, etc.

Lipstick holders are great for markers and paint pens. You can get them that hold 40 to 50 markers/lipsticks for under $10. There is all sorts of fun shapes and sizes, even rotating ones. Love those that rotate. If you turn them on their side you can stack them up to look like yours did here or hang them on a wall in front of your work area. You just have to flip storage containers around and see the different ways they can be used, not everything has to used in the way it was intended. Sometimes we get hung up on that and miss great storage opportunities. 🤗

I could just be in that room all day long! Everything is so perfectly organized. I came away with some ideas tfs!

OK Mary Keep ‘em coming….I am in the mood to de-clutter. Went thru the “I want everything where I can see it”. Stage and am now entering “ I would like to see all of that beautiful empty counter top” again. I now realize the first stage was a good idea, just not the put it on in organizers on my counters! Going to take a few drawers and shelves at a time. Hope to use many of your clever and economical idea’s. Everything in it’s place….here I come!

I use a photo album for my stencils. It holds 100 stencils in one place! And no need to buy extra pages

I don’t have alcohol markers yet but I very recently emailed Newell, the company that makes Sharpies to ask as I saw so many conflicting info online on how to store. Received fantastic customer service! Rep said for permanent markers, tip down or flat, or flat for dual tips; paint markers tip up, pens tip down; highlighters depends on if tip up or down in packaging - store same way. LOVE your video's Mary! Really liked the cheap paper towel rack, from Dollar Tree, for the big rolls of tapes. 👌 When you did the over-all shot of your work-space. I got a huge smile when seeing the little lights all around your desk 😽. As a glass artist I have a BIG light pad. Hence, I am into "lights" of any kind. Your little room is wonderful. I am sure that you feel happiness & peace when you create in there. My card spot is VERY small. So, I have to be organized. Where-as my art studio is very large. But, in either spot, I feel calm and peace for creative purposes. Good job on your "creative" space.

The benefit of bookENDS is that that system is f l e x i b l e, but not always substantial (may have the tendency to slide?). Magazine Racks are usually substantial, but may not fit the available space. ⚖️ 😱!!

I have up cycled Crystal Light containers to store my markers and colored pencils. They do stack neatly on top of each other but I did hot glue them together for stability.

For the container with small compartments I have repurposed mine and my husbands fishing tackle boxes. The containers are usually an A4 size and the smaller compartments inside have removable dividers, allowing you to make them as big or small as needed. 😊

I gave away 99% of my alcohol markers and 100% of my alcohol inks - the fumes were too strong for me. Fumes made me nauseous. Now they live happily at my LSS!. Most of my other pens, pencils, and markers are stored in mugs or vases - sitting on various sized Lazy Susans. Lazy Susans are a crafter's life saver! tfs!

I started using an ergonomical eraser with my stamping platform years ago, sure wish I had sold the idea to craft companies back then. LOL 😆 I also use cassette holders for all my ink pads thanks to an older video by you. As far as white cardstock goes I used to use accent smooth white cardstock from Amazon however it seems like good cardstock is just very hard to find for a good price at the moment.

Hi Mary. I store my markers 2 ways. I bought the marker towers from Stamp n Store for my alcohol markers. For a less expensive way - and how I store all of my tombo brush tips & SU dual brush tips. I use 2" PVC tube cut to 4" in length. I painted them teal to match my studio then pyramid stacked them (and glued together with E6000) and store the markers in rainbow order. For Alcohol Sharpies, I use the same tubes but have them vertical and store the markers tip side down by color. I'll be doing a studio tour later this Spring (early summer) to show. Creative Blessings!

Oooh this sounds great, I wish you had a picture.

Before my husband 3d printed my current marker rack, I bought plastic drawer dividers with slits for putting them together, made a grid with them, and put it in a box. When on its side it's not as good as a marker rack, but it's the next best thing for those who like individual marker spots.

I saw fitted cases that must be for nail polish at a thrift store. Another place to look is by the cash register when shopping, pick up some small boxes meant for candy displays. They get thrown out. Also try plastic tackle boxes. We live in a 2BR condo, all my supplies fit under my bed, or on one shelf. I sort by beads, paper crafting, ribbons, and yarn. Thank you so much; they were the cheapest from ikea, like $80 each I think.

I also use cassette tape storage for some of my inks. These are really old one - the kind that have drawers - that belonged to my dad. Just pull out the drawer and find the color I want. I also store my blender brushes in a wall "stand" from Harbor Freight used for screwdrivers. Works great! Thanks for sharing all your ideas!

What a lovely room you have created! I think I want one of those letter boards- very stylish! I really like what you've managed to do and I like the finishing touches too. What I have learnt doing my making room is that its hard to make storage for the things that never got stored properly in the first place so I'm trying to develop that! My priority is the big clear boxes for things to go in the attic/shed like our archery equipment and bushcraft as we are not using these currently.

May I suggest you put an entry into your phone’s ADDRESS BOOK (as t h a t is searchable!) as to where - and what - is stored “elsewhere”. In my house, those kinds of “stored because - for N O W - we’re not using it” becomes a way station on the way to the dump, a resale center, or a home for non-rent-paying critters. Just a thought …

I store my large ink pads in the old radio Shack Cassett holders I found I at goodwill. For my alcohol markers, I use ArtBin 6934AB Satchel with Marker Tray, From Amazon. Most of my stamp pads are minis that sit in an old trunk that has drawn and is on wheels.

Found out recently that Sharpies should be stored tip down. I had a few that I had never used...dried out (I thought) I was angry as I had never used them. Saw this tip on YT, turned them tip down waited a day or so and WOW...they all came back to life! Now all of my Sharpies are stored that way...but...unless you have a clear container, you can't see the color! A few (very few) have color on both ends.

You are doing correct if not for cheap!

This is the way I store my alcohol markers and it works well, level and out in sight. My units are on a bookshelf unit with one removed shelf as they become tall. It's right to the right of my desk.

I always love your videos. I like how you store your pops of color and the stencils. I had gotten from the Container Store little maybe 6x6 square containers for my copies that can stack. I think Jennifer McGuire had a video awhile ago. I just searched the Container Store and they must not have them anymore. Mary your tips and suggestions are always so helpful. Please if you come up with anymore organizational ideas I would love a video. I recently moved AGAIN, have a small area. Do you have any ideas for storing 6x6 paper! Right now they are in my rolling cart on all 3 shelves 🫣🤦🏻‍♀️. I want something that looks neat and that I can see what I have!! Thanks for hearing me out!!! I live in FL if anyone would like to come a help haha. I have a TON of stamps you can play with. Lol.

Great ideas! I’ve been on the lookout for a used cassette rack for years. I currently have my inks in a plastic storage case that’s almost full. I have my Stickles in a plastic case that holds each bottle upside down-great for the infrequent crafter. Got it on sale for half price or less a LONG time ago. Two trays hold a total of 64 bottles with enough room between for larger bottles lying flat or a long row of the normal size. I put cotton swabs, toothpicks, pins, and small brushes in the nooks and crannies. I watch most of your videos, because I find you informative AND entertaining. On most KZread channels, I don’t bother with most longer videos.

Hi Jackie, I guess that depends on the size of the sticker sheets. Figure out what kind of storage option fits you best. Do you like to see them out (like in a bin they sit up in) or do you like stuff tucked away (organized in a file system). Great minds think alike! I do very similar. My alcohol markers are in the same holders but mine are clear. And I have a row that is not used and then I have my watercolor markers below. My pops of color are in their holders but they are on the wall. I will show you a picture of them. My stencils and my embossing folders are in binders. My paper is in a sorter too but I bought the Tiffany sorter because she had movable dividers for sections. My Sizzix equipment was living nicely on a 3 tier craft cart, TILL, I got the switch and now trying to rearrange for it. I am a distress Oxide girl & Catherine Pooler and stored in the same rack as you (as I got the idea from you!!!) and I painted mine white also. I will need a second soon and not sure where I am going to mount it as my wall space is AHHHH! all taken up. I don't remember if there was something else but I am proud of me.... because I have my goods stored like one of the pros!! hehehe😂 Thanks once again for the share!!

A lot of them I made myself with stamps but the one with Catherine Pooler inks, the document has it labeled and I got it from her website

I have what you store you pens but i have different sets so i think i am going to store them in tin cans and put what they are on the side,so i know what they are.

Awesome idea, that sounds like it will be great.

I found that the popular way to store markers, gel pens, and pens in general of on their side is actually wrong. I know shocking, but it is a trick to dry them out sooner and you'll go buy more. I tried it and my markers started to go dry. By storing them on their side the ink stays and dries in the middle. But if you store them traditionally on their tip all the ink will collect on the tip giving you longer play time with your pens. When it's on its side the ink spreads out thin the length of the marker making it potentially dry out sooner because of the space then created in the barrel of air. An easy fix for dry markers take out the tip with needle nose pliers or gently with scissors and drop a few drops of water put the tip back wait for the water to rehydrate the felt inside and your favorite marker will work just fine in about 15 minutes if it doesn't it needs more water. I learned that trick from videos on here. I think alcohol markers you would rehydrate with more alcohol but I've never tried that since I don't own any because of the smell.

I’m reorganizing my craft room. I didn’t care for the paper towel holder for my tapes so I’ve put up a peg board and now keep them on there. I have tape 6”, 2.5”, 2”, 1”, 1/2”, 1/4, and 1/8” wide. I keep each on separate hooks. Seems so much easier to access each size. I have hooks to keep decorative scissors on. I now put extra glues in baskets on the pegboard. Too much stuff was clutter in my work space. I don’t have many normal ink pads except bout 24 Oxide inks. I store in TH tins. The Distress inks I gave away and just kept the mini one and also store those in TH mini tins. I have lots of dies. I know store my most frequently used dies in a frame that has magnetic sheets bi keep this frame behind my door to the room and my Vagabond is right next to it stored on a repurposed microwave cart. I store extra plates and equipment in the drawers of the cart. It’s fun to ssee what others find to store their items.

Peg boards are so very useful! YES thank you for sharing that.

I could never have all of those small things out in the open. The dusting alone for it would drive me crazy, let alone all of that stuff out in the open. I'm in awe of people who can do that.

Haha! I NEVER thought of that but you are totally right. My last house got so dusty it was incredibly frustrating but this one hardly any! Great point for sure!

@@marypolancodesigns yes, I could paste a photo on Facebook I would show you. Its great. I have each section separated by color family. and I personally don't like one separate spot per marker. If I pull out a bunch. I have to know where to put them back and it baffles me.

For folks who keep fewer letters cut out, coin storage pages for a binder work, too. (But you can't store as many of any given letter that way.)

having tried many different types of marker storage, I have the Crafters Companion trays just like yours. It works best for me. I love the fact that I can make it fit into just about any space.

Good to know the cassette cases fit the ink pads. I keep putting one in my Amazon cart and then removing it. I guess I will have to order it. How many pads does the ones you have hold? I don't make cards as often as you but I use a dollar tree napkin holder to keep my cut cardstock. I put them in stamp storage bags, label it and use the napkin holder to keep them upright.

I wish the ink pad storage was cheaper but the actual ones for ink pads is CRAZY expensive! To me this was worth it.
