I bought the Ovning cart for my craft corner - I saw it in a magazine and looked for it last time I was in the store. It is very nice especially the top tray-like area - great for items I reach for often. Bonus points for the metal top that can accommodate magnetic hooks/boxes whatever. I’m a knitter/crocheter so I place my project bags in the cubbies! Thanks for the video!

Hi Elisa, I completely agree with you on utilizing vertical areas to maximize storage space so I like the newer squared bulletin board and some of the wall shelves too. I also love the picture ledges. I want to get a craft cart and was considering looking at JoAnn and at Michael’s so thank you for pointing out what IKEA has to offer. I haven’t been to IKEA in several years so I really need to take a day and go check them out. Thanks for your tips and assessments of IKEA pieces as they can be used or adapted to use in a craft space.

Thank you for the video! I love the Snickra grid and the Nisafors cart. I love the idea of the lower sides to the cart and will definitely be checking it out. I've used the picture ledges in a previous craft room for all my rolls of ribbon. It looked pretty and made my ribbon much more accessible! My husband made "ends" to the end of each ledge so the ribbon didn't fall off.

I have the new green and white rolling cart (nissafors?) and I'm IN LOVE!! The top area holds my big shot, paper trimmer, and cropidile, I have flat slide-in storage on the shorter storage, and the taller cubby has my 12x12 paper pads standing on end - perfect size! Also love that the mesh area is the same as their peg boards for hanging cups and hooks. It's actually my first dedicated crafting storage and I couldn't be happier.

I was at IKEA today picking up things for my studio. My second 2 hour+ trip in April! I just moved and my new space is smaller and I am dialing in efficient new pieces with some older items. I had the Snikra in my hand but it didn’t have a tag and I didn’t realize what a value it was. I went with a second narrow Skadis and more accessories. I do like the Kallax for holding my bins of quilting fabrics. I also picked up a Mosslanda shelf for my smaller rulers.

I bought two of those Ovning carts a few months ago and I love them. They are heavy to push about but hold so much . Its a pity there are no shelves, drawers, doors for the unit like as for the Kallex . I customized mine by attached an ikea pegboard easily to one side. The main compartments are exactly A4 size and as I found it difficult to reach stuff at the back I put an A4 piece of ply wood onto sliders ( white plastic stick on from Temu ) so it now slided the contents out easily. I also felt that a couple of drawers were needed and A4 boxes from the range fit perfectly although to stack them a little thought is needed as there needs to be a little gap if your fitting two on top of each other. I covered the fronts of the boxes in a sage green floral print, printed on my computer on 120g paper , stuck to the front and sides and finally covered with clear contact. Just the handles to go on the drawers and a couple of knobs on the slid outs.

6:26 Yes, removing from sight all those pretties, especially the good scissors...Lockable would be a nice touch. Just saw very recently somewhere, someone had bought two larger than normal cutting boards from Ikea, which would fit over a regular sized stove top to increase food preparation area. If that were an issue, and nothing to do with craft rooms, unless you needed to use your kitchen for certain craft of course.

I love the Ivar system, one thing no one ever seems to mention is that as it is made from line wood it is a lot lighter in weight than particle board and mdf. Plus it is easy to screw on accessories. It has also got a lot of steel shelves and cupboards which are useful if you want to attach magnetic items.

Honestly, even with the cost of wood the Norberg desk could be made with the fold up table. The only problem would be as the desk currently is it hides the supports when down. Folding up would leave them exposed, or require a different hidden support.

She doesn’t like the big cubes or big bins put in them because stuff isn’t organized, just all piled in there and it gets expensive to add inserts, if I remember correctly. (But of course there are tons of inserts by Ikea and other companies so there’s no need to just have a big open bin.)

I don't really like the inflexibility of the shelves, and tend to think that when you use the big square bins, most things end up in a "black hole" of sorts. I do know that there are lots of options for organizing within the cubes, I just happen to think bookshelves like the Billy Bookcase system provide you with more options.

@@ScrappyWife I love Billy too - but the shelves can sag unless they’ve fixed it. But I also love Expedit (almost the same as Kallax) and have a 2x4 on casters so the entire top is like a counter - a surface for my printer, a lamp and other items. I only have one open bin in the 8 cubes. The rest are divided into 4 sections (like a cross hatch), shelves for paper, drawer units that can fit inside or sit on top of a table, etc. So versatile.

@@ScrappyWifethere’s a huge amount of flexibility, probably more than with a standard bookshelf. : ) Not sure why you’re so focused on big square bins. That’s like saying a Billy bookcase isn’t any good because it doesn’t come with book ends. No one has to have big square bins with the dozens (hundreds?) of options to divide up the cubes to individualize them, beyond what Ikea offers, though Ikea is creating more and more inserts. Paper dividers, dividers to partition cubes into four small cubes (love the one for my laminator, rolls of various stuff, some longish tools), chipboard or cardboard drawer units that can be put on a table, permanent drawers, even a bin designed as a cat bed. Confession: I have one large bin. I have an old sweatshirt and an massively oversized t-shirt in it that’s used like a smock.

That video just left me in a panic attack. Too much. I don't think I am an IKEA type shopper. I love so much of what you showed in the video, but I couldn't possibly figure out what I would need. I just need someone to design a room for me, go to IKEA, buy it and install it. I'm much too nervous for this task.

I love that you can take your time to make plans online, maybe even draw out your space and make a shopping list before going to IKEA. The store can be overwhelming for sure!
