10th to 2nd! LAST LAP DOUBLE PASS! 26 Lap Final

Спорт

Unfortunately, we were underweight by .5lb after qualifying pole. After having to start in 40th every heat race, we were able to start the final 10th. Not the result we wanted but still a fun weekend!

It is always interesting to see how people race you different than they would race the average racer. Definitely makes getting to the front much harder. There are several instances in this race in which the competitor clearly becomes focused on racing (or keeping you behind them). A smart racer who isn't ego driven would likely make the choice to team up with you quickly knowing helping you would help them rather than focusing on the race itself. As a result, a lot of track position is lost for both you and them. In addition to dealing with them, you also then are having to deal with your own frustration / emotions that could also have a negative impact on your race. Hence a race like this finishing third is almost more impressive than a lot of races which you have won.

Look Ryan, you are fast no doubt, but you need to stop with this nobody should be racing me attitude, do you think the guys are just going to let you get into a groove and not try to mess with you. Just race!!

Valid point but Ryan looks at the race from the big picture. The more he races the guys in the midflield the further away the lead pack gets. He probably just wants to get past them and catch up to the front

Overall it seemed like a crazy race! Nobody wants you to win and they try to frustrate you, which they did very well, proven in 11:54 and 14:35. Though these moves are just hard racing there was a way to better execute each move. In 11:54 you did the right thing on entry but then payed to much attention to the green kart on the outside where you could have just squeezed him down to the apex and not lost the other 2 positions you lost because of that. In 14:35 there was no need to get rid of the other driver. You could have released the brakes once next to the kart and squeezed him out on exit giving you a better run and losing less time. But rather you braked to much then had to get rid of the driver that had no right to be taken out of the race in the way he was. I have won the Australian Kart Championship where you previously raced and have finished as high as p15 in WSK competition. If I ever had a chance to drive against you when you had driven like that I would probably get rid of you. In these 2 instances I did not like the driving but the rest of the race was like a masterclass to watch! Keep up the good work Ryan and hopefully you take on this feedback!

Thanks for sharing, as always! Would love to know more about the whole “overturned penalty” process. Was it just a matter of protesting and showing the video to the race officials? As someone who watched all weekend on kart chaser, would be awesome to know how things shake out and why!

Hey Ryan, may I ask why you pull yourself towards the wheel on the straights? I've seen people put their head down to reduce air resistance but it seems you did it a lot for a shorter time than those people. Just curious as may help my racing! :))

@@sebsimo Ehh I don't think so. He established position in that corner and it was entirely his corner. The other kart isnt even alongside him at the apex. Ryan then continues exiting that corner on the racing line through the mid to exit when the other kart comes up the outside on the corner exit. There was never going to be room for the other kart. When they collide, Ryan is steering to the right away from the other driver. IMO, the other driver should have backed out as there was clearly not going to be room.

@@spencergiles72 you make a valid point. However I do think that he wasn't really turning right when the other driver hit him. I believe Ryan could've avoided the crash though I also believe it was not intentional and that maybe he believed the other driver had more space on the track
