That is very true - but in that case it's better to choose a video with someone speaking or singing. My go-to video to test sound is "Pentatonix - Daft Punk - 10 hours" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaBmm8inlty9gNY.html ) It has a very good range of treble and bass.. and a very good song too.

Yep. I have gone back to windows 10 for that reason. The delay was insane. No issues in windows 10 though.

update on 15th september 2023, the delay is still there

why all this obstruction? All this motion literally blurs the issue and makes it infinitely harder to tell

I slowed it down and turns out I do have a sound delay, the question is how do I fix it. The delay is like 1/4 of a second but I can still notice when people talk.

250ms is quite much delay so it should definitely be noticeable. Tell us more about your setup? what's the video source and how is it connected to the display?

@@mayumidealbabarrera2927 so you're just playing this KZread video and the laptop display is delayed by 250ms? My first guess is that your CPU is running warm due to a faulty/clogged fan and/or that you need to change the "chrome flags" to force the laptop to render video with hardware rendering. Could also be a question of sound device drivers.

How do I use this to test for latency?

this is for checking sound sync mostly - e.g. if your picture is ahead or behind the sound. The animations is there for you to be able to predict where the sound "should be". if you want to test delay you could have two monitors side by side - one that's direct and one using the device you'd like to test (like a wireless tranceiver for instance). Then take a photo of both screens and compare the timecode. If you'd like to test latency when doing remote productions - e.g. if you have a feed from far away - we usually use the website Time.is/Just which always shows correct time no matter what the time is set on their pc. By sending that feed from the remote location you can easely compare it with what your own time say.
