This game came out falling behind on its promises, and being underwhelming, and today is now one of the best and most impressive games ever made

The game isn't about exploration, it's about sightseeing. All the planets have already been explored by alien races, and they all seem to have bases of some sort on them. All the creature races have already been named by them too.

I don't know what problem everyone has with the pc version... I can run the game with the highest settings without problems and I still have decent framerates.

Fact 108, the game has pretty much killed itself already with the Steam release. What you can buy right now is more or less a rotting corpse that's worth 60€.

the box for the disc game says it has multiplayer, and 2 streamers found eachother, and yes the bug were they couldnt see eachother was fixed.

I REALLY hope your not being serious or the comment war of "Minecraft is a copy of Terraria, Starbound is a copy of Terraria" m8 PLS Starbound and Terraria different games, sure they seem similar because they are. Their art style and gameplay style is the same but the difference is if you like Killing stuff mindlessly or like getting more loot and loot as you go killing bosses, choose Terraria, If you like exploring and finding materials or just like a nice story, go for Starbound.

Funny that two people found each other on the first day of release since they said it would be so rare.

Would be interesting to see some of those planets that didn't turn out very well.

They should have left the wild terrain generation, but made it slightly rarer. It could still work if they made ship flying a little more free by say toning down the launch thruster cost and removing the invisible wall that keeps you from going too low.

***** Do you know who Totalbiscuit is? In that case, watch his video on the topic. He's a youtuber who plays videogames for a living, so his' PC has to be able to run pretty much anything. He had trouble with it too. It doesn't matter what your specs are, the game is badly optimized for a majority of PC's. Sure, it works on some, but for half of the people who play it, it's simply unbearable.

One question: you're playing offline. You discover a planet, and upload it. Simultaneously, someone playing online happens across the same planet. They discover and upload it. When the offline player gets Internet, and the planet that they discovered goes online, what happens? It will conflict with the online database.

+spook sify I have to play offline because I don't have wifi yet, and I have the option to upload planets and get units for it, it just doesn't upload to the online database. It just stays on my local ps4. But when I do get wifi, and my discoveries go online, what happens if someone discovered the same planet?

game records the date of discovery so i think it first come first served, if u are the forst to discover it no mater the online time it would be ur name overwriting his..just my theory

now that the game is out, they really changed it, the HUD looks completely different

I like the game so far. I have the pc version and haven't had any problems with it. I don't count a few minor framerate drops as a problem. Personally, I would call the game as it is a Beta version and not a full game. But the developers said, they are still working on the game. So it isn't fully finished yet and it will get better. The thing many peoples complain about seems to be, that the game doesn't really have a big story. Well guess what, the developers never said anything about a big story, or quests and the likes, so if you expected a game like Mass Effect with a bigger univers, you bought the wrong game, pal...

The Hazelnoot As I said, I don't have any problems with the game. It never crashed, I don't think it's shallow and it was obvious that it would be grindy ever since it was announced. Every game with that kind of algorythm and mission (without quest or story) is bound to be grindy. Did you really expect something else?

Caringan Coystopitum Not really, i haven't been following this game's development that closely. I was still dissapointed in how simple the mechanics seemed and how it reminded me of how it went down with Spore. Sure, Spore is a pretty decently sized game, but it isn't that deep in gameplay. In No Man's Sky, you're more sightseeing than exploring aswell, since the aliens inhabit every single system. Spore had planets that had barely anything on them, no outposts, no strange monoliths, no nothing, simmply a barren planet. And so far, i've not seen that in No Man's Sky, which is something i'd like to see.

on planets there are derelict bases that are torn apart and abandoned with a weird rotting mold fungus or growth inside and the occasional jump scare tentacle plant I wanna know what it is.

No mans sky will have slot of Easter eggs.

This game looks both really good and yet it falls short in some areas as well too, not really digging the way it looks overall. The textures on some of the aliens and creatures really rubs me the wrong way, and their animations aren't the best either. Seems more like an indie alpha game you'd find on steam rather than finished and on a console as well.

I would say you pretty much described it perfectly. Although I would say Star Wars meets Fallout meet Minecraft. The aspects of Minecraft are the extremely large space for traversal and the resource gathering. I own this game and have played it every day since it came out on PC.

NO NO NO There is no Fallout in this. There is no story, no deep character narratives, no lively cities with tonnes of sub plots and side quests. No real RPG system, just a few things you can upgrade. This is a procedurally generated mining and exploring game, you mine resources to upgrade your limited gear to visit distant planets to mine more resources to visit even more distant planets to mine resources. No building like mincraft and very limited enemies in the game. Anyone who tells you any differently is straight up lying.

Adding? Just like the developers constantly told everybody this game would have multiplayer until the night before launch, putting stickers over the "Online" tag on the back of the boxes. Pretty much every open world game that exists has you exploring abandoned areas. That's like saying it's the same as Fifa because you see grass.

The multiplayer is really multiplayer it's you will be able to see people but if you see a ship flying around in space that could be a person and you wouldn't even know there is no name tag no nothing that shows up on your head
