I'm 54 years old I went to see "A New Hope" in 1977 at the age of 9.5 at the cinema with my father one sunday afternoon almost 45 years ago. Talk about you learn something new everyday I think I knew of probably 3 of the 101 facts on your splendid video pa!.

I saw it with my father and his father. We re-watched it so many times together over the years. It's a great memory to have.
The whole story of A New Hope is beautiful
The most interesting bit to me was that the Death Star's aiming at Yavin was not added until post-production. Imagine that not being in the movie, the final fight wouldn't be nearly as iconic.

yep. Star Wars was saved in the editing room

@@hefoughtabear118 Yep. There's even a really good documentary on KZread called something like, "Star Wars: Saved by the Edit." It mentions this exact edit plus many others that DEFINITELY made the movie much better.
So amazing that even all these years later, there’s more to learn about the film.
That bit about the holo-chess characters blows my mind. What attention to detail! I love knowing the people creating Star Wars love it as much as the fans do; it's not "just a job" to them.
I’m legit shocked that I didn’t know about 80% of these facts. What a pleasant surprise!
"...So he didn't have to follow any real-world physics or rules", yeah, tell that to the KZread "plot hole" nitpickers community. I love that Lucas always thought of it as fantasy more than science fiction.
During the meeting on the Death Star there was originally a line of dialogue filmed which identified Vader as a Sith, but this was ultimately cut out of the final edit. So the actual title wouldn't be spoken onscreen until the Prequels came out.

Unless u read some of the books before the prequels which did include the sith name.

Ah, I see. I had wondered where certain EU projects had gotten that word before it was actually mentioned in Ep. 1. Most notably, author Timothy Zahn had misinterpreted Vader's "Lord of the Sith" title and wanted to use the Sith for what became the Noghri species until he was obviously shot down.
I love how if something gets cut in Star Wars, it usually ends up being used somewhere else
I'm amazed that there is still new information coming out about the original Star Wars movie after all these years.
Always interpreted Luke's reaction to Owen and Beru as anger. He didn't learn to controll his anger until after Empire after all.
that last fact about the release date is quite interesting. very smart thinking by George ( 19:11 )
I saw an interview with Mark Hamill where he talks about the change from Starkiller to Skywalker. He said they brought him in for the reshoot and his first thought was that instead of reshooting it he should ADR it and use the camera angle from the back. But, they wanted that line where the camera is on his face. Great list!
I'll never not be able to watch Tarkin without picturing him in slippers now. 😆
I love that chewie was inspired by George's malamute riding in his car with him.
I quite enjoyed this one. And yes....learnt a lot from it too. Really well done mate.
7:18 I assume that's where the idea of the cave came from in the Kenobi trailer.
@haydo-9916

In Kenobi, we’re gonna see him live in a cave close to The Lars Homestead and some years later he would live in a hut on top of the hill.
I graduated from High School when Star Wars(1977) came out. George was right. It was the big talk at our graduation events.
"The Flying Hamburger" lol
I highly recommend "The Hero's Journey" KZread miniseries by SFDebris if you wanna really get into the nitty gritty of George Lucas's efforts to get A New Hope made. It takes as much of the verified sources out there and attempts to put it in a cohesive documentary tale.
Not only my favorite Star Wars Movie but My Favorite Movie of Al Time
Great video! Didn’t know a lot of these. ANH was the first movie I went to see in theaters. I was 4 or 5 years old. After they all got out of the trash compactor, the film reel broke! We all started walking out and my family were a few feet from the exit before they told us it was fixed. We returned to finish the movie
I prefer not having Jabba appear until Jedi. Not only because, as mentioned in the video, his appearance is redundant because his conversation with Han is almost word-for-word the same one Han just had with Greedo, but also, because it builds him up as this mysterious and powerful figure for when we finally do see him.
George Lucas had a lot of big plans for Star wars in the future it's too bad we didn't see all these cool star wars facts in star wars
You’ve done such a great job once again! Thank you for consistently sharing your passion with us! This channel has only deepened my love for Star Wars with each and every video.
I didn’t know that Porkins was “Top Men” in Raiders of the Lost Ark lol
Honestly, I liked the idea of Leia speaking in a British accent in more formal, serious situations while maintaining her American one otherwise. That's always how I rationalized it.
I love, that Episode IV is your favourite Star Wars film. Mine is Episode V.
Episode 4 was added after the re release of The Empire Strikes Back in 1981. Empire came out in 1980.
My fav line is Wedge telling Porkins to EJECT ! Uh, none of the pilots had any spacesuits on. What would Porkins do? Hold his breath, drop down & run to a portal, knock & ask, " Can Darth come out & fight?" before he froze to death?
Cool that the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will premiere on the same date as the original movie (May 25th). Seems unlikely enough to me to maybe even be intentional.
Nice that obi wan’s cave got brought back in kenobi
7:24 - It's the legendary Tatooine Bee!
These facts were awesome hoping we can get one for each movie!
Loved this!
16:00 Also fact about Dennis Lawson: he’s Ewan McGregor’s uncle
Great Video!
damn it, now I want to live in the Japanese Obi-Wan timeline
A New Hope is the best movie ever released in 1977 because it perfectly introduced Star Wars to the whole world
Definitely some new nuggets there for me, thanks!
well done! I learned some new tidbits here and there! thx!!!
Excellent video buddy

Its amazing how a movie with a bloody severed arm, genocide, and 2 burnt human carcasses would have been rated G back in '77 but nowadays one wrong word can bump a Disney film all the way up to a PG on the spot.
@Compucles
2 жыл бұрын
The ratings were rightly shifted when the PG-13 rating was introduced in the 80's. However, you are correct that the ratings have shifted even more in more recent years. Hardly anything manages to get a G rating these days, and I still don't get why all of the Disney Star Wars movies deserve a PG-13 rating compared to Eps. I & II getting PG ratings. Maybe "Rise of Skywalker" and/or "Solo" should still be PG-13, but the rest?
I know the tantive 4's name is pronounced tantivee, but the original tantive just sounds so much better
That was cool as mate I grew up with the original trilogy 👍, please do the others
#8. Thank you.
Woah sick
I'm still sad that David Prowse never truly find out the real reason the voice of Darth Vader was changed until much later!
6:23 Sounds similar to the accident that gave him that mark near the nose
Thanks a big Star Wars nerd like me did learn some things here
4:03 I've heard this one before but I've also heard it wasn't actually true because the sandcrawler was a miniature?
@chimaerayt3077
2 жыл бұрын
A couple models were made. The life-sized one only featured the bottom half of the sandcrawler, thus the jawas could be seen next to the giant mat in the scene where they sell the droids at Lars' Homestead. The miniature was used in scenes where the sandcrawler had to be shown thoroughly.
1:25 ok, so that may be but tho not in the radio broadcast but in MANY Legends audio dramas and audiobooks they pronounce Coruscant as CHOIRS-CANT so...
Well Done Alex! We'll Done!
TAN-TIV FOUR
2187 was also Finns storm trooper designation, FN-2187

At the end of Ep 3 Yoda says to Kenobi that Anakin was “…consumed by Darth Vader”, but where did Yoda hear the name Darth Vader to know to call him that? Did I miss Yoda learning it or is this a continuity error of sorts?

It’s so mind boggling that the Death Star animation cost that much. Anyone could make a semi realistic one in Blender these days for free
@Compucles
2 жыл бұрын
The Death Star animation used in "Return of the Jedi" was also a legitimate computer animation for the time. That shows just how much the technology had advanced in just 6 years!
According to Star Wars battlefront 2 it’s tantive 4 and the e is sileny
Actually, Im pretty sure the sandcrowler thing was with libya and not algeria
Why did the stormtroopers have dubacks (sp) on a spaceship? I've always thought this was weird when they could use tie fighters to cover more ground. And to have a whole section on a ship dedicated to housing animals seems odd. Or did they go to Mos Eisley and bring them back to the escape pod?
@myriadmediamusings

Don't quote me on this but I believe it's because standard TIEs at the time could not work in atmosphere. This is why in R1 there were the TIE Strikers.
@darthknuxward3220

@@myriadmediamusings they could fly in atmosphere, we see as such in Rebels. It was more that for something as small and specific as two droids, they needed eyes “closer to the ground”
Is there any truth to the rumor that the shot of the dismembered arm was specifically added to get that PG rating?
I didn't know Iden was written into this movie
First? Posted 17 seconds ago, I haven't ever been this early. O.O
I still don't get number 29 with R5. Why not simply use piano wires on the one that exploded ? Why did it need a new one ?
I will always call it the Blockade Runner.
George Lucas’ dog’s name was Indiana
Ok if you're going to say "Tanta vee 4" then you also have to pronounce Hoth as "hoe-TH" and not "Haw-TH" as per how George Lucas pronounces Hoth
Lmao imagine correcting Alex about Star Wars pronunciation
Yes! Finally, the proper pronounciation of Tantive IV!
Isnt the part about the algerian stuff fake
Fixer and cami, were played by the original actors, not look alikes
There is a mistake though, mestizos also speak a little bit of quechua.
Imaging being paid 75,000 for 2 and a half hours....
