One thing about Apocalypse you didn't comment on the first time around that you've mentioned elsewhere before is that for a giant boss he's rather well programmed, the game can even handle an Apocalypse mirror with relatively little freaking the fuck out.

I didn't learn manual hacking before October of 2015, so my comments on programming only really begin after that point in time. It is true though; Capcom's games were usually extremely well-programmed, and more than capable of handling shit like this which was never supposed to happen. That said, I think that's mainly because this version is being emulated. I've hacked Apocalypse on the Saturn port of this game before, and while he played just fine in versus mode, trying to use him in arcade mode would always crash the game, funnily enough.

Makes sense. All in all i'd say Apocalypse is the most competently programmed giant boss i've seen so far though from what you've described Ragnarok in Arcana Heart 3 is nothing short of fucking genius in how it actually functions.

You can play as him in the ps1 version by pressing select 6 or 5 times on akuma

Complacency on the part of Hollywood execs, I would imagine. First Class and Days of Future Past had both been smash hits, so they probably assumed after that point that they could no wrong, even if that meant screwing up the design of the most important villain in the X-Men franchise. But boy were they mistaken, if the reception to the film is anything to go by. The same thing happened with Raimi's Spiderman trilogy, come to think of it.

However when you play as him you can use the drill to drain a fuck load of the enemy s life bar because you can make the attack last longer

Honestly apocalypse as a boss is pretty easy

You're lucky, when I was playing as apocalypse and fighting mech gouki, the fight started and he hit me before I got all the way up. so I had to wait for the time over.

It's always annoyed me that they created a regular-sized sprite for him for this game, but didn't even do anything with it. I wish they would have made him a two-form boss, with the first form being unlockable in some way.

@@AdmiralMcFish Maybe Apocalypse was supposed to be a two phase boss but he had a first form that was scrapped for time in X-Men Vs Street Fighter, and designing a version of Shin Akuma took less work than a human sized Apocalypse. That is just speculation on my part. I am also considering that given how easy Apocalypse was in his last appearance, Capcom decided it would be too much work to make him a real challenge and decided to create Cyber Akuma instead. Either way I agree it's a waste given all the things you could still do with a human sized version of him.

It was Canon after all. Apocalypse merged with Cyclops during The Twelve and Ages of Apocalypse run before Grant Morrison’s New X-Men.
