These are the type of instructional videos I've been looking for. I bought a small laser setup just to get familiar with programming and using a laser engraver/cutter. I don't plan on making anything other than practice pieces with it. I'll be ordering a 100W Co2 in two months that I plan on using to add income to my already existing business. I look forward to watching your other videos.

Love the knowledge you are offering Roger, I'm in the process of purchasing a laser to compliment my wife's cake business here in Melbourne along with managing my steel fabrication company (I'm going to be a busy boy). Along with running CAD at the shop and also looking at CNC PLASMA I reckon the laser will be an easy learning curve. Appreciate the channel mate.

CNC is actually pretty easy stuff once you get some of the basics out of the way assuming you aren't doing multiple processes on multiple machines where you can easily paint yourself into a corner and no longer be able to hold your work. I don't mean to take anything away from him but rather intend to imply that everyone should give it a shot. The trade needs people who can think on their feet and pay attention badly and many libraries (around me, at least) now have 3d printers available for public use.

Really interesting video, i have a friend who does this and all sorts of other things with CNC's as a personal business but any one will tell you its easy to make money as its time + materials but up-keep and maintenance will cost you more than you expect...but if you consider time it took to learn his art + machines its a long time and big dollars

I was well into the video, before I realized you were to cut recycled forest carbohydrates. I was all amped up for steel ! I really like the manner in which you educate. Many tend to fast talk, or leave out steps, expecting everyone already knows each step well. My primary interest is in an engraving solution for on-the-fly work. So far, fiber laser approach seems to be more of a job-shop type of thing, so device can warm up. Cost per use would need to rival a rotary engraver, and in order to not lose sharp results, a motion table to bring the work to the laser. There are a couple self-contained products of the sort from Red-T, but they are still in the embryonic stage. I fear this stuff will shrink in form factor and become what I need post-retirement! For now, I am stuck at office, doing paperwork..... and I found your video as the result of viewing another laser that was recommended I check out. A nice way to kill some time during this shutdown, even though I am considered "essential".

I know the approxamate cost of software but what is the initial cost of an Industrial grade 100 watt laser as well as the cost of a replacement for the laser tube? Question: One thing I dont seem to understand is what if you want to go bigger than the 600x300 space of the laser. How do you cut up the objects? Do I need to design it that way in the design software or is there some support in the laser engraver driver.

Dump about $10-20k into equipment, a year of training trial and error. THEN either hit the lottery or do the equivalent in chances to compete against the limitless other people trying to find the actual work to fill $21k a week. We have a machine shop that produces contract parts for military and medical, about $750k in big-boy machinery and do not make $21k a week - btw. But then, this is a youTube video on the internet, so it must be true.

Can a lazar cut tempered glass? Can you make it hand held for portability and accessibility?

No it can't. You you can cut (thin) acrylic quite well depending on the lasers power.

Over 20 years of experience with 2KW/4KW Lasers I highly doubt people are paying 3k$ a day for something we would do for 300-400$ for each at the cheapest prices around. Great video nonetheless. Confused though as to why your nozzle is so far off the material surface and you're still having reflections (Power is too high, standoff is too high and your feedrate is too slow). Interesting video either way, love the lasers!

He states in the video that a shop similar to his would rate that as a 2 hour job and charge $150 per hour plus materials, so you're in the same ballpark. The $3000 figure is working all day long with no breaks.
