10000 people spend 285 years in bunker thinking Earth is poisoned til one person goes up to check
Фильм және анимация
In the not-too-distant future, the survivors of 10,000 people live in a huge bunker 144 stories deep. People believe that the world is dead, the air outside is poisoned, and it is deadly to go to the surface. They get all their information from huge screens broadcasting images from outside cameras. Day after day, looking at the lifeless gray landscape, the inhabitants uncomplainingly obey the established rules, the most important of which is never to leave the bunker.

if you wanna be spoilered, continue to read. if not, close this comment now and dont go beyond the line: _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In the books the whole reason for the silos is to restart humanity. A billioner set out nanobots that kill people, and others follow to counter, but he and hundreds of (unknowingly) chosen ones are already in the silos. He has his own silo with the controlcrew, all the other silos are full of people which dont know why they are there. Over the next hundred years the IT guys of each silo wipe out every information (they are into the scheme) while the rich guys freeze themselfs every few years to keep track over time. So the distant offspring of the original "kidnapped" people has no clue whats going on, they just know outside is deadly. The nanobots are still circeling the area and killing everybody who leaves the silo unprotected, and the IT makes sure the suits for the banished are faulty. This is all noticed when a sheriff is banished and got his own suite due to his connection, a working one. She lives, makes it to another silo that is broken down with a few survivors, and together they sneak up on mr. big, taking over his role and get the people out of the silo. So its nanobots and faulty protection, the air is totally ok in this world. But i dont know how near it is to the books.

@@aquariuslymade627 They are not safe and the second question remains a mystery. What about, showing the people a flourishing landscape, makes them harder to accept it is absolutely deadly outside. Never forget, this is the future and live video photoshopping is a thing of the late 90'. We don't have the technology to let people survive even a year, let alone run such bunker for generations. They are way more advanced than we are. Manipulating a grainy video feet should be a easy task for them.

@@aquariuslymade627 Next Book spoiler incoming: _____________________________________ The AIR is safe, what kills the people are the NANOBOTS, so its definitly not safe to go out, but not because of poison in the air. And in the books the IT-Guys use VR-Glasses in the suits, so the banished people run towards the green hills and not back to the silo entrance. So the banished remain honorful, they go face front into the wasteland (as it seems to the people inside) and they dont need guards to push the banished into the nanobot wasteland. They see green gras via the VRmonitor in the helmet of the faulty protective suite (they dont know its VR), they think everything is green and alright and they run towards it full of hope and then die by the Nanobots.
i remember scifi novel from 80`s, people were living in bunker like this after some kind of apocalypse, but it had more levels (no one truly knows how deep it is...) and the society was divided - close to the surface lived "superior" people (rich minority) and on deep levels lived peasants (who were living in some hive society like bees for example)...story was about one peasant who escaped the hive....

This Time of Darkness? It was a book about two children who lived in basically a bunker like this, where the peasantry lived on the lower levels, the wealthy lived on the upper levels, and everything was governed by "The Authorities." The myth was spread that the City was all there was, but these two kids decide to disobey and start climbing. They eventually escape and discover that everyone is being lied to. The wealthy people thought the lower levels were all factories that manufactured their items, and the lower levels thought the upper levels were all the same and that there was no difference.

@@leahv5892 It's possible that the canned food was actually being produced somewhere off in 'the dark tunnels', and just like everything else there, things were breaking down. Unfortunately, the hydrofarming and canning processes eventually broke down completely, was unrepairable, and became a forgotten technology and they closed off that entire section to consolidate and bring the population into one spot. Another movie - "A boy and his dog", with a very, very young Don Johnson, played along with this same theme, except in their underground 'vault' they had trees and grass and parks, etc. So theoretically, the canned food consumed in the movie could have only been a couple decades old... 8--)

I got a theory that the suits they wear before they leave the silo poisons them.
@adamb89
Жыл бұрын
Nope, it's the outside that does it. The suits are tampered with. If the series continues, at some point someone with a functional non-tampered suit goes outside and realizes the truth. The exile suits are sabotaged, and fitted with augmented reality glasses to trick the wearer into thinking they're seeing a lush verdant world, instead of the wasteland it is. Imagine what was going through Holston's head in his final few moments. He goes outside, sees everything is lush and green, he cleans the lens and walks off into the lush green landscape. He takes off his helmet....and sees the wasteland for what it is. He's lost everything. His wife, his life, and now he realizes that they were right all along--the world is toxic. And then he dies.
