1000 Years of Song: The Apache

The Apache Sunrise Dance is an ancient coming of age ceremony for a young woman. Documentary written and produced by (my father) Jay Cravath and Rick Ench. 1996. The filmmakers were invited by the family of the daughter to join and document the ceremony.

I’m half Mescalero my mother was born near the Rio Grande and she is From Mescalero , my Father is Irish I struggled many years off the sacred path and today I cannot count all the tears that have flooded my days of despair asking Yusin our creator for one more day sober and clean , and these songs are very therapeutic for my spirit mind and body

I am Nat'aahendé Band of Mescalero Apache and Avripia Apache, House of Agregaard of Dains, House of Christovic of Croatian, Clan Macpherson, Clan Macleod and, Clan Macleod of Scotish, Marseille Tribe of Gauls. Many struggles myself. It's 2 days after the final day of the annual Sunrise Ceremony at Mescalero, I pray with our people from Utah, went to Sweat Lodge last night and I am grateful to Ussen and the Gah'é for their guidance and healing. I work to help the Children of Ninaayéñskąn'n remember who they are, I carry the memory of the Old Way of my Mother's People who came from Europe. Each us has a purpose, one is stronger when one finds that path. "It ok for a man to think about what he'd like to do until it's time for him to do what he's meant to do. This was good to see and to share too others of what I had experienced "The Sun Rise Dance" back in 2006. I was adopted out when I was a baby by a White family, my adopted mother shared story's about my biological family. So when I grew up, I took my husband with me ( who is white) and helped me find my family in 2004. I have went back to see them every year since then. My biological family lives in Cibecue,Ar. My Sister is Seriah Chissay and my brother is Belfew Chissay, who lives in Whiteriver, Ar.

Apache not only were very spiritual like other tribes but they had a warrior spirit about them, there were the special forces of old times and knew the land and could ambush their enemies swiftly and quietly. Very interesting video, and may they be blessed and share their wisdom with all humans.

Once you film a ceremony you take the spirit out of it. That's what I've been taught. Once that happens it becomes and show and not a prayer. Too many people now a days need many many people to witness them say prayers or do ceremonies but in reality your prayer and ceremony is only between you and Creator. The old way of teachings is disappearing but there still is people out there who practise those old teachings.

No one wants to keep these alive but I don’t understand why? It is the truest of ways we have left. I am Hopeful for Apache ❤️ I am from both sides of my family, my mother and father Apache.

@@officialVozie100 oh man I was under the impression this was dying out ! I praise the ancestors before me, I talk and pray to them for guidance. I have a whole alter for them. I do my best at learning as much as I can through being self taught.

I found myself crying..mostly of how proud you must be ..your believes are so powerful and full with honesty and love of family , tribe , and creation itself. With all my heart to you and yours ..

Здравствуйте, спасибо. Замечательно, есть ещё люди, отдают честь душе своих прародителей сохраняя песни и танцы ушедших 1000 лет назад. Привет из середины степей и болот России

The eternal struggle between good and evil ,this is the reality of history, the reality of those people ,who lived close to nature, who took only what they needed who only made what they could fix themselves, they were not perfect but they never broke the heart ♥ of the earth,

I love to fish in the White mountains especially Holly lake and reservation lake and the drive from White River y55 is absolutely beautiful. I cherish this land and we'll always love and respect it until I am no longer. I wish I could say the same for other people that go there and trash it makes me furious. Much love to the White mountains Apache tribe
