1000 yard MOA Rifle Bedding - Savage Ultralite + Proof Research Carbon + Choate Tactical Stock
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
My 1st experience bedding a rifle with insights & tips to help others less experienced in the process. My goal is to build a 1000 yard sub-MOA gun. The basis of this build uses a Savage Arms Ultralite 6.5 Creedmoor with Proof Research Carbon barrel attached to a Choate Tactical Stock. So far, so good. I will post a follow-up video with the results.

Such a sweet video! Been searching for months trying to find info on putting an aftermarket stock in this gun! Will be trying this soon! Thanks for the cool vid!!
Good vid, and i know you didnt like the original stock (neither do I), but the gun is far better than an moa gun out of the box. With handloads im easily under 0.5 moa all day. Although i like your setup and may steal it!!
Dev, this was very interesting; I enjoyed watching your process. I subscribed to your channel. If you post more firearms videos, I will gladly watch them. Thank you.
Nice 👍
I’d wonder what savage has to say?
Squeeze out locations , that's technical gun smithing there 😁
your first mistake is bedding the stock! I have that same stock and I just dropped t my action and it shoots one moa at 850 yds.
that big gap on the side is for the top bolt release on older models like the 111. cool video. i had the same gun and did not like the savage stock. really cool build
Did the original Savage stock have an aluminum bedding block in it?

My doesn't. I believe they did them block less to keep them lighter. I bought mine thinking it had a aluminum bedding.
How is the action and aftermarket support?
FYI, my experience goes back 40+ years with “Choate Stocks”. I think you were better off with the factory “Accufit Stock from Savage”. I have five savages with this stock, very happy with them. I’ve had savage 110 rifles for over 22 years, very satisfied. Again, I don’t like “Choate Stocks”. Very poorly made🙁
You should not have to bed a stock with aluminum beds. I have some of my hs precision stock that were bedded and some that were not. They both shoot the same Moa. Also, this is funny I was just thinking about purchasing one and putting an aftermarket stock on it.

I have an hs precision that I took off a model 12 because it was bedded wrong and the gun wouldn't cycle smoothly. I just picked up an ultralite. I wonder if I can rebed it to fit this gun. The stock that comes with it isn't impressive at all.
Let me help u out , filling , redrilling yada yada yada , go get u some reloading equipment like a oacl gauge , some Berger bullets , Lapua brass , calipers , good powder ect , you will stand a much better chance of getting it to shoot better than all that stuff your doing which is just ruining your gun 😂😂😂😂
Just bought a brand new Savage precision rifle. The Action is so poorly built that it took 2 young, former marines mortaring it off the floor to get the spent casing out. Less than 30 rounds.
