$1000 to make this Budget 4WD TWICE as good off-road! Can it outdrive a MASSIVELY modified HiLux?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this episode Jocko upgrades the transfer gears, widens the wheel track of the Toyota LN106 HiLux - two mods that'll make it go way better off-road!
But then he challenges Matt to a drive off in his Solid Axle swap Toyota HiLux on 35in tyres! How does he go? Watch to find out!
Jocko's on a mission to turn the Pony lux into a budget build 4WD capable of taking on the toughest 4WD tracks in Australia! Using some of the best and cheapest 4WD mods money can buy, the Pony will be getting new offroad upgrades in every episode. We'll show you the REAL difference each mod makes offroad, helping you decide on the best mods for your 4WD.
When the build is finished Jocko's going to enter the Pony in a 4WD competition to go up against purpose built competition and winch trucks on some INSANE tracks!

Shauno's Brand new, straight off the showroom floor 200 series.... chopped and extended! Jocko's 25 year old bashed and bruised "pony" Hi-Lux..... Totally different builds, costs and mods, but both totally engrossing and entertaining! After you've finished both trucks and used them for a while, I'd love to hear what you love about each, and what you'd do differently! Thanks guys from Scotland. 👍🇬🇧👍🇦🇺

The Pony is coming out really good. A turbo would make it better when mudding and sand driving. Bar work is essential, especially a rockslider and a high mounted rear bumper (cut the lower section of the bed) ... but something that i would definitely do is a RUF conversion with high steer, so you get rid of the stock steering system that´s not very reliable. Kind regards form Brazil.

A dimable LED light strip under the bonnet is a great cheap mod. I doubt you'll have any issues with the mighty 2.8 but it's so handy to have good light under the bonnet if you're stuck somewhere after dark. Cheap mod... delete the entire hitch receiver tube and weld on some recovery points/D Rings or whatever to the hitch cross bar. Maybe trim the rear bumper mounts to tuck the rear bumper in a little too. Great video!

A nice budget helper here in the states for the braided brake line is boat trailer brake lines. They come all kinds of lengths and are very affordable. You will have to re-flare you hard lines, but for $15 for 2 foot lines are worth it. Done it on a few budget projects and have lasted years of trail abuse. And they’re sold almost everywhere!

It had 287,000 miles on it an still ran great. Had a small lift with 31" tires with rims like yours but mine was white instead of being black.

I had to remove the entire hitch from my truck and enlist a 20ton shop press to get the ball hitch pressed out. 4ton power pack had no effect. Just saw yours is hollow, mine is solid forging. Probably different removal process anyway here.
