Jocko's Pony lux, the little LN106 that could - hits the BIG LEAGUES! Jock & Matt Kinselas are wheeling this budget build in a proper, full on competition at Springs 4WD park. Jocko's gotta play by the rules for once and learns how the comp truck world works, replaces ANOTHER CV in a field and has a heck of a lot of fun in-between.

Agreed... Except that your looking at 15-20K plus to pick up and set up a rig like that now. Ln106 oil burner (diesel) is my favourite hilux, owned a couple in my younger days... My first one cost me 5K with 75Thou on the clock, from just down the road from where I was ... Now your looking at a reasonable stock one for around 10k starting price with hundreds of thou on the dial!. I'm still getting one tho, just, maybe a bit later than I'd like!. I have owned and driven solid and independent hilux dual and single cabs, and my favourite is still the old white dual cab Ln106 (like this one) except the previous owner threw on a turbo kit which was great, till I had to fix that... But with a replacement from MTQ, back in the day, and it served me well for about 5 years and I'm sure a other couple hundred thou! Their "Achilles Heel" is maintenance!... Keep up on replacing said thing a bit before it comes up in the book, or at the first sign of failure, and you can see 400 plus Km's on stock guts!... It's all about keeping it happy and healthy!. *Note. I never did crazy comp truck things, but I did make it do some pretty tuff tracks (so medium for this lot) and I didn't break as many CV's as old Jocko here!.

Go Jocko. Go Pony !!! Pipped at the post by only fifteen points. The Pony is a true thoroughbred. Also, great to see the unsung heroes of 4WD 24-7, the camera crew, make it past editing and onto the screen. Saved the day with the pitstop workout.

This build has inspired me to do the same. I have always wanted a 2nd or 3rd gen 4Runner and since seeing this build over the last few weeks it has me ready to start. I cleared a 10k budget with the wife. Got the money in the bank and am on the prowl for just the right one. I am taking my time to find a good solid foundation and plan to build more for general overlanding and not so much rock climbing. You guys at 4WD 24-7 have helped keep me sane through 2020 and now its time to see if I learned anything. Keep up the great work and thanks for doing this budget build and giving me the confidence go for it so soon. When I get my first trip on the way I'll make sure me and my brother crack open the first beer to all of you. A tip of the hat to you from Texas.

More of this would be great! It's cool to see how these comps work. I've never been to one but have watched a few on YT. But to have the commentary and pro camera work is awesome. Would love to see more with behind the scenes and interviews with officials and some by standers etc. Cover mostly less modified classes that is more doable or relatable for the bulk of us. Nice easy going and fun vids to watch. 10 outa 10!

I run early Tritons in 4x4 comps in WA. Very stock. 33x10.5x15 Silverstone Extremes, lokka front diff, shimmed LSD rear, bash plates, extended shackles and home made Tube Winch bar. Its a spare road car during the day. It surprises many. Ive now got a dual cab v6 I ran in Feb. The tracks beat it in Feb. Broken and dented. The cars initial cost was 300 bucks. It owes me about 2k total. Its bags of fun!
