I saw your response on that FB post. I was hoping you would get it. I honestly prefer the boulder opals with the iron stone swirls through it. The patterns in the iron stone is crazy awesome. Some of the patterns cut and polished alone would make really nice pendants. I hope you some videos working on the rubs and the beginners parcels. You got a real steal on this purchase. I'd love to see what you do with them. I agree Nick is great both with the boulder opal and his art.

Yeah I am very partial to the ironstone pieces with the lightning cracks through them. Has to be one of my fave styles of opal.

Opal is great, koroit is spiritual... The first piece that I ever cut was a hunk of Koroit. Finding those first green flames was like I had discovered a new world. Thank you for sharing your opal experiences with the world.

Hi Roy. What a gobsmacking parcel. Congratulations! (Wish they were mine. I'd flat out lie and say I'd done 'em!). LOL. I think others have been disappointed with some parcels purchased. Thank goodness for reputable opal dealers. Love the junk bits. I just have a thing for boulder opal, I guess.........😂

Amazing find. Gem shows in Northern California would sell pieces individually, for a combined price of $4-5,000 US. Years ago, I would pick up 50 pound bags of ironstone opal and give pieces away as paperweights, worry stones, etc. Amazed to see how much this stuff can go for now.

Worry stones are those ones that you rub with your thumb aren't they? I always forget I want to make a long term video trying to polish an opal with my thumb. Thanks for the reminder I might start it today.

Nice video, Roy. I have not done much boulder opal, probably because I have not had a lot and every time I cut it, I have to clean the machine and that's a big job. I do like it, though. Koroit is my favorite, but I have a nice pipe that I got in Tucson. It's crazy beautiful. What I like about your parcel is that there are stones with seams that go either all of the way through or almost all of the way. Thanks for showing us this! dp

Cutting Boulder opal is certainly a lifestyle and involves a fair bit of cleaning when it comes to wheels. Not quite so bad with flat laps and carving bit still leaves a fair staining. I just picked up an interesting parcel from the USA in the PO Box... time to get the camera rolling.
