1000 mile review of the Cyrusher Ranger fat tire ebike!

So, after a snowy, rainy, muddy first 6 months I finally racked up 1000 miles on the Cyrusher Ranger! Here are some of my observations and suggested modifications for the Ranger.

    Awesome, I think you'll really like the power of the Ranger! I have several bikes but this is by far my favorite to ride. If you do the forks and drop the front chain ring to a 46t it is a very competent off road bike. Ride safe and let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!

    Fantastic review!!! I ordered one as well. I have a question, I just bought the Ranger, it arrived yesterday and I took it for a ride. I really like it minus one issue. Perhaps it's my own ignorance but when I twist the throttle while pedaling, the motor quits providing power. Is that Normal, do you experience that? My other ebike does NOT behave that way. it gives me a boost to get up a hill or quick boost of speed for whatever reason, even just to get started from a standstill...

    Hello Mark, happy that the review helped you! I have several ebikes but the Ranger is still my favorite. I hope you got in on the black friday deal, you probably won't ever find a new one cheaper than they are right now. Sorry to say that the power cutting out as you describe is not normal. You should contact customer service and see if they have a solution. You may want to open up the bottom cover on the right side of the bike to expose the controller. Look that over and make sure there isn't a connector unplugged anywhere. Beyond that I'm not able to help you. Hope it turns out to be a quick easy fix, if you don't mind please come here and post what the fix is so others will know if it happens again. Cheers, Tom

    Man I wish they offered this bike with 27.5 or 29 wheels and narrower tires. I like everything about this bike except for the fat tires. I'm a firm believer in only using fat tires for sand and snow. the gravel roads and trails I ride every day just don't need tires this big.

    I love the fat tires for rocks / mud / sand and all the off road riding I do. I also do much less trail damage with the big tires compared to the deep ruts left by the standard mtn bikes! Cheers

    Great review Tom. Your channel convinced me to get a Ranger and like you I think it's a great bike. I learn a lot from your upgrade and maintenance videos. Are you on the Facebook group? I'm in the UK and am always jealous of the lovely area you have to ride in, so many trails to choose from. Thanks for what you do.

    Thank you Murray, I'm glad my videos have provided you with some useful information! I'm very happy that you like your Ranger as much as I like mine. I'm not on Facebook at the moment. I went off social media awhile back in an attempt to save my sanity, but I should get back on just to join the Cyrusher owners group! Colorado is an amazing State. It has just about every terrain you can imagine within an hours drive (or three hour ride) of where I live. That said, my wife and I visited the UK a few years ago and were taken back by its beauty! So I know you're not lacking for great places to ride! I've been talking with several Ranger owners in the UK over the past few months and keep suggesting that some rider groups should be formed! Cheers

  • @lifebehindbarz60

    Hello, yes these wide rims for the fat tire bikes all have a visible external joint. They are welded internally but the external joint is not. Some manufacturers of rims put a sticker over this joint and some just leave it visible. So, nothing broken, just the way they are manufactured. Cheers

    Hope this message finds you Tom and finds you well, enjoying your videos On the Ranger especially the 200 and 1,000 mile service. I’ve had my Ranger for less Then 2 weeks ( loving it ) 70 miles on the clock, but what I’m finding is the top chain is Hitting the the top of the bottom wish bone swing arm, I find it hard to believe this is right? It sounds like a rattle! Very annoying, may I ask did you have this problem? And what is the answer …. Shortening the chain or just adjusting? Thanks Tom John from London! PS Keep up the great videos

  • @lifebehindbarz60

    @lifebehindbarz60

    Hello John, you definitely have an issue with the chain tension if that is happening. The chain on my bike has literally never come in contact with the chain stay. I'm assuming this is happening when you are in 9th gear (smallest rear sprocket)? That is when the chain is closest to the chain chain stay. Also, count the teeth on the front chainring and make sure it is a 52. If you put a mark (I used an orange marker) on one of the side plates of your chain then turn your crank backwards and count the links you should have 64. Next make sure that you have what feels like good tension on the chain (provided by the rear derailleur). There is a hidden internal spring for the lower cage that may need oiling. There is also a screw at the rear of the derailleur that is by itself (not the two vertical ones) that has some bearing on the chain tension. This screw is called the "b" screw and there is a procedure for setting this right ( find a youtube video for setting up a shimano derailleur). In any case I'd figure out what is wrong before riding again, you don't want to get stranded! Let me know what you find! Cheers

    Hi gentlemen 😊 I have had the same problem with my ranger and the rear derailleur hitting the frame, after torturing my mind, I found out that my chain was too short! A lots of you seem to have 128 links but mine is only 114!! It puts really too much tension on the derailleur, and even on the lowest gear it is too tense and so too close from the frame. Check out the number of links you have! Maybe at some point they ran out of the good chains and delivered some models with a shorter one??? (I'm in France) Thanks again for all your great videos and upgrade suggestions! Definitely the best available online 😊 Cheers, Antoine

    What was the problem with the Springfork?

  • @lifebehindbarz60

    @lifebehindbarz60

    Жыл бұрын

    For me it was the limited travel (around 65mm) of the stock fork. The air fork has more adjustments, a smooth progressive feel, and has 160mm of travel. I had an early version of the Cyrusher fork which had a coating on the stanchions that wore off and began to stick. The latest Cyrusher forks have a much better surface finish so they shouldn't do that.
