Today I visited one of the oldest church in kerala where you can see the 3 most divine relics of jesus HOLY BLOOD , HOLY CROSS & THE PART OF A TOWEL that veronica has used to wipe the face of jesus during the journey of passion , these relics has been sent from vatican by Pope Leo . Name of this church is MAE SLEEVA SYRO MALABAR CHURCH .This church is widely known as Mapranam church . This church has been constructed in 928 AD .The offering of candles is the main ritual here and the annual ceremony is called Thirithelikkal (Candle Lighting). A candle made at this Church has been included in the Limca Book of Records as the largest candle in India. According to the book the candle has a weight of 1,079 kg and a height of 22 ft.
Adjacent to the church there is a candle making unit where on order they make candles of various sizes and shape which is widely lit and kept in the chapel as an offering .
