​​@@ELMolliezHe probably meant the GBA emulator on it and the DS one. Also you can just play 'em on PC on an emulator, you'll also have speed hack and save states.

I'm 26 and I've recently just been getting on a nostalgia trip with Pokemon. I'm playing Pokemon Scarlet right now and I started to wonder if people are still excited about the older Pokemon games that I grew up with - and if they're still putting time in it. So much respect brother I only ever played sapphire and emerald as a kid, as an adult I decided I wave experience early Pokemon games in chronological order, my plan is to play up to BW2 starting with FR as my first gen 1 experience. Now I’m not a kid anymore I want to try optimise my playthrough, so I’ve only just started dipping my toes into things like IVs, EVs etc, it’s pretty overwhelming, there’s so damn much information to learn, but your videos feel like such a good companion to watch as you’re playing from a very similar angle of just wanting to play the games to their faaarthest limit and create a save file which belongs in a damn museum (seriously though, amazing work with all those shinies!!) I’ve only just discovered your channel but I’m hoping you might have some more informational content on FRLG, I’ll watch through the playlist!

First time im seeing your vids, but im super into Pokemon amd ygo and ngl you def make me wanna give the pokedex challenge another go! Definately subbing to see your future content!

I love how easy it is to train too level 100 in firered and leafgreen. The high level trainers post game being in the 50s help alot.

@nostalgicnighthawk yeah the rebattle system in emerald sucks too so that doesn't help. Even rebattling wally takes forever. The league isn't that strong so it takes even longer. At least in ruby and sapphire the sky pillar has high level wild pokemon unlike emerald. And firered and leafgreen have the league going into the 70s in a rematch.

I love seeing the progress people make in a game that they've played for years, in one save. All of the items they accumulated, their stats etc. Clearly, you sunk a lot of time and effort into the game and I can respect that.

Its nice to see the journey over time! Next year it will be 10 years and that is crazy to think about. Its weird almost! Yea a lot of time in these games and you can tell with the amount of berries i have from the pick up ability XD

I just saw a video of a guy explaining EXACTLY what you need to complete the Dex in Emerald, and the cost for things was well over 1000dlls. So I applaud your beautiful and hard earned old-school no bullshit no hacks just good ol' thumbs sweat, game achievements. You're amazing man.

this is so awesome. i recently picked up my original firered cartridge again. it has about 300 hours on it and the save file is from when I was in elementary school 😵‍💫just finished filling the kanto dex and now im gearing up to complete the national dex and get the other star! this was an awesome video, cheers!

i finished my fire red with all pokemon caught about a year ago. took me 2-3 years to complete. After that i tranfsered all my pokemon to my pokemon pearl. And i got complete pokedex on that too. gen 3 and gen 4 are my favorite games😁😁. Also, very nice video, no annoying background music, chill voice. good game!

nice! It takes a while i knoww. Honestly Gen 4 games are all awesome its hard to pick a fav for me. HGSS had so much content but platinum was so fun too. I put most of my hours in SS and Diamond. I havent been playing too much of those because I have been doing this gen but I want to make videos on those as well

Man, your passion really shows here. It's really inspiring, and makes me want to do something similar in my current Emerald/FireRed runs so I can come out of it with a few strong teams for battle towers/post game. I remember going absolutely balls to the wall in Diamond/Platinum/SoulSilver back in the day. I had shinies on shinies because I did lots of RNG manipulation (but no actual hacking per se). I think the only real hacking I did was I used my Diamond as my "dumpster" game where I always gave myself infinite rare candies. breed/catch in Platinum/SoulSilver, raise in those games, then transfer over to Diamond to bump to lvl 100 so I could actually use the mons in battles. I couldn't imagine grinding them to 100 normally. I guess E4 and Red battles in HGSS could work but it felt like a time sink. lol

Really nice collection, there's something very cool about having all that progress on an original cartridge, even if it's just a personal challenge. As a teen I had a silver cartridge, was only 3 or 4 away from a full dex that I spent hundreds of hours in. As I had a neighbour with a Japanese parent, they'd often ask them to take their game to get event pokemon when home for work, which they'd then trade with me. One day while playing sat at our neighbour's poolside, their cat hit my hand and I dropped it into their swimming pool which killed the console and the cartridge, maybe as an adult I'd have taken it apart and cleaned it and maybe saved it but as a kid I just dried it with a hairdryer which may have resulted in it's death a lot more than the water, might be one of the few people to get that much progress while the cartridge battery was still working completely fine.

Loved the video, Im sure others have said this already but you can do the pomeg berry glitch to unlock the events on emerald, that can end of giving u deoxys, mew and I think it can get u to hatch celebi and jirachi! I did it myself and now I have a shiny deoxys and mew so really recommend it.

i have played 3 pokemon games casually and just encountered my first shiny yesterday on my modded new 3ds in pokemon oras. It was a shiny dodu and I fumbled with only pokeball left. I have tried encountering again for a day now. I just understood how rare shinies really are.

Currently doing a run through ruby at the moment and got me my shiny treecko after 3 uncatchable shiny pooches, and a shiny adamant natured Aaron after 878 repel trick encounters in the cursed granite cave (I was hunting Mawile and I spent 4 months 14 days there before I decided I needed a break for mental stability sake.) Gen 3's some of my favorite pokemon games ever and I am hoping to get a hold of a copy of fire red again just so I can reclaim my first ever shiny, and shiny fail in the cinnabar mansion (it was a shiny weezing that broke out of 4 ultraballs and exploded on me when I was 10)

did the same man haha it crazy how many people did this instead of just sticking with a save file! I think that initial rush of a new adventure is what made us do it. Im itching for a new save file right now. Highly recommend playing again. Takes me back to being a kid every time i pick these games up!

Gen 3 is pretty much the best gen to have shinies. No methods. No shiny charm. No increased rate of getting one. Just pure grinding, patience, determination, perserverance and a whole lot of luck. Congrats man

Gotta give it to you for staying legit, I have my emerald set up with my id and sid so I can just search and time my shinies in gen 3. I wouldn't be doing any shiny hunt in ruby/sapphire/emerald the old fashion way. 😂

150 hours is a GOOD playthrough with these games, after that its like all that you could have done is done. HGSS is an exception!

Considering that nowadays it's very easy to hack the game and use emulators and programs to obtain shinies and Pokémon with perfect IVs without the need for grinding or spending hours, it's admirable and you can see the love he has for the game and Pokémon to dedicate so much to this. I play pokemon since i was 7 years old and now I am 32 I started playing pokemon red and blue in my GBC... then played all poke games until now that I have the Nintendo switch purple/violet, but I don't play meta anymore ur videos made me feel nostalgic and I downloaded a gba emulator and games lol

Beautiful dedication! Just wondering, have you ever played with the wireless adapter with other people? I’ve heard stories about it that there was a option to chat, trade and fight other players in a server of 30 people thanks to the wireless adapter.

Thanks! And i havent done that since high school. I traded with some friend for the starters! There is some weird room you can enter and chat and stuff. Its janky haha. I never had more than like 3 people in a room at once

This game (firered) is one of my favourite remasters, but also 2-D sprites, colors, etc. don’t get me wrong, I am a sucker for OG Yellow and Blue, but Red was inferior.

Respect to the dedication, I can’t lie I could never, that’s some serious work right there and very impressive

Since you already beat XD you should do the in game trade for the 100% Shiny Larvitar. Soft reseting for that would be way faster than trying to get a random encounter off a 5% chance in sevault canyon.

@nostalgicnighthawk Yeah! Another nearly impossible to get gen 3 shiny you can find in XD is Gligar in the pokespots. The only way to get him otherwise is in the emerald safari zone extension where his catch rate is really really low. I plan on going for both of them once I get my shiny bulbasaur in leafgreen.

Not sure if you are still hunting for Larvitar but you can actually soft reset it in XD gale of darkness from Duking's trade. Definitely easier than the seavault canyon one.

Lucky too that the shiny rayquaza had a good nature. Would have sucked if finally after all that grinding you get a shiny rayquaza with a hindering nature.

Yea was lucky! it would really stink if it was a bad nature. A neutral nature is acceptable but a hindering is baddd.

I have the exact same system to track EVs as you did in 2015, just tally marks in a notepad 😂

I like that you haven't cheated or glitched any of the game, but there's some cool things you can get by glitching pokemon emerald and/or ruby and sapphire. If you're gonna use a computer program to get mew... It's worth mentioning that you can get a legit event mew (with the trade lock unlocked) using the Pomeg glitch as well as all the other events like southern island, ho oh and Lugia, and there's also a way to get the exclusive berries from the GameCube games

I want to keep it as true as possible however like you said there are some cool things to experience with the glitching. I worry tho, does that berry glitch mess up the file?? I heard it can. Not sure if that was just a fear factor to stray people away from it

How did you soft reset for rayquaza and metagross? I thought Emeralds RNG was set from when you load the save file so you would always be hitting the same frames. Is there a workaround you used?

I did it in sapphire! Yea emerald soft resetting is weirdd. Ruby and sapphire are fine to soft reset but your battery cannot be dead

you can run away in emerald and it respawn when you reenter the room without setting rng seed to 0

for me personally one of my fastest shinies i ever got was (ironicly) on emerald was restarting a new game in like february on a sunday, my thought was like "meh, couldnt hurt to try a shinylock on that gen" and on the very next day, while on a break at work while talking to some friends, out of nowhere my shiny mudkip appeard; after ~50 resets in total had just 2 hunts i can remember were faster (arcticuno on ultramoon with ~10 and a entei on the same game ~30 resets)

the screen on my modded SP is the IPS screen. This is much brighter and cripser than the original screens IMO!

I beleive I transfered it to gen 4/5 for the pokedex. It was something like that
