$1000 240SX complete comp car build in 1 week PART 1

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Two of my Lone Star Drift drivers are trying to build a complete competition turbo motor S13 240SX in about a week for Round 5 of Lone Star Drift, and I am highly suspect on all the details of the entire project, but I thought you guys might like to see their progress and what they are doing! The engine is going to be a CA18DET and the chassis is a S13 hatch 240SX, kinda like a 180SX but we never got those in the USA.

Been my dream car since unlocked it by chance in a video game completely oblivious to what the car was, I was around 12-13 just before they shot up in value, funny thing is I could have easily saved and got one but buying a car wasn’t on my radar, maybe I’ll be lucky and find one for cheap but I ended up with an eclipse and I’ve fallen in love with that so I’m spending all my money on that

It's a good idea to have an oil pressure warning light aswell as a gauge. You can easily miss a guage reading before it's too late, but you won't miss a warning light.

In the UK we got the CA18det from 89>94/5 in the 200sx s13 hatch+pop ups only, pignose 89>91,kouki 91>95, the CA is more popular here but still the SR20 is the engine most want coz internets call it gods engine and stuff,so the 23,300 miles never opened totally stock sr20det bentcam/vvt in my '99 14a/kouki would nearly fetch more than a complete s13 with a near stock CA18det as pikey drifters gave it such a bad rep for doing big ends ,when the SR is nearly as bad for big ends knocking ino,the CA failures are its sump design 3.5 litres of oil stock, the cylinder head main oil return is in the middle of the head so high revs head fills with oil and the no baffel/oil control sump the thing oil starves I like the CA18 and built a fully forged with rear of cylinder head drains & welded adapter plate to the stock steel sump to use a Greedy style baffled sump for the SR20 with a better design rb25 NEO oil pick up pipe, with a thermo contoled 30 row cooler its at near 5.5 litres oil capacity and much better oil surge control/oil return 2 AN12 direct to sump ,without these mods I hope and pray it lasts for you,if it fails try the above and run it again the stock cranks are very strong like 845 WHP strong over 700 has been done few times here and europe ,even rattling like it will explode the journals can take it if never ground from stock, at least take some spare shells & sump sealant, other bad areas could be stock coilpacks failing and/or the harness as it gets gets cooked brittle under the coilpack cover( dont run it imo) and lastly it has no SR drone so they sound way better imo as well

If you aren't from the USA, only the most abused and sad CA18 ever got put into the cheapest and saddest S-Chassis in the USA, and no one knew much about them. So you would literally NEVER see a nice CA18 swap in the USA, because anyone that wanted something nice put a SR or something else in their car. Since it was so much effort to swap something in in the first place. All we got were KA cars here.

@@integra167 I think Aaron could've worded it slightly differently, but the whole point for us was never to only spend "1k" start to finish. It was to only spend an additional 1k on top of the parts we already had laying around from all the years of building cars etc. We didnt do too badly either, came in around 1400-1500 roughly.
