100-Year-Old Trick To PEELING Hard-Boiled EGGs 🥚

Macadamia Nut Butter & Parmesan Deviled Eggs
When it comes to making deviled eggs I suggest making extra. Is there ever enough? The traditional deviled eggs are pretty close to perfect in my opinion, but when you have something so right, isn’t it correct to say it can only get better? That was my thinking with this simple recipe. I took two ingredients I love and I believe most people do, macadamia nuts and parmesan cheese, and introduced them to deviled eggs.
PEELING HARD BOILED EGGS - 100 Year Old Trick
I think we have all suffered through peeling eggs that do not want to peel. Having to pick off one piece at a time, just wondering when the nightmare will end.
I’m with you, I do NOT like peeling hard-boiled eggs. For this reason, I wanted to find out what the tricks are to peeling them with ease. I found the answer from an 80-year-old. I’ll give you a hint. It’s so crazy easy you’ll wonder why you ever knew…
How To Get The Perfect Egg For PEELING - Knowledge About Shopping For EGGS
When eggs arrive at the grocery store they are 3 to 5 days old. There is something called the Julian date on each carton of eggs.
Julian date ranges from 1 to 365. The number reflex the day of the year they were “laid”
Older eggs make for easier peeling. Perfect hard-boiled eggs are 7 to 10 days old

HOW-TO DIRECTIONS FOR HARD-BOILED EGG 1) Add eggs to a large pot and cover with water, cover the eggs by around 2 inches ( You can add some salt and vinegar to assist - helps harden the eggshells ) 2) Turn ON the heat on the stove and bring the water almost to the boil 3) Once hot enough turn OFF the heat 4) Next cover the pot with a lid 5) Set a timer for 8-9 minutes 6) Once the timer goes off make a few cracks in each egg to allow some of the water to enter the eggs ( this begins the process of removing the shell from the eggs ) 7) Set the timer again for 3-5 minutes ( timing will depend on your elevation ) 8) Once the timer goes off place the eggs in cold water for a few minutes to cool them down 9) Peel the eggs and enjoy

I don't think step 6, cracking the eggs, is necessary. They peel easily even without this step. I think that if you crack them then they don't last quite as long in the refrigerator, which is fine if you're going to eat them all in a few days or make a batch of deviled eggs. But leaving the shell completely intact will allow longer storage, over a week. The main trick is buying the eggs and waiting a week before hard-boiling them. It's the waiting a week that makes them easy to peel.

Listen, Everyone: I’m no conspiracy theorist but I SWEAR they’re watching us! I made tuna salad yesterday and spent a good 45 minutes peeling off little chips of egg shell from my eggs. But then do you use them up immediatly after making? How do you store them if you don't use it asap? I make like 10 eggs for an entire week, i can peel them and store them in the fridge but a couple of days later the egg itself becomes harder; n if i store them with shell in the fridge then it's hard to break the egg shells coz it's cold.

in my experience, having the water at a boil before putting the eggs in makes the biggest difference in peel-ability. I forgot this rule and put eggs in a room temp pot then bringing it up to temperature, and the eggs were unpeelable. I went tried the starting with boiling water, and peeling was easy again.

I haven't tried this trick but I found a trick that seriously works best....put a tsp of lemon juice in with the water while boiling & the shells literally fall off. I was so sceptical of this until I tried it & I will never boil another egg without lemon juice! It's incredible!
@Osnosis

This is essentially the same idea as adding a tsp of vinegar. The additional salt also raises the boiling temp (which is a good idea at high altitude, as water boils at a lower temp there).
@Skashoon
3 ай бұрын
I’ll have to try that. I’ve used vinegar without any measurable difference. The thing that helped me the most is using week-old eggs. I also don’t refrigerate my eggs from my chickens unless I’ve had to wash them, which removes the ‘bloom’ and then requires refrigeration.
Got it (after reading your instructions!). Thanks.
And another alternative to consider: The membrane can also be made to separate more easily if you steam them instead of boil. The steam is much hotter than boiling water and does the trick. The shells almost fall off. I get perfect eggs by steaming 12-12.5 minutes.

Once they've cooled you can put them in a plastic storage bowl with the lid on and give them a shake. Don't worry, it won't hurt the eggs, and that'll help crack the shell more so it's easier to peel.

add water to cover half the eggs and shake quite hard.Peel under running water and the shell falls off.
Tried this out from my usual method of letting it reach a rolling boil first. Did everything exactly as described, except that I let the eggs sit in the hot water at the "almost boiling" point a bit longer than directed, just to try to make sure they'd be cooked. None of them were cooked by the end. Wasted several eggs.

How would vinegar harden the eggshell if it reacts with calcium carbonate? I would cook old eggs by default, starting with the oldest package, and put fresh eggs in a queue. To make the biggest difference in peeing: put them in already boiling water with the help of a spoon, peel under water. They don't even need to be fully chilled. If a egg does crack it will solidify before much material pours out.
I subscribed u I subscribe to every video I watch to try to help people even if I don't like the video I still subscribe to them anyhow .
Easiest way to boil eggs and have them peel easily is to steam them.. Doesnt matter if theyre old or fresh, by steaming them you have 100% of your heat all the time. Steaming for 13 mins and then ice bath works every time.. Its a lot faster also as you only need about 2 inches of water instead of a pot of water. Try it out

You could mention that there is a membrane between the egg white and the shell that assists a larger shell-peel if it is not broken.

Very true, and an excellent comment!
Thanks but one silly question,at what time do you go into the pot and crack em?
Add about a half cup of white vinegar to the eggs when you boil them . They will always peel easy.
I did this by accident one time (not exact method) and have used it since, my record is 2 pieces of shell for 1 shelled egg.
Get the water boiling BEFORE placing the eggs in. Either lower with basket or 2-3 at a time with large spoon.
THANKS YOU GOODNESS 🌟❤️🖤💚🤎 FAMILY DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜 AWESOME BEAUTIFUL ✨🥚
Please tell me how long they’ve been in the water before you use the bottom of the glass to gently crack the membrane??
Another way is after shocking the eggs in iced water, place one egg at a time in a glass tumbler, cover the end with your hand and shake vigorously until the shell breaks. The shell should come off the egg easily. It always works for me.

I thought eggs have to boil for 5 mins or so after water gets to a rolling boiling? Did you cut off the temp before it boiled and rest it for ten mins with lid on or boil again with lid on?
So if they have been in the fridge should I soak them in water again before peeling ⁉️🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🐣🧺
I don't judge you in fact I trust you even more now since you used a bigger lid than what was necessary for that pot I am guilty of the same thing LOL I guess I'm a culinary genius
This has to be the best advice ever, just done my eggs and it worked brilliantly, literally took me seconds to peel my eggs ! Ive tried every other way and still struggled, this advice is amazing! thank you so much!
Tried a trick yesterday where you lightly tap the tip of the raw egg on the counter just hard enough to put small cracks in it and then cook normally. Worked like a charm as well.
Add eggs into already boiling water and it won’t attach to the shell. In cold water it slows the process down and makes it attach.

put a few eggs in a kettle full of cold water ,,, press the boil switch , let the kettle boil , then turn its self off ,,, leave till water is cool enough to lift the eggs out with your hand , rinse under a cold tap , peel easily and are still warm enough to be eaten . Perfect , rinse kettle and the jobs done.
Anyone know how to peel eggs after storing it in refrigerator? I usually store like 10 eggs in fridge without peeling them after boiling because it's for close to a week's worth of eggs for one person; But i can't break the shell after it's been in fridge and peeling eggs before storing them in fridge causes the egg itself to harden in couple of days so won't be able to eat em.
So the eggs sit in the hot water, covered, for 13 minutes... after the first 10 minutes lightly crack them? Or, do you crack them DURING the last 3 minutes of that 10 minutes?

Sorry, I thought I covered that in the video. The carton numbering works from January 1st to December 31 (1-365) Whichever date your carton has labeled will match the day of the calendar year(1-365). Count up from that date to know the number of days the egg has been hatched.

This is more complicated than it needs to be. Get any type of eggs. Put them in a pot of tap water. Bring them to a boil and boil the crap out of them for a minute or so. Cover and lower the heat to simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat, discard the hot water and fill the pot with cold water. Bang the crap out of the eggs in the water and the shells will fall right off. No need to even peel at them. Been using this method for 40 plus years and works every time.
