I crashed a similar force, but in a different way: recovery tank VT-55 (winch power up to 100 tons). Around the loop strength of wire rope winch and pulley over 2-max power. My VT-55: V12, capacity 40 liters, 580 hp power, weight 45 tons, the consumption of 260-1150 liters diesel / 100km. about 1 hour of work, 350 liters of diesel and most importantly it was safe.

Looks like the right way to do that job. Don't use expensive stuff, and keep a safe distance. Somewhat like taking down a tree. Explosives are for those constructions that you can't take down any other way.

Ha ha! I have a video of a silo almost the same...Taken down with a beam and a Cat 225 like this and it also dropped but did not fall over. I pushed it the rest of the way down. My beam was also on a set of dollies instead of chained directly to the bucket. But very very similar video!

Think about how much grain has been through there in the past century. The number of meals it made. The families who ate it. The generations who grew up on it. I suppose it had to be done, but I always hate to see old buildings come down. Just one more piece of history lost to the pages of a history book, if that.
