I realized the we haven't done many regular maintenance type videos. We had an LX470 in for rear pads and rotors so I filmed it. Slowly getting back in the groove of filming videos again.
One of the comments mentioned that I didn't link the shop info for appointments. Good call.

I appreciate you taking the time to video and explain what’s needed for this rear brake job.
Great American story from the OTRAMM site How We Started Our owner Ryan has been in and around Toyotas all of his life. Growing up his parents only drove Toyota vehicles. He began tinkering with repairs after he bought his dad’s 1987 4Runner while in highschool. It became very apparent that he’d have to maintain it himself to keep it going and have some fun upgrades on a high school budget. His dad gave him a set of tools and a factory service manual and things just snowballed from there. Soon his entire family had their own Toyota SUV for camping and off roading. After high school Ryan took an apprentice job in the collision and restoration business. He liked it enough to stay for a bit over a decade. While working in the body shop during the day he had a side business in the evenings building off road accessories for Land Cruisers. After moving back to Virginia in 2010 he decided to go out on his own. OTRAMM was officially born as On the Road Again Mobile Mechanic in July of 2011. What initially started as an all makes all models mobile repair business quickly morphed into way too many Land Cruisers parked in his driveway. Something needed to change. In 2016 we moved into our brick and mortar shop and On the Road Again became OTRAMM. The move to a shop brought even more work and Ryan quickly moved to only servicing Toyota, Honda, and Subaru. Demand was still high so he dropped to just Toyota and finally just Land Cruiser. He was by himself for a while until demand was enough that he needed help. Danny joined the crew in early 2017 and has been an integral part of the business since. We added Cody in 2020 and have been rocking along since. In 2022 we decided it was time for expansion so we opened our services back up to include all Toyota and Lexus vehicles as well as Subarus. We’ve also brought back the hybrid services that we used to do through our sister company Warrenton Hybrid. Whatever your Toyota, Lexus, or Subaru vehicle needs, we’re here to help!
Awesome video! Thank you!
thank you! appreciate you include the torque specs.
Nice work. All of your 80 and 100 series videos are the best on here no comparison. Thanks for all the good work. Keep it up.
I know this is coming for me in about 10k miles... Thanks for the walk through, very thorough!
your videos are extremely well done, keep up the good work and thanks for saving me a ton of money.
Thanks for making these videos!
Thanks, I like the basic stuff, good reviewing.
Thank you for yet another great tutorial video!
Great video, thanks for making it.
Happy to see some 100 series content.
Thanks for the detailed information. God bless you mate
Thanks, going to watch again, great info
Thanks, I've been hearing an occasional squeak/squeal that I think is coming from the rear brakes. A local shop familiar with cruisers say the pads and rotors measure OK. I've been avoiding taking everything apart since the front rotors look like such an involved process, but seeing today's video gives me confidence that I could clean and re-grease most of the parts in the rear calipers over a weekend.
Always love your very clear and concise videos. But can't believe ive now seen yet again a different way to do this job. Mostly different to others on the tear down of the caliper

Lots of ways to skin a cat 😃. I think everyone just has a slightly different method that works for them.

Thankyou OTRAMM! Do you take requests? Compression Check on a 4.5 Straight Six ? Love the channel. Thankyou.

Just did that as a short a few weeks ago. I rarely do an actual compression test. It's super limited in the info it gives. It's more common that I'll do a leak down test if I'm looking for the cause of an issue.
My mom told me not to forget to put on the protection 😂😊
Do you have to take calliper off if just changing rear pads? Great videos man, thank you. Just did my first front wheel bearings replacement thanks to you. Cheers.

You're going to have a hard time retracting the calipers without taking them off first. There are tools that will do it, but removing them is easier.
No backing plate on the pads?
Somewhat related, but how much drag do I have to set in the rear drum brakes of my 4Runner (1985 but 1988 rear axle)? Thanks
@OTRAMM
Жыл бұрын
It's been years since I've done a drum rear mini truck axle but I think it's about the same. There shouldn't be any drag. If the shoes are touching when the brakes aren't engaged they'd get hot and wear to quickly.
@otramm Is there supposed to be shim kits for those pads?
@OTRAMM
Жыл бұрын
There are but they cost neatly as much as the pads themselves. Most don't have them to reuse by the time we see them. And folks don't want to pay for new ones.
Please link the shop info on the videos so people can make appointment

Twisting as you go in helps. I had a really stubborn one yesterday that took several tries.
