100 Sega Genesis / Super Nes Games
This is a vid of 50 Sega Genesis, and 50 Snes games as played on their original consoles, and taken footage of via a video capture card.
I've been neglecting my retro systems lately, so some of the games on here aren't that great (I don't have another Snes game to switch off with The Flintstones which was a game I got for free otherwise believe me, I would), but I only have 50 games for the Snes, and 60+ for the Genesis (not including the Sega Genesis Collection on the PS2, and Sonic's Ultimate Sega Genesis Collection on the PS3 which I own both of).
I've been neglecting them, because it's a lot easier an more convenient to focus more on my newer systems who still have games in the stores, but seeing as I've hit around 260 PS2 games, I think it's time to finally focus on collecting for my retro systems who's collections are lacking. I missed out on a lot of games back in the day, because I was relatively poor, and could only afford so much, and by the time I was old enough to start buying my own games, most 8-bit, and 16-bit games had already disappeared from the store shelves.
However, I'm now going to try and fix this as much as possible, and I'm not going to buy any new games for a long time.
Instead of the usual "Where's this game or that game?" and "Your collection sucks" comments, I'd appreciate it more if you guys would instead give me some suggestions for my collections for both systems.
I know a lot of the obvious ones that I missed, and need to get (Like Contra 3, and Road Rash 3), but I'm also interested in seeing suggestions for games that don't get a lot of attention that I may have overlooked from that era of gaming.
============================
============================
Anyways, on to the text, I honestly don't have a favorite of these two systems. I love both the Genesis and Snes equally. I know that countless top 10 console lists by the mainstream gaming media will always put the Snes on top (The Genesis was always treated like the red headed step child of the two, but the Turbografx 16 was treated like the red headed step child's red headed step child), but I honestly can't say that one clearly beats the other in my mind. Maybe in some areas, like Snes wins in RPGs, but Genesis wins in beat 'em ups (Streets of Rage beats all others), but overall, both systems are equally great IMO.
I'm sure you guys can choose a favorite, but I can't. Both had such a huge impact on my childhood, due to me owning both (got the Genesis for Xmas '93, and later had to buy the Snes with my bro by saving up chore, and birthday money collectively) at the time. They're both equally awesome systems.
NOTE: I also made a vid with some game music, but I'm not sure if the music fits. It's really hard trying to select proper music for the 16-bit era that fits the footage. I'm not sure if I'm going to upload it.

    A lot of people back in the day thought Super Nintendo was better but after many years and going back and playing both systems people start to realize the Sega Genesis actually had the better games most the time but super Nintendo did have some epic shit as well.

    +Lore Torrent They both had vast libraries of great games. It would take some serious time to sift through them all and figure out which console was stronger in certain areas (particularly side-scrolling beat 'em ups and platformers). The most glaring difference was that Sega had more sports games, whereas the SNES had a wider variety of quality RPGs. For most people I think the latter has aged a lot better. The demand for old-school RPGs and SNES carts in general is a lot higher than the Genesis.

    That was epic. Seriously that video made me really happy because I just bought a snes last year and have not played really at all. To know I have such an awesome amount of games to discover on it is just so amazing.

    Firestrikers! Now there's an obscure one, I really loved that game, like a medieval adventure game mixed with breakout or arkanoid, pretty tough later on, but very unique and a lot of fun, especially when played two-player.

    This video was awesome. I owned a few of these games when I was younger, but for financial reasons had to sell all of them, and wish I hadn't. They are so hard to come by anymore... I was looking for something like this so I could fill up my emulator. Thanks!

    @ferglenut Actually, I was going to say Cannon Fodder as well, but I didn't remember it being on the Genesis. I just looked it up, and it appears to have had a port to every system at the time, but I mostly remember it being advertised for the Jaguar and 3DO at the time.

    Believe me, it took me many years to be able to get there on my own. Now i can sit down and beat the game in about an hour of playing.

    Yep. That's the best way to keep it even. Plus it's better to intermix the games from each system instead of segregating them, because I play the consoles like that. I jump from the Snes to the Genesis without giving it a second thought.

    nice really helps me keep it organized since im copying these to an interest list. i always alphabetize my games (even though they pale in comparison to your collection, since none predate the year 2000 and they are but a mere 78 to your 953-including my psp games) and i just pick up whichever i feel like. i switch back and forth as well.

  • @DookieCakes
    @DookieCakes14 жыл бұрын

    In total, 953 for all my systems. For the Genesis (not including the compilations on the PS2, and PS3), I have 63 (if I count the Genesis 6-pac as just one game) For the Snes I have 51 games

    In your description, you requested info on recommendations for your collection. I have one: buy a megadrive and SNES flash cart from Tototek. That way you can play every game ever released on REAL hardware and not have to pay extortionate prices on eBay for games which are no longer manufactured. I have a tototek for my Megadrive. Works flawlessly. Although, having said that, I still like to collect originals and have 100+ boxed :)

    I need more Genesis Shmups. I've heard good things about Gaires and Sagaia. Also, one of the thunder force games is rather expensive as it comes to Genesis games.

    Honestly, Hyperstone Heist plays smoother and controls better than TMNT IV. It doesn't have the mode 7 levels, or the ability to throw enemies at the screen, but I recently played through both of them one after the other, and realized that TMNT IV doesn't play as smoothly as Hyperstone Heist. Out of the two Hyperstone is my favorite. However neither are as good as Turtles III on the NES IMO.

    I'm trying to find an old sega genesis game I played long ago but I can hardly remember anything about it. Only that it was a fantasy game, the map *seemed* open world, you could move from land to boat real fast, it had sand and stuff. I wish I could remember more :(

    I've been looking for a game I played when i was little for a long time. From what I remember, it played similar to Shining Force, there was some weird jelly-fish looking units that used magic, and the last boss was a three headed golden dragon. Only reason I remember is is because the Hero has to drive his sword into the Dragon, and he turns to stone and the whole castle sinks. (It made me cry) If any one can help, I would be grateful. Pretty sure it was Genisis, could be wrong though.

    I was never into handhelds as much. My hand held library is pretty barren, but I do have the GBA Player for the Gamecube, so I'm thinking about going back and picking up a lot of great GB, GBC,a nd GBA games that I've missed out on all these years. I just don;t like squinting at a tiny screen. I have a GB, GBA SP, Game Gear, Virtual boy (not exactly a hand held), and the ultimate hand held, the Sega Nomad.
