100 Players Develop Kingdoms in Minecraft

Ойындар

What if kingdoms formed in Minecraft? In this video, we investigate this question by simulating medieval civilization with peasants and vikings!

100 players are dropped into different biomes with a unique specialty to encourage trade and diplomacy between civilizations. We’ve also added proximity chat to simulate realistic human interactions. In true medieval fashion, lawless vikings are scattered throughout the land, putting pressure on nations to cooperate. Each region tests how a society would develop with their own strengths and weaknesses. Will people form an empire or will the regions plunge into anarchy?
This is Simulating Kingdoms in Minecraft, a variation of 100 Players Simulate Civilization in Minecraft! Everything from the primitive caveman beginnings to allied kingdoms fighting to the death will be covered. This will truly test the theories of what if everyone was trapped in minecraft, with more nuanced interactions.
A lot of planning went into this video! Big thank you to Flare, Arby, Jade, Yamalay and everyone else who helped in the creation of the event and video. The style of this video is similar to Primer, Wilbur Soot in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like @Primer and @Wilbur Soot .

I watched this before dinner and had a thought while eating - how would these societies develop if ALL of them were in an area of scarce resources? Or ALL in an area rich in resources? The thinking is, in these kinds of experiments the starting biome often has an affect on the culture of the people. So, in the proposed scenario, would all kingdoms unite? Or (my bet) would new reasons for division be found? What do you think?

  • @MagicGum

    @MagicGum

This is interesting to think about! We tried to make it so each region lacked something to try to drive more trade. But it also made it so that those with stronger advantages hoarded all their resources and didn’t want to give them up. We did get to see trade when survival was threatened tho (Desert with food). It would definitely change the leverage of societies with everyone having resource rich or scarce areas. One of the main reasons we found for conflict was when a region found another region to be a threat to their power so as long as people aren’t overwhelmingly in control, there probably will be disputes!

Elytrians would most likely develop a nomadic civilization to avoid the debuffs of being under roofs. And either trade valuable odds and ends or would raid other civilizations to get food and weapons. Enderians would most likely either go underground or live in Savannah biomes where rain is less of an issue, their extended reach would give them mining and combat advantages over most other origins. Avians would be forced to live either in skybases or mountain regions to sleep and their vegetarian diet would force them to trade with other groups for crops. Shulks would be great warriors and traders. Merlings would found their entire civilization near the water for obvious reasons. Blazeborns would be challenging for a video but it could be possible to tp them into the overworld right?

Vikings (people who don’t specialize in any biome) join snow kingdom 4. The Viking who didn’t want to join the snow kingdom go to the swamp kingdom to warn them that the snow kingdom might become powerful and join the swamp kingdom 5. Swamp people try to seek help in the mountains and fail (mountains want to remain neutral) 6. Plains and Desert trade (starting to form alliance) 7. Snow don’t know of their reputation (blood thirsty killer) around the world 8. Snow go to swamp to be friendly and nice 9. Swamp believe they are being attacked 10. War between Snow and Swamp 11. Swamp is wiped out 12. Snow control swamp 13. Snow messenger goes south to Plains and Desert 14. Messenger dies 15. Snow goes south to talk to Plains and Desert 16. Snow gets attacked by Plains and Desert 17. Snow retreat 18. Snow make peace with Plains and Desert (forming bigger alliance) 19. Snow spreads lies about Mountains saying they will attack Snow 20. Alliance attacks Mountains 21. Mountains fights back and retreats through the Mountains using secret hatch to mine (While sacrificing leader) 22. Mountain survivors try to escape through the mines 23. Mountains nearly caught a couple of times 24. Mountains escape and abandon their home 25. Snow, Plains, Desert rewrite history in their view while survivors of Swamp and Mountains scatter throughout the world. Swamp having their own views of the Snow fought back not knowing the simple misunderstanding. Mountains the real losers, the ones who wanted to remain isolated and out of war, lost their home. Snow, Plains and Desert live in harmony believing they restored peace in the land. (Let me know if there’s anything that should be added)

i think it would be interesting if each of the kingdoms could actually raise armies, instead of just having to rely on the number of people they start with, some kind of population mechanic would be great. that way kingdoms that are prosperous actually have an advantage in resources and manpower, otherwise anyone can just overwhelm them in sheer numbers, you know there wouldnt be any point in having a proper civilization with farmers, workers, miners etc. if you can just mass a bunch of warriors and raid the land like the vikings and nomadic tribes. i think a proper civilization building mechanic would be really interesting to see, you know like specialization of labor, some kind of economy system, perhaps using some mods to add various NPC's that can be used as guards, farmers, soldiers, etc. that way you actually grow your kingdom and civilization. With actual cities and towns and population centers. And the key to building a successful civilization would be being able to feed and sustain your population. that way successful and prosperous civilizations actually grow in size and strength, with larger manpower and resources, to raise larger and more powerful armies.

As the lead builder for alchembrew it made my incredibly proud to see my ziggurat be one of the main focal points of the video. Some behind the scenes for people who weren't part of alchembrew is when it was still that cross in the sky people were like hey TheGeckoLord what are you building there and I had to basically sell them all on the idea of the ziggurat. I had a ton of fun playing and can't wait to hopefully play in the next one! P.S. I only tried to kill that one dude because I knew we were 25 blocks up and was worried he would start attacking us as he was getting more and more cornered, i just unfortunately forgot that most of the ground was made of water but thankfully no one died from it.

Shame you guys died, you had good architecture! But sadly ya'll and mountain got wiped out because some fools in your nation assumed the ice nation was invading when they just wanted to talk and shot first without ever trying to consider talking. Ya'll paid for the price for their self-fulfilling prophecy :/ Also to the P.S., I think that's a misjudgment on your part since both made the situation worse and it would be stupid for him to attack that many people around him, even with his powerful gear. And also why would he betray his team so badly by slaughtering them all? Really from what I'm getting from this, y'all tried to force him out of his gear so you can have it for yourselves. The poor dude did nothing wrong and got killed for using a strategy.

Here's an idea: Interdimensional war. Have custom overworld, nether, and end maps made to be the bases of the civilizations. After a certain point, portals will open around the worlds at undisclosed spots, and what happens next is up to the players. Ally with other worlds? Lay siege to their land and become conquerors of dimensions? Who knows?

This could work, especially if modded dimensions are implemented so it's not just 3 dimensions actually

I don't know what is doable, but I think it'd be very cool if Kingdoms had some kind of way to get new people. Maybe by paying with food, like 5 stacks bread and you can get a new player. Another cool idea would be making resources more important, basically allowing to craft weapons/Armor/tools of strategic importance that just cost absurd amounts of iron/gold/diamond whatever really. Again, I don't know if this is possible and if you plan to keep it vanilla that's perfectly fine, I am just putting some thoughts out there.

Yeah, you should add mods to make it more realistic than it already is, not that it is not already realistic. Some suggestions are: Crafting things take longer as in the real world stuff isn't instant Instead of potions u could have training as people to train their body for stuff like jumping high, having strength and other stuff like that. These are just some suggestions of the top of my head. Also quick question. How could I be a part of these videos as one of your "peasants"

Yup mods would lag, and not all players can use mods or will be willing to download them, but I do like the idea that the kingdoms could be more expansive (in terms of land and people) rather than just communicating with other kingdoms to claim victory

You should add a “resurrection/reproduction” system were every now and then nation can regain fallen player for a price of food and some valuables because a static population doesn’t make much sense.
