    Not gonna lie, I used Modafinil for the first time ever about 2 years ago, I'm 51. I was working on a national project that demanded a load of focus, I have serious focus issues, I didn't even know why. I work as a senior exec in big pharma. I remained razor-sharp and focused, it was insane, I hadn't been that clear in my thinking ever, I absolutely smashed the project, even when I look back at my notes I'm like "holy shit, did I really write this thing"? I explained my experiences to my doc, who referred me to psychiatry, they did all the AD tests and concluded I needed long-term treatment. I only take it when I have something big coming up. Honestly couldn't believe the difference it made to me, my vocabulary, my depth of thought, intellect, it all just came alive.....nuts!

    Nicotine gum for studying is very nice. Physical withdrawal also isn't that unpleasant. I actually enjoy the cognitive impairment the withdrawal gives me in certain social situations, because it allows me to just be in the moment, because I lack the cognitive ability to overanalyze. Only downside to nicotine is that after chewing gum all day for studying and feeling amazing (like 10mg in total), I feel depressive symptoms reliably like 1 hour after the last gum.

    Could it be the extraordinarily low dose? Im gonna generalize here but typically drug addicts take extremely large doses compared to pharmaceutical use( Exceptions apply of course[especially for opioids]) here he says he takes 5 mg of Adderall which is extremely low, that's the recommended dose for small children taking it for adhd. Although I DO doubt they feel the same since the method of action is so different. IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY nicotine largely focuses on acetylcholine for focus while Adderall focuses on dopamine for focus. Although the end effect is similar(increased Focus[For adderall this only applies to reasonable medical doses]), and i have no anecdotal experience with nicotine(quite a bit with adderall) i doubt they feel similar. It might be that the Adderall dose is so low he doesnt actually "Feel" any subjective experience and is purely Experiencing the end effect. Which as mentioned is similar for both.

I did struggle with imposter syndrome for a while but my thought process was that im no less myself on adderall as I am on ADHD. ADHD is stopping me from expressing myself by crushing my dopamine on AT LEAST the same level as ADHD is stopping me from being myself by blitzing my dopamine. Point is, it always makes me sad when i hear people talk about they're failed attempts at medicating their disorders. ALTHOUGH, to be fair, I started medicating at 20yrs old, 9 months ago. If your not too turned off by them maybe try getting a psychiatrist and try a few different options? Anyways, Good luck my dude, stay strong no matter what you do!

    just for the record, the drug nicotine itself does have addictive potential on its own without any ritual or social elements built up around using the drug, yes social and external factors are primarily responsible for roughly 80-90% of nicotine addictions, but that remaining 10-20% is still the highest addiction potential of any drug other than sugar bro, nicotine has a larger chemical hook than heroin, and cocaine, and meth, and there have been meta studies that conclude its got a higher addiction potential on its own than all three (heroin, cocaine, and meth) combined, but that still only accounts for roughly a fifth of the addiction cases dealt with in the study.

    @@harryc8433 so what is most likely is that you just fall into the 80-90% of users who dont really feel the chemical hook, it could be genetic, but its most likely that you were using the drug to feel good, or for its many benefits, as where that 10-20% of people could start using for any reason and then feel that chemical hook. essentially the data suggests that people dont just get addicted to the drug, its activities that are ritualized around the drug, so I can only assume that you in particular either didn't develop anything like that, or were easily able to replace any smoking related rituals with something else.

    Yoo derek I hope youl see this comment. First of all i recommend watching Haircafe video on Cylosporine. I would like to hesr youre opinion on it. Besides that i have some facts which may help to show theoretically it should be safe. 1. Cyclosporine has a molar mass of 1202.6 g/mol, that's 6 times bigger than minoxidil's and considering minoxidil's low systemic absorption (1.7%), cyclosporine will barely make it to the dermis. 2. Any substance that has a molecular weight greater than 500g/mol (500 Dalton rule) has hardly any systemic absorption, that's why in the studies, there were no adverse effects. 3. To even achieve that immune suppression effect of CsA, it should be taken at high doses (>100mg); a 5% CsA solution is safe. You would be rembered for ever if we could crowdfund a study snd maybe get a topical solution to buy online. Since youre the biggest youtuber talking scientifically and correct about hairloss youre the only one who could make such a thing possible. Love youre content.

    I don't know about Adderall but I know multiple veterans who have been safely prescribed Dexadrine in a controlled medical environment. All had severe PTSD and belonged to a PTSD support group for veterans. They were monitored daily for a period of 1-4months, and it has proven very effective for all of them I spoke with. All of them have been on it now for almost a year. But all were diagnosed with ADHD, and individuals with ADHD have lower dopamine production. What the stimulant was actually providing was dopamine, so in these cases it was very effective and actually lowered their anxiety. Not everyone responds the same to stims, some individuals it can cause anxiety, and others it has a calming effect. Many of these veterans tried different stimulants, and also different doses till the psychiatrist and medical team found the right one that worked form them. There is a large biological component to how your body will react to certain drugs, if possible also try to create the safest environment (lower workload, healthy diet, no other drugs, no alcohol, and keep your doctor/psychiatrist up to date on your progress) to begin, it can easily take most people 2-4 weeks for their bodies to adjust. Most common side effects are loss of appetite, increased sex drive, increased heart rate (not recommended for people with heart problems) and insomnia. Hope this is helpful, be safe.

    Just understand that everything in life is a trade-off, and your decision to do adderall is no different. Look at it like a deal with the Devil. It will give you short-term benefits, but remember, the Devil always comes to collect. With drugs/pharmaceuticals like adderall its a very tangible trade-off. You are altering the way your body functions at a fundamental and basic level. The benefits can only last for so long. I'd suggest getting off the stuff before the Devil comes to collect. Figure out how to improve your life and your behavior naturally. Really try it before you take the stuff.

    At the neurological level, Adderall binds to norepinephrine and dopamine receptors in the brain as well as epinephrine receptors in the adrenal gland. As a result, there is an increase in the level of “feel-good” chemicals in the brain, which improves the individual’s concentration, alertness, and focus but also causes euphoria. Normally, dopamine is reabsorbed back into receptors in the brain and released again when something pleasurable stimulates that release. Adderall floods the brain with dopamine and prevents it from being reabsorbed quickly.

That, or it just doesn't work on me. I tried 100mg in the morning and 100mg after lunch. Then I tried 200mg in the morning. Then i tried 50/50/50. Then 200/200. I don't know if it's placebo or not, but I just felt a bit more focused, like my attention to my surroundings was just a bit clearer. It's said that it's better to not workout when you take the pill because it somehow numbs your pain receptors or, at least, you just feel pushing yourself past your limits. Of course I took 200mg and went straight to the gym to smash myself, but I didn't see any improvement, nothing different. Maybe I'm just always training hard and actually like the pain and the burn from things like leg press and leg extension and someone else who trains easier would benefit more from the pill. As someone with the worst form of ADHD (diagnosed with Ring of Fire at age 10). Been on every med you can name at the highest doses. Currently on Dexadrine ER 15mg 2x day just to calm me down or I’m too hyper all day and can’t concentrate well. It’s weird for me when people say “adderral” or “drug X” can help them work longer and better when for me it just allows me to slow down and focus.

  • @MemoTea

    @@MemoTea yup. It took me years to find a proper med and dose. Because without the meds I can’t hardly relax. Today, for instance, I haven’t taken my meds since I wasn’t working and I don’t take It on days off. I’ve been up since 5 am, it’s going on 10pm now, and all day long I’ve felt nonstop mentally and physically. Can’t sit still much. Mentally feeling like I have to be doing something so I do my errands on days off of meds. I’ve heard people say when they take meds It allows them to focus insanely well and be productive for like 4-6 hours. That’s me off my meds except my focus sucks and I can’t remember much. But I’m constantly like “go go go!” Energy off meds. But when you average 4 hours of sleep nightly without taking sleep aids because you can’t sleep due to being wide awake all day, It takes a toll mentally. It has its advantages but also disadvantages. I’m always hyper. Constant migraines off meds. I hardly sleep and I never get tired. But focus sucks off meds. It’s hard to describe It though since to me this is normal as it’s all I know. Even though I know this might sound confusing so I’m sorry if It does.

    @@patrickbateman9314 I can relate. I have a milder form of ADHD than yours. I take 20mg of Ritalin on most work days, or just before a task that is not pleasurable to me like grocery shopping or being at boring social event. Although I'm tankful for the meds, what really has been a game changer for me is scheduling my dopamine exposure through being attentive to my daily behaviours. Whenever I feel agitated now, I consciously limit my access to Food, Phone, You Tube, Pornography, Video Games etc. which drains my dopamine reserves and lowers my baseline long term, which in it's turn makes me fall into a vicious loop where I try to compensate again the next day with unhealthy pleasure seeking behaviours and my mind and body being restless and with too much energy. This has helped me anker the ship in the storm so to say, regaining sleep hygiene and better health overall.

  • @patrickbateman9314

    @patrickbateman9314

    Жыл бұрын

    @@MemoTea I’ve been trying to figure out how to use dopamine for my advantage because I’m at an age now where things like video games, tv, porn, etc. brings me zero pleasure anymore. And it’s not that I find things miserable to do, because I’m always like “well It has to be done so let’s do It” attitude. But my struggle is I just can’t ever relax. I’m always grinding my teeth. Jaw clenched constantly. Fidgeting all day. Can’t sit still unless my brain is stimulated with a task. I’m always wide awake and full of energy and it’s very rare for me to be tired physically but I get mentally drained when I end up working 12-15 hours a day or being mentally active that long and I sleep very little. So It adds up after a few days to where mentally I can’t function well, even though physically my energy is high. And even still I can’t relax and take a nap or even do something normal like get a massage or however people relax. I have days where I’m bored and not with anything to do at the moment and it’s my day off work, so I’ll go out and do DoorDash or something to get me out of the house and keep me busy until I can think of something because I’m incapable of just sitting down and watching tv or anything like that. It is a lot worse than that which I won’t explain because It won’t make sense to most, but my headspace is truly non stop 24/7. Basically whatever people feel on meds with caffeine and stimulants that keeps them mentally stimulated, that’s me 24/7 and It never slows down really. Like I said, hard to explain since I still don’t fully understand myself yet.

    So as someone who is prescribed 40 mg of adderall a day, who actually uses adrafinil which is the prodrug for modafinil. My insights would be this: Number 1, if you’re gonna need liquid calories for your first few meals, it is what it is. I train super early 3 am, and intermittent fast until noon. I’ve made it to my feeding window in the past ok most of the time, due to drinking shitloads of cold water and black coffee, the adderall helped me taper down my caffeine intake and I make it to the window with no issues now. This combination in the gym, is fantastic. I am honed in and focused on my lifts on a level I never used to be. I do have ADHD, and yes that can fuck with your focus during lifts. Would not recommend on cardio days though, unless you’re doing low intensity steady state. As far as this combination and work in everyday life: You will turn into one efficient mother fucker. Your work anxiety will drop, you will not be worried about deadlines, etc because you are so calm, focused and efficient. It’s another world, honestly. I enjoy it, and it truly does help me, someone with legit ADHD, be more driven, focused and efficient in my life. Before my ADHD was crippling. I literally walked around with my head in my ass. Now I’m wondering how this combo would Work if I was slamming 2000 mg of test a week..
