I’ve used both modafinil and adderall and I’d strongly suggest modafinil over adderrall for long term. I can take 200 mg of modafinil a day and that’s plenty. For me effects last about 12 hours. Occasionally I will go to 300 mg. All nighters I can go to 400 mg but not for multiple days. Also I can fall right asleep when I need to. Adderrall is habit forming and addictive. If you combine both you can have serious sleep and anxiety issues. I can skip days on modafinil easily - quitting adderrall was difficult.

Laypeople really have no business doing “extensive research” on their own. Just because you can read English doesn’t mean you can understand nuance in study designs and analyze data. It really takes several years of experience to be able to properly review the literature on a given topic and appraise different sources.

just starting to get my adhd figured out again since a kid, ive always felt different and like I wanna do big things and I actually have and made it very far and ended up losing it all, now that im 24 and a change of normal life ive found im having an extremely hard time adjusting to the beginning process , I had got so used to my life already I developed so many ways to cope and avoid things I shouldve learned to deal with , I keep watching videos and it just keeps reinforcing im not sure what they're gonna want me to try or what will work best, I have tried adderal on the streets and it was way to strong , I would break down a XR 30 and make it last 4 days and that was too strong, I really hope this shit works because the fact so many other people deal with EVERYTHING I deal with gives me hope ive been scared to try to get help because Ive been addicted to opioids since 20 but ive been clean for over a year now with Suboxone and my doctors help

I’m 34, I was prescribed ritalin in 1st grade, went to adderall 30 mg, then overtime to 2 30 xr daily. Keep in mind, I have never overtaken my medication, I don’t drink nor smoke. I became pregnant at 28, doctor had me wing off, I gave birth to a perfect and healthy baby girl. I then was put back on them. I am thankful to have the medication, I can not function as a human without them, I can’t finish one damn task without getting distracted. All pharmacy’s are out in my area. I’m so freaked out.

I really appreciate you sharing your point of you so honestly. I’ve felt a little ashamed to tell people I take 20mg of adderall per week (I split it into 4 quarters) to increase my productivity. I’m a fitness coach so I’m torn over the potential long term side effects of the drug but at the same time I really enjoy that extra support in me being productive. I want to be the best version of myself in all aspects of life. I know you probably can’t tell for certain but how bad do you think it is for me to use this dosage on a weekly basis? I've really been struggling with ADHD to the point where I struggle to function doing daily tasks. I had BIG dreams that I still believe in, but they seem farther and farther away the worse my symptoms are getting. I don't know how to focus to achieve my dreams and goals.... I'm starting to think that maybe I can't achieve them. :( It's been the most challenging thing for me this past year. I also heavily struggle with RSD. I tried Adderall a few times and it really helps a lot, but I also am worried about the long-term affects. In the last year I've noticed my memory is becoming worse, my focus is worse, my ability to critically think and resolve issues is worse, and my overall mood has taken a big hit. I'm confused because I meditate a lot, have done a lot of shadow work on myself, align with spirit and love daily, eat healthy, and have a wonderful relationship. I feel like I should be okay, but a lot of days I spiral so intensely, to the point of imagining my funeral and that I'm no good. I'm very emotional and sensitive, but also feel like I have so much potential. But the more I get into these spirals, the more I feel like it's wasted potential. Do you have any advice for my situation? Much Love, -Sonja

Touching comment. I can sympathize. I also have ADHD, which I suspect has been compounded by brain fog from long-covid. Yet I have strong ambitions and am constantly birthing ideas I want to pursue. ... I'm seeing a lot of interesting things about taking Guanfacine + Adderall, or another stimulant. It means you can use both at a very low dose. (Guanfacine alone is not that effective for most people) The effect should be a signal boost + signal fine tuning. If you have anxiety or sleep problems on that, a stimulant + Clonidine is similar, less effective, but can be calming. Modafinil or Armodafinil could also work well, since they are both used for ADHD and depression and can help boost mood. Ask a doctor! I hope you find something that works.

This will be late but I hope u see this... If long term amphetamine (adderal, vyvanse, etc.) use made things worse u should read about monoamine oxidase inhibition. Amphetamines are reversable MAO-Inhibitors so they not only effect norepinephrine and dopamine levels, but all biogenic amins in your body. So u can have a mild or moderate serotonin syndrom if u get too high serotonin levels, or the so called "cheese effect" because of too much tyramine in the body. If thats the case u need to turn down tyramine and tryptophan from your diet. I had the same issue. Wish everyone all the best!

What is your take on Modafinil dosing. In some studies in healthy subjects, it seems to show no difference between 100 mg and 200mg when it comes to cognitive enhancement. In other studies, with ADHD children, it seems that more than 200mg is needed for optimal response. It seems that higher doses are needed to control hyperactivity in ADHD but in normal subjects, lower doses are sufficient for cognitive benifits. My question. Is there a ceiling effect? Would 50mg be just as effective as 200mg?

I am a Modafinil user for several years and really believe if you are looking for focus boost in a work environment I can recommend it. I take a 100mg dose (i cut the tablet) in the morning and my performance is very focused. I can handle number crunching and I'm just "on top of my game". I actually believe my IQ has increased. And the best part is I sleep very soundly at night even while dosing 5 days in a row. Now I don't normally dose every day because I am quite conscience about way I am using it , for concentration and focus. On my drive into work I can think deeply about subjects and make valuable connections with data, facts and rationalizations. So my advice is don't abuse it, use it at the lowest dose to get the desired "enhancement" you want. Also watch out for the versions that mix in alertness or stay up all day virtues.

I will make some crazy automation for a client and then the next day try and understand how I did it and I literally cant. All the studies say it only has effect on IQ after 24 hours of no sleep vs if you weren't on it and hadn't slept in 24 hours. But that's just simply not true because I've been taking it for years and my comprehension def is accelerated and that is def IQ.

Hey! I really liked the way you've talked and I myself have a situation right now... So basically it's been almost 20 years since I started to tell my parents I am always tired, and as time goes by this feeling is getting worse A lot things going on at the same time, family related, work related, and all of that makes me feel even worse than before. The thing is, everytime I try to talk to my doctor about this stuff she just gives me pointless exams to do (I know they're pointless because they're not related in any way to what I feel everyday, and I did some research myself) And it's been a few months or even years since I tried to talk about this problem with other people to seek a solution, since I can't even work like this, I almost fall asleep at work... A month back I went to a neurologist and he gave me some exams to perform, but the thing is...I had to pay 80€ to go talk to him and another 130€ for the exam and I can't afford to go back to him and perform more exams since I'm completely broke... So I was thinking about ordering some hydrafinil online and try it out, to see how I would react to it and see if it made any difference, since I don't feel sad or anything like that, it's just almost like a chronic tiredness that makes me feel uncomfortable and not able to perform certain tasks (one of the reasons why I'm 26 and still don't have a license)... What do you think about this? Do you have suggestions besides this substance? Sorry for this huge comment and thank you for all this information!

You need to go to a psychiatrist. Your general physician is simply not equipped to handle you. They focus on general health. When you went to a neurologist, you went too far the other way. I recommend finding a psychiatrist who specializes in narcolepsy. As for Hydrafinil, it's ok, but has drawbacks. It will metabolize into modafinil, but that takes a toll on your liver over time. You need to take more of it to equate to a dose of modafinil (standard start being 100mg, or half a tab). I don't know how much Hydrafinil you have to take to get that effect. But if I were you, I'd go for it. Use it to get ahold of your life. Save some money, hopefully get a job with insurance, and prioritize seeing a psychiatrist. Sorry you're dealing with this.

@@CitAllHearItAll Thank you for taking the time and try to help me! To be honest, I'm already taking it, I started taking it about 3 weeks ago. I don't take it every single day since I don't want to overstimulate my body with something that is still relatively unknown, but even just 50mg seems to have an huge effect on me! I know the dosage is quite low but, for some reason, it give me an huge kick! Maybe it's because I've never did drugs and I'm more sensitive because of it! But the feeling is kind of a fake "I'm not tired" though, underneath the effect I still feel tired, so I'm energetic but still tired. But that's obvious since my average sleep time is about 3 hours per night and that's simply not enough... But yeah, I'm going to keep using this substance until I find a way to pay for my exams, no matter the field! One last thing, I don't think is narcolepsy simply because I have both trouble falling asleep and stay asleep. Every single night I try to go to sleep at about 11 and put my alarm to wake me up at 7 I find myself falling asleep only when I'm exhausted, sometimes 4 or 5 hours later, constantly feeling uncomfortable in my bed (I have a quite good mattress tho) and not being able to let myself go. Then I have an app and a band to keep track of my sleeping cycles and usually it records about 5 and sometimes even more wakes during sleep. I don't remember them but it makes sense since I'm tired when I wake up. So yeah, this doesn't seem like narcolepsy to me, but I'll keep on looking, I have to solve this problem! Thank you again for taking your time!

Hi Doctor, Have you ever experimented with any of the "racetams"? In my experience with both myself and in my consulting practice, it's not always the best thing to focus on dopamine enhancement for productivity and focus. Acetylcholine is also a key player in reducing ADHD-like symptoms. Phenylpiracetam is especially great because it's not only an acetylcholine agonist, but is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor to a degree. I would love to know your thoughts and experiences. Thanks for your time!

Hi there! Thank you for your thoughtful comment and question. I have experimented with racetams, and I agree that not only dopamine but also acetylcholine can play an important role in reducing ADHD-like symptoms. I am curious to know what other experiences you have had with racetams and phenylpiracetam. Have you seen any other benefits?

  • @udaman100

    @udaman100

    Жыл бұрын

@Dr. Jay Feldman I've had a ton of experiences with the 7 major racetams. They all have their place and are tools for different purposes. One thing to keep in mind is that taking an acetylcholine precursor like Alpha GPC or CDP Choline (my prefered) is critical to prevent any potential side effects like headaches. Just have to be careful not to take too much (40mg - 85mg is usually good enough) My experiences are as follows: - 20mg - 40mg Fasoracetam is water soluble and is great for sleep and anxiety due to its gaba-b upregulation. In doing so, it also keeps glutamate down too which keeps thoughts from racing (a classic ADHD symptom). - Phenylpiracetam is water soluble and is great when combined with something like bromantane (increases tyrosine hydroxylase/dopa decarboxylase/tryptophan hydroxylase expression) for alertness. I would say that combination is the closest to "adderall" without the euphoric high. Bromantane doesn't work unless taken with a dopamine precursor like l-tyrosine or l-dopa though so it's best to keep that in mind. - Oxiracetam water soluble and is great for creativity. I've been playing drums for almost 20 years and I find when I'm writing music or playing along to a track, ideas come to mind much easier. - Pramiracetam (also known as the "study racetam") is my personal favourite of the racetams. It's fat soluble and is seriously amazing for learning new things and for "verbal fluency". This is due to the increase of "high affinity choline uptake". I work in sales and on days that I take Pramiracetam, I find that I perform a lot better and when I'm doing research, I retain much more information. - Coluracetam is fat soluble and has very similar effects to Pramiracetam but another interesting effect is the visual enhancement. People that have issues with their vision have reported that their vision gets better permenantly when using it. I haven't experimented with it much but I did notice that my vision was enhanced and that my information processing speed was greatly enhanced. - Aniracetm is fat soluble and is another racetam that's great for anxiety, verbal fluency, and retaining information. It increases memory "IO" or the ability to pull things in and out of your memory. I love using it for business presentations or social events due to the anxiolytic effects. - Piracetam water soluble and is another great racetam. In my experience it is best used when you have a busy day where you have to adapt to constant changes. The only downside is that you have to take a lot (2g-10g) to get a desired effect. I would love to discuss this further if you are interested. I've been using nootropics and other compounds for the last 12 years and have a ton of different experiences. I have even more to share with you if that piques your interest. Would you like to chat further? I can be reached on Instagram at sleepsloop157. Cheers!

Thanks a lot for this. I’m curious why Straterra doesn’t get more attention? My story which may be helpful: I was struggling to study for the bar exam. It’s very dry material (much worse than law school or real life legal work) and I just couldn’t get going. Got a prescription for Adderall, it would give me a boost of energy and a bit of an edge but wasn’t doing great overall on actually getting more done. Felt a bit speedy and crash at the end of the day was rough. Went back to doc asking if there was something else I could try. Switched to Straterra and got amazing results. Could endlessly focus on the most boring stuff and would get through a high volume of work each day. Only downside was that it made sleep difficult so I took daily Ambien through the exam (which I destroyed on a freakish level . . scored 4 standard deviations above the mean, and I’m not that smart. This pill turned me into a freak). After the exam I stopped taking straterra because I didn’t want long term risks and the sleep issue was at least one risk. I’ve used modafinil here and there since then. I get mild results. I find it helps for putting pen to paper i.e. writer’s block. But day to day it’s not super impactful. Given my results I’m surprised I don’t hear more discussion about Straterra. I’m considering trying it in small doses to see if I can get some benefit and still sleep.

I've mostly heard horrible things about Strattera from people in my life, and experienced it myself. To preface, I have really bad ADHD. I was prescribed Strattera when I was around 7 or 8 years old, and it gave me tics disorder and trichotillomania which I still deal with today. I also had an intense urge to make myself throw up while on it, but that went away when I moved onto Ritalin. My ex girlfriend also developed trichotillomania from taking Strattera, and hers was severe. My Mom, Brother, and high school friends didn't have severe adverse effects but they felt terrible on it. I've been prescribed a large number of different ADHD medications throughout my life and Adderall is the only one that has helped me without adverse effects (minus lack of sleep some nights), and it's been great for everyone I've talked to as well. I know Strattera probably isn't terrible for most people, but because of what I've experienced and heard from others it's really not surprising to me why it's not talked about more and why Adderall is.

Take Alpha-GPC with it. I am not a doctor, but I can provide you with some general information about the potential benefits of taking choline and modafinil together. Please consult a healthcare professional before making any decisions about medication or supplementation. Choline is an essential nutrient that plays a crucial role in various bodily functions, including cognitive processes and cell membrane integrity. Modafinil, on the other hand, is a wakefulness-promoting agent used to treat conditions such as narcolepsy and other sleep disorders. It has also been used off-label as a cognitive enhancer. Here are some potential reasons why someone might consider taking choline and modafinil together: 1. Enhanced cognitive function: Modafinil is known to improve focus, attention, and wakefulness, while choline is essential for the production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is involved in learning, memory, and attention. Combining choline and modafinil may lead to synergistic effects on cognitive function. 2. Reduced side effects: Some people who take modafinil report experiencing headaches as a side effect. Since choline is involved in maintaining proper brain function, supplementing with choline may help alleviate these headaches. 3. Improved neurotransmitter balance: Modafinil is known to increase dopamine levels in the brain, which can lead to improved motivation and mood. Choline, on the other hand, helps support the production of acetylcholine. By taking both choline and modafinil, one may be able to achieve a more balanced neurotransmitter profile in the brain. However, it's important to note that the combination of choline and modafinil may not be suitable for everyone, and individual responses may vary. Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement or medication regimen. Hope this helps!

How good for all of you neurotypicals. Meanwhile I struggle with ADHD. Vyvanse price is so high - the one and only stimulant that my sensitive brain can take -

You are a medical doctor, but you are telling people that Ritilan is the same as amphetamine. This is not true, the mechanism of action is *completely* different.

Adderall is one of many potential treatments for certain medical conditions. It's important to have a conversation with your doctor to ensure the best treatment for you. What other treatments have you considered?

I drove from whitefish Montana to corpus Christi in a day and a half and drove straight through and then back up to north Texas in sherman after dropping my friend off. Did it sober.

Why does it ha e to cost so much to get n be healthy? I GRT Adderall for $35 Iv women prescribed it for the better part of 20 years I've been taking it for the better part of seven. Right now I believe take 10 mg of a 30 mg extended released 4 out of 7 days a week. It feels that I need it at work and that I absolutely hate! Feeling so I need something to do something. Other than my brain. I have been very sick lately and I've lost a lot of weight... . But I know that's not the reason for the dramatic weight loss because I used to take a lot more and this did not have been. It definitely made me lose weight but it's not like this. So I'm really trying to get healthy but I just can't seem to get off of Adderall I don't understand it because especially on my days off I'm completely non-productive because of adderall. I get stuck on my phone or watching tv. At work it does wonders of course. But I have to be up and going in order for it to work correctly and then even then if I take a break or I'm in my car I get stuck. It didn't always used to be like this of course when I first started taking it it was a godsend my room was immaculate I could be everywhere on time I wasn't getting stuck on random things etc. But it's just like I have dyscalcula obviously it's a double edged sword because where they're are negatives there are also positives I work a sales job right now and I do phenomenal at it. Yeah I feel listen though years ago before I had this issue where I couldn't just get on and off Adderall as I used to be able to do with the zero problem but I feel like that is because I was on other things that I couldn't get off of and Adderall obviously has no intense withdrawal I felt like it was nothing now that it's all I'm on I'm feeling like I'm noticing everything that happens when I don't take it. So I'm very much looking for something that gives me clarity and motivation that is not at all because obviously if I can't get places on time and when I am those places I'm getting stuck doing things like my hair will make up in the bathroom on break or on my days off I'm getting absolutely nothing accomplished I'm just procrastinating always planning but procrastinating. And I don't have the time to do this I'm in my thirties I'm a woman I have a biological clock and it's scary. That's another thing obviously I did not want to be wrong if I were to get pregnant. I'm not trying at the moment so this is not a big worry of mine but God forbid. Obviously in that case I would just stop and lay my butt down somewhere regardless of what it took and I'm sure in about 3 months although I would be moody as anything I would get myself up and out and do what the hell I needed to do to nest for my job. I don't have any big motivator like that right now. I always feel as though after all is going to be the big motivator prior to taking it and then an hour after taking it I realize that was a mistake. All of these natural supplements cost more than my Adderall cost me. As well as eating healthy and even exercising LOL getting up and out and going and talking to people definitely helps but in order to do that I need to put gas in my car I need to get ready I need to look presentable and honestly what is that really to do? Work is what I do and I work best on adderall. I'm going to attempt to just take less and less each time I am at work and get something like he sees and drink alot of caffeine because I definitely can't live like this anymore. I just truly hope that I don't spend less money and get another pill that just gives me the jitters or worce DOSE NOTHING... Everything I have read keeps me naming on these other pills that have all of the ingredients in it in my research I have come across like I'll tyrosine and vitamin B12 lion's mane possibly different properties that are like mushrooms etc. I mean there's a lot of different things for mental health out there right now which I think is great, microdosing is huge butt there is my greatest thing with these mushroom capsules that they sell online and then there is microdosing with the real mushroom capsules there is Microsoft thing ketamine but it cost s like $25,000 and that's just for the initial treatment instead of down after that more and more of course you can take a loan out but I mean I need to buy a house so buy a house or get treatment that I'm not even sure will work.. if it works then great and I would much rather be happy than in the house because without some relevance of normalcy balance and happiness and never going to be able to maintain a house LOL so that would be great. But I'm just not understanding why it needs to cost so damn much to be healthy or deal with my love issues unless you're willing to take the stereotypical ssris but I feel for me anyways just make me a spectator in my own life. They give me anodonia. that is very much what I am afraid of about getting off of Adderall feeling as though I have persecute withdrawal syndrome all over again. This is why I'm doing all of this research but then when I write it all down we'll get all up I'm up to $1,000 already and supplements different and diet plan and trying to configure and where I'm going to find the time to work out meditate etc LOL. I have to work. I already feel like work entirely too much especially because Bowers that I work are the hours in the day in which you can go to different appointments or talk to different people. From 10:00 to 8:00 which some people would think were absolutely fabulous hours but if you need to get things done they're terrible hours! I miss working around 8:00 to 3:00 LOL but that's life sadly I have a record because I had Adderall on me and I did not have my fill bottle on me. I think that's something the doctor should start telling their patients.. you have to carry your Adderall on you in the battle with the exact amount of bills that you are supposed to have at that time. You can't even have one on you even if you are prescribed then you can show proof you will get a possession charge then lose your career as I did. Have you with someone I should not have been and she was very obviously not sober but she was not driving and I was taking her home thinking I was doing something right. The road to hell is filled with good intentions smh anyways think that I am going to check out these things I understand that I'm not going to get that rush and I think that a lot of people give up because that is what they are looking for... That you for feeling I genuinely I'm just looking for clarity and motivation. If all else fails sadly I can go back down I just took the leading me nowhere fast and it's bad for my health now and in the future. Just really afraid to go through anything like persecute withdrawal syndrome ever again.
