Boy does this bring me back. My mom didn’t like that I collected vertigo but my dad used it as a way of getting to her after the divorce so he’d buy me anything I wanted 😂
I miss Vertigo. It published some interesting clever ideas. Sad to.see WB shut it down.

Image comics has taken Vertigo’s place in the last decade as the home for more bold, mature content. Check it out.
While I agree with the majority of your list, here are a few glaring omissions: "Kill Your Boyfriend" by Grant Morrison and Philip Bond is one of the finest stories of the late 20th century. It perfectly encapsulates the angst, identity crisis and fear of the future inherent of the 90's. Published in 1995, KYB is very proto-Invisibles Morrison and even got second printing in 2008. How you missed this legendary book is beyond my comprehension. Joshua Dysart's "Unknown Soldier" is a brutal, and emotionally gripping tale of misplaced aggression and the futility of war. It's based on Dysart's travels to East Africa and handles topics that are criminally underexposed even to this day. The series was nominated for an Eisner and still kept off your list. Mind-blowing. On a lesser scale, Gail Simone and John Davis-Hunt's "Clean Room" is a crazy fun ride with amazing artwork that gets too little attention. I would personally place the series above the dreary dull "Testament" or "Saucer Country". Similarly, "The Mystery Play" by Morrison and Jon J Muth is better than anything from Ian Rankin. These stories I have described are of the highest quality, have enjoyed some critical acclaim and should be on your list. We all know the Sandmans and the Preachers and probably even I Zombie, but other great ones really dont get enough love. In a list of a hundred titles, I think you missed a couple of gems so I had to be that guy.
I'd put Skreemer high on that list. It's a great story. And the best part is you can always find it cheap.
Superb!! 100 Best Image Comics next please!! 🙏🏽
Before Vertigo was discontinued in 2020, the imprint was close to merging with the Young Animal imprint (Far Sector & Shade, The Changing Girl) & being absorbed into Black Label & Black Label’s Hill House imprint

Black Label video coming soon 😉
Great video/list. A top 100 Dark Horse runs would be an amazing video
Great curated list, lot of stories I need to check out. Crazy how high a caliber of creators Vertigo had. Also, totally agree that Sandman is the best comic of all time.

Yes, Vertigo changed American comics for the better. But the late 2000s saw a shift from Vertigo to another publisher as the best place for creator-owned content. More about it next week.

Nice, looking forward to it 👍
You make some really cool lists. No fluff, gets right to it, and I can tell you've read a ton of stuff over time. This has probably filled my backlog for years. You did the best Marvel/DC runs video before, 14+ issues, but I wonder if at some point you might go back and make a best Marvel/DC mini/maxi-series list (Top 100, Top 50, whatever...). Best of luck with everything!

Thanks for the comment. The limited series list is already being compiled. 😊
Some good stuff you missed: Clean Room, Chas: The Knowledge, Outlaw Nation, Twilight Children, Grip, Sloth, 20/20 Visions, Flinch, Weird War Tales, Weird Western Tales, the Originals, A God Somewhere, Kill Your Boyfriend, Heavy Liquid.
Great video, did you know where I can find the list of all Vertigo publications? 👀

Well, the DC website has a database, but all Vertigo publications in a list format? Maybe Wikipedia. But you’re more likely to find them divided by ongoing series, limited series and one-shots.
What is the music from?
You should do Valiant comics next
This is awesome, thank you! Would you classify Watchmen as DC instead of Vertigo?

I would. While Watchmen fits the mature tone of Vertigo, it is very much a super-hero story. Same as The Dark Knight Returns. They are what DC could have become if the mature tone had taken over the entire line, instead of just certain characters.

@@comicbelief makes sense to me and truly excellent videos you’re putting out, especially to someone pretty new to comics!
Cool
Ghostdancing 1995 should’ve been included in this list.
Music by?
These are great lists you make. I read through all of Sandman and it just didn't work for me. To each his own I guess.
