You could even still tell the beaten horse story of WWE vs WCW with Sting and Taker. They’re both the heart and soul of their promotions., Both were on the first broadcast of their flagship shows, and you’ve got the spooky bollocks similarities. You could even bring in Undertakers time in WCW. “I was told by your buddies that nobody would pay to see me step foot in the ring. So I sold my soul to the devil.” So many ways to approach that match.

As a kid I remember the Goldberg v. Jericho fued. Even though I didn't like Jericho (nasty dirty heel) I still remember really enjoying what he put into that program.

In HBK's defense, he wasn't the pill-popping Hellraiser he was in the 90s, while Hogan hadn't matured in the slightest since his 1993 departure. And ALL of his schtick during his feud with Hogan was hilarious. While Hogan has no self-awareness or comedic leanings. No intentional comedic leanings that is.

And reportedly Shawn got permission for the promos that he cut in the lead-up from both Hulk and then head of creative Stephanie McMahon, and Hogan lied and said he went too far and was unprofessional later. So between all of that and then nixing the entire promo, I can easily see why HBK would just be fed up and decide to just amuse himself.

Wild to think that if Goldberg knew how to do business back in the day we wouldn't have gotten Raw Is Jericho.

Yep........ Austin wanted nothing to do with Hogan cos of all the shit he'd pulled down the years. So they flipped things so SCSA got Scott Hall (which IMO wasn't a big deal) & Rock got Hogan......Wonder where that'd have left Rock otherwise? I always thought they should have booked The Outsiders vs The Brothers Of Destruction for WM18, but that would have still left one of Rock or Austin without a bit time opponent.

The sarcastic promo HBK cut the night after Summerslam 2005 had nothing to do with convincing Hogan not to continue the feud. That decision had already been set in stone. That HBK promo was simply just one last "fuck you" to Hogan.

The reason he went to TNA was because he did not trust Vince McMahon in the creative direction that he wanted to take the steam character if he went to WWE.

A last WCW vs WWE bout was Sting vs Undertaker what the heck was Vince thinking about?!

In fairness, given how Sting's neck was-and in fairness, arguably still is-it's for the best that Taker didn't face Sting. If a Turnbuckle Powerbomb can put out Sting's neck for years, just think what a properly done Tombstone Piledriver would have done.

He got to understand it from hulk Hogan's point of view he has a brand to protect. Unfortunately that's why he said no to a lot of so-called dream matches. Plus you know how ego big muscle guys are. Nobody's going to buy the damn fact that Bret Hart and hulk Hogan are on the same level. To Hogan he is professional wrestling.

The 05 Unforgiven pay per view is the only one I ever attended. I've hated Hogan from day one, BUT seeing him live was on my bucket list. Having followed the sport since the mid 70's I knew Shawn would win the rematch, which I can't tell how happy that would have made me! Him nixing the bout gave me another reason to despise him.

Vince McMahon was not about to buy out stains contract and before sting went to TNA he did not trust Vince McMahon with the creative direction if you want to WWE.

HBK would lose a match only if he won the rematch. (On most occasions) But he wouldn't lose to Bret at Mania 13. Thats one if the reasons Bret didn't want to lose yet again to HBK.

I believe the rock did fight Bret a couple of times. Bret, Taker, and Austin took the rock under their wing and taught him damn near everything. Great teacher created one of the greatest students of all time.

Benoit vs. Hart did happen in 1999 on Nitro in a match that was a tribute to Owen Hart (took place at the Kemper Arena where Owen died)

CM Punk is his own worst enemy. Every promotion he is a part of ends with drama. He always blames the other party and bails out. The guy could of been the biggest star in the world if he had just pushed through.. instead he always has to resort to throwing a tantrum.

The irony behind the Michaels\Hogan match was that Shawn ran into someone who was the top of the heap when it came to ego and everyone he screwed over laughed at him because there is nobody bigger than Hogan who just on his own could dismantle the Kliq with one snap of his finger.

i dont understand why Austin vs Brock is on this list when there were good reasons why this Match happened. it was not Austins Fault it was Vinces and his Stooges.

Vince's reasoning for not doing Taker/Sting is so silly. Wanting 1 more FU to WCW is fine I guess, and running HHH/sting does make sense for that story, but if he wanted 1 more WWE vs WCW match, why not do the spooky man from WWE vs the spooky man from WCW. So silly Also, wasn't Taker's last match in WCW, as "Mean" Mark Callous at the time, against Sting? The match that he wrestled on a dislocated hip knowing that Vince was looking at signing him afterwards? If that is the case, then there is a story there for sure for Taker vs Sting.
