Well this video came as a surprise seeing FOX1. I wanted to clear up one thing, I did some of the work on this car (Way before starting FX Illusions) and there were others involved also in the build of FOX1, who's name I don't remember. I then went on to build the Blown 57 with my old mate (who can not use a **** phone or computer) Mal Ward. I am now working on getting 'Running on Empty 2 Racetopia' to the screen. ( In the USA Running On Empty was renamed > Fast Lane Fever < )

At climactic end race Fox 1 did with the Blown ‘57 Chevy, the burnout that ‘57 did was EPIC!!! 👍😎👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

@@chromeyellow98 I find KZread's so called "free" movies anyways unwatchable as they are like 90% ads; drives me nuts! You can find the DVD on eBay for a decent price, if it's not on Amazon. It's usually not in stock with Amazon sellers though.

It's a bit of a cult classic. If you can find it, I do recommend watching it. Off topic, another Australian classic is Midnight Spares with the notable all-Australian cast.

I've never heard of this movie either, very cool car.👍

Well, this is unexpected video to show of 'fox-1' form running on empty as i barely knew the movie(the first time saw any footage was on another channel +imcdb is where this and the hero ford falcon,chevrolet 57 bel air has any info on the cars) so thank you my friend for helping me out as that challenger will be around long time to come 😊😊. @@CarStarz42 I got a copy of it maybe 15 years ago in a mainstream DVD / Electronics outlet. Lent it to a colleague and then changed jobs and never got it back. Been looking for a copy for years but here (in Perth) a lot of retailers have just stopped selling DVDs / Blurays. and the ones that do just seem to stock popular stuff. Maybe the bigger cities in the East have a better selection..

Great to see you covering the less well known movies - less well known outside Australia anyway… - there’s a group on Facebook trying to finance a Running on Empty sequel / prequel using the same cars and locations. Be great to see the ‘57 Chevy (converted from a four-door) and the Falcon covered in the future. Did you spot the right hand drive Charger Daytona is a couple of scenes…? 😳

Yeah, I've read a bit about that supposed "Racetopia" sequel that they have been talking about for years, but hasn't happened yet anyways. I do plan on doing the '57 Chevy and Falcon on second rounds through the movie list. And, yeah I saw a lot of great US muscle cars in that one short scene that the Daytona was in. It was like a parade, lol. 😉👍

A really lame movie that I rewatch quite frequently 😂 , One of Quentin Tarantino's favorites apparently. It seems strange that they had to fit amber lenses for turn signals, there are tons of American cars in Australia that just use the red ones they came with .Have you reviewed the '57 Chevy in this movie yet ? that would be interesting.

@@barrycuda3769 I’m not an expert but my understanding is sometime in the late 1980s early 90s it became legal to import a foreign vehicle into Australia and keep it left hand drive provided to added a warning sticker to the rear, prior to that they all needed RHD conversions. I wonder if the rules regarding lighting changed around then too?

@@CycolacFan Yeah, I'm just going by the cars I see currently in oz magazines, and you tube channels ( I'm in NZ ) . Also laws were ( are?) different state to state . It's always been a real pain that we have our steering wheels on the opposite side to America , having said that I prefer right hand drive , the rest of the world should have been RHD.

I saw it in person not that long ago, it genuinely is a pretty fast car now. The 57 chev is around too, i believe its undergoing a restoration to return it to as seen in the movie.

Was hoping to hear about the right hand drive conversion. Did they take a dash and steering setup out of an export Challenger? A guy in our club has a right hand drive Barracuda and its a mind bender to look at. :)

Yeah, I'm not sure what organizations do those conversions back then for cars like this that the factory didn't. Since it was done before the movie, I couldn't find much info on it.

No the cut up the dash, reshape the pad, reposition the park brake, the mentioned indicators, sometimes the wipers if the job is done properly and usually fit an RHD Valiant steering box or similar and rejig the steering components. I dont think any RHD Challengers were ever factory made. Big money in its day 10K+ in the 80's for the conversion. This goes back to the time when to register a car in Australia it had to be RHD. There is also a Daytona Wing car in the movie as well if even if it is only briefly that was also a RHD conversion but has returned to the US. Apparently the new owner didn't bother to return it to LHD so if you see it you will know.

Fox 1 is now to this present day over here in Western Australia a motor trimmer the 2 that bought it sold it to the motor trimmer it gets out very regular great car..

You did the Challenger, how cool would it be to do the 57 Chevy, I saw this movie back in the day and found it on you tube a couple of years ago, my favorite part is when the blind guy is waxing the 57 in the pitch dark and the guy that drove the Falcon finds him and turns the lights on the blind guy asks him does it shine and he replies "like a star"!

@@CarStarz42 just as a matter of interest, I was living not far from where they filmed the last scene, my dad used to have an old reel-to-reel film of the stunt where they broke a car into two pieces (final drag race) and - I still remember the 57 Chev going up for sale after the movie. Many years after the filming of this movie, I met with one of the people involved in the making of the movie, she told me that they bought the chev to make the movie, then sold it afterwards... and beleive it or not, had some diffuculty selling it...

We are going to take a perfect 71 challenger R/T numbers matching and destroy it....WTF???

Thanks. Not really interested in non-English based films at the moment; maybe down the road at some point and honestly that 1990s body kitted Peugeot is really hard to look at in my opinion, not my kind of thing. Sorry about that.
