as much as i don't care about sponsors, ridge is quite good. i've been using their original carbon wallet and one of their backpacks since 2016 and they still feel brand new. so far they're living up to their "built for life" motto.

For weird tech wear trainers I'm a big fan of black on black Vibram fivefingers V-Trains, with the strap and contrasting materials they look shockingly cool with baggy trousers resting on top. They match perfectly with Injinji onyx socks too. If you are outright anti-toe for some reason I encourage you to open your mind and not just follow popular mindsets

I own a pair from Fused, I like them a lot. I do agree that they feel a bit thin, and very much like it's a project that is still getting off the ground, but that's part of what I like about it; being a bit scuffed is endearing, especially if the product itself is still ultimately solid. I've interacted with the guy that runs it (I'm 90% sure it's literally one dude who does everything), and he's super enthusiastic, I hope his project continues to grow!

I haven't worn Vans ever since I was a teenager but I picked up a pair of their high-top winter sneakers recently with a big sale and they are surprisingly toasty. The waterproofing also works very good. Nice to see a more technical shoe from such a brand. Have you seen those yet? They're called Sk8-Hi MTE-2, I got mine in the "speckled gum black" colorway.

Shows are something I don't think I would ever order online, unless I already knew the brand. I've tried on several brands in stores before, but my size in most brands seems to not be right, according to those shoe size tools they've got. So I just stick with Hoka. They are like walking on clouds. Any other brand of the same size that I've tried all feel far too small on my foot. This makes experimenting with buying new shoes, most of all online, extremely risky.

Very interesting vid as always! I do agree with you on the 1trl line, this project is absolute fire. I started messing with it when you put us on game with the Hydro mocs and I got a pair which I still love to this day. Went for the Hydro runners mid after that since they were on sale, the experience was not as good since they run slightly narrow compared to to Mocs but they still look incredibly futuristic 😻.

For your chopsaw mules I believe that supposed to imitate ostrich leather (or may actually be ostrich) in southwest America, we use it a lot on boots because it's a very durable leather but it's thin and extremely breathable!

Another great video, Aston Martin! So this is not a sneaker but I was browsing around trying to buy my first pair of boots because I'm tired of most my sneakers being uncomfortable enough for me to not wanna wear them as often and I found some old German milsurp Jungle Boot going for around 40 quid. It's the most comfortable pair of footwear I've worn and the green panels on the side looks pretty good with some true-to-size fitting trousers. It's probably weird in the fashion perspective but it's just out of the periphery enough that it's kinda unique. Low price too, I personally am satisfied with it.

I have the 002s in the colorway you show at 2:08. They’re my ‘IYKYK CDG Sunder Maxes’. Great as an easy day shoe. A little unforgiving in length for downhill runs though, but that’s probably a plus for runners on rockier terrain who need the toe protection.

my main shoe i wear are some arch support Sketchers, they're surprising stylish while being pretty comfortable and very affordable, only other shoe i wear are a pair of Doc Chelsea boots (surprisingly a super comfortable and wide fit) I find most shoes don't fit me because of a combination of an already wide foot and my foot getting even wider because of my flat foot, so hearing that the Norda shoes are wider than Nikes has got me interested, might end up getting a pair.

Good you see you copped the NORDAs, I'm still enjoying the black / grid Norda 002. Both your white 001s and the 002s are currently on a good discount at END (though the 001s are sold out in UK11 for me) for anyone else wanting a dabble, and they do free UK returns. As for MERRILs, I picked up a pair of the 'HUT MOC 2 packable' in black in TKMAXX for like £50, fun house / leisure slippers that you can zip together and hang off your rucksack, plus when you're wearing them they have a half-zipper round the edge of each shoe, what could be more Techwear? :) Edit: Also in the End sale today, finally pulled the trigger on the white 'Salomon 11 by Boris Bidjan Saberi A.B.1', couldn't do RRP of £280, sale price £168 is still sharp but at least tryable 😅😅

While not really as "weird" or "unexplored" as these sneakers, what are your thoughts on the ISPA shoes from last year? Even though most people don't like the universal slide, I'm still quite interested in trying a pair now that they're more discounted.

This is slightly out of left field, but I wonder if widely commercially available 3D-printing advancements will mess with brands a lot. There's so much other stuff going into this subject, AI is a big one right now, but I kinda picture automate-it-yourself stuff becoming so much more massive. We can currently take up sowing etc. and do so much, maybe you've got a 3D printer and you can make some more humble stuff, but sneakers are an example that aren't so simple... You gotta wonder how that'll be in like even just 20 years. Would be so cool if it ends up just as common to have great recycling kits and minimal waste upon using them too. A theme with things like this and AI are that things like ideas and raw materials start to dominate over other aspects, how would the commercial world adapt to that? Would Adidas etc. be selling blueprints/schematics if it truly got to that futuristic point? Would there be policing on our common printer models we'd bypass by modding them? There's just so many layers to how it affects so many different things that themselves affect each other that I think nobody can really comprehend how the transition will go and how it'll pan out/how we'll (be able to) react. As much as I do see the CRAZY problems with it, this is definitely one of the most exciting developments in our entire history to me, truly a crazy time to be alive.

Love it! But it will definitely be an uphill battle for 3D printing. From my experience, large global business move sloooooowwww. And the advantages of 3D printing are hard for them to fit in how they've done things for the last 50 years or so. So that maybe, possibly some small upstarts can gain some terrain. But we've also seen that the giants can kill or cancel those upstarts. I'll be interesting for sure!
